As long as Michigan plays good defense, and stays out of foul trouble this is a game they should win. Have to make Thomas earn everything, probably going to get his but must make it difficult for him. Can’t let the rest of the team get easy shots. Michigan is more talented and has a better coach. Wade is a scum bag who should be waiting for a job similar to Iona to open up. He’s not as good at X’s and O’s as Pitinio and doesn’t have near the resume so maybe he doesn’t even deserve to coach a YMCA team but the NCAA is fucked beyond belief so it is what it is. Hopefully Michigan can make this the last game he coaches at LSU and sends them packing tonight.

I had a friend who swam for LSU, and one spring break I went to visit. One of the things we did was to go to the house of his friend who worked at the Pool. We went to an old worn down house were we were met by his mom who was easily 6' 3", and must have weighed over 400 pounds. She made us gumbo, and it is still one of the best meals I have ever eaten.

I looked at the thread and was a little disappointed. I was hoping for some good culture-war material.
I agree that the board format isn't great but it cracks me up when sites with little original content think shitting on a bad CMS setup is some dagger.
Anyway, LSU is a mediocre school that is always struggling to keep the lights on and will likely see their basketball team be cratered for a couple of years while also currently dealing with systemic coverup of sexual assaults by the current football coach as well as sexual predation by the last coach. But yes, they sure got UM with the university's decision not to hang some banners because they were found to be obtained by violation of NCAA rules (even though the general belief is that those rules suck).
Hey, LSU fan here (Yes, an LSU fan on the Michigan forum). You're probably thinking this is to bash you or be disrespectful, but it's not. I am simply here to 1. socialize & 2. debate. Unlike some LSU fans (and other fanbases with bad tempers) I respect the Michigan basketball squad, and I look forward to the contest tonight. Now that being said, now I can dive into what I have to say. As far as the forum sites, it's rarely going to be great as far as formats when they usually aren't sponsored by the school or a big organization, so the funds will allow for minimal design & coding. You said "LSU is a mediocre school that is always struggling to keep the lights on" but I strongly disagree with that. Sure, LSU isn't one of those colleges you see someone go to and say "WOw you got in?!" obviously, but it's also not a mediocre school. The LSU academics are alright, but the athletic program is great. LSU had a bad season in CFB last year, but that was to be expected in an all SEC schedule format, as well as losing 95% of our starters. Baseball is great, gymnastics is top 5 in the country, and basketball is an 8th seed looking up. Our basketball is very up and down but if we show up, we should win. All respect here, just thought it was a stretch to call LSU mediocre. Can't wait for this game tonight though, gonna be a fun one! Best of luck & Geaux Tigers!
My son is a junior in high school. Last week he got a brochure from LSU. I was surprised and a little impressed by some of the academic rankings for LSU. That said, I’ve been using the Risky Business, “looks like the University of Illinois” line more recently. (Wife is an Illini alum.)

I'm talking about the academic side and the fact that they nearly had to file for academic bankruptcy twice in 5 years due to a lack of funding. LSU is ranked around 150th by USNWR, which obviously isn't the be-all, end-all of academic rankings but would be the worst ranking in the Big 10 by a healthy margin. It's not a "knock" to call it mediocre - somebody's gotta be average - but only an observation.
I have no doubt that LSU is good at athletics; they won a national title in football a couple years ago. But I'd also add that the fact both the football and basketball teams are embroiled in pretty significant scandals perhaps explains partially why those programs have been pretty successful. And the fact they think it's weird that Michigan isn't hanging banners up for disallowed seasons while LSU fans will joyfully crow about not having the Will Wade tenure wiped from the record books yet isn't the dig they seem to think it is.
Yup, kinda like FSU. Great at sports, not so great with the academics which are poorly funded. Even with the great at sports part, Michigan is arguably as good or better historically at the sports LSU does. LSU is better recently at football, yes. But Michigan also has a great gymnastics program. And the baseball team is ranked and has been the last few years. They even made it the the national championship game recently (Fire Bakich!!) as has the softball team. The basketball team...well, you probably know how good that's been for us since Beilein was hired and now with Howard. Anyway, the LSU football program is fun except for the big sex scandal with Miles. The atmosphere at Death Valley for a game just looks amazing.

We have quite a number of MGoBoard members who are fans of schools other than Michigan. We're generally quite welcoming here, although michigan state and ohio state fans deserve and receive a whole lot more scrutiny.

Not sure why we are we starting keyboard wars with other fans bases with whom we don't have any legit beef. Up until not too long ago LSU had a fond spot in our hearts because of Les Miles and because they are Not Alabama.
