Say what you will about his coaching chops or his charm while speaking to reporters, but by all accounts he is a well-liked, personable guy. It wouldn't surprise me if he is personable or at least "not that bad" on the radio. Remember his players all loved him and he did recruit oddly well based on really nothing other than selling the Michigan brand (certainly wasn't results) and his own personality (plus some GMatt).  Hoke's recruits are performing well currently at Michigan, WVU, Auburn and even in the NFL (Rawls). All under other coaches of course :)

I have heard him numerous times as well, and I agree that he is better than what I thought he would be, as Hoke and radio did not exactly seem like a dynamic combination to me.

Because he is a nice guy, which comes through, he ends up being likeable I believe.  Many of his sentences are even grammatically correct now that he is not worried so much about saying things he should not be saying.

I drove across the country 3 times in the past 60 days to play in tennis tournaments.  Once I listened to his whole show.  By the end of the third hour, I was ready to drive into an embankment to end it all.

I hope he has a great life, because he deserves it, and I respect him as a person.  But seriously, if you are relying on Hoke for football analysis, or for entertainment, you have serious issues.

He does seem a bit bitter, and a bit hurt, by his time at Michigan, but he needs time to heal like everyone else.

I was flipping around the Sirius XM sports categories today and happened upon his show. I listened for a little while and he was ok, I think they were discussing Spurrier. Then they cut to commercial and XM plays the most GOD AWFUL ads. I thought XM was supposed to be ad-free but I digress. I changed the channel and forgot to go back, but I meant to listen a bit longer to see if they'd discuss Harbaugh.

I wonder what Hoke thinks when he watches the team play right now.  Do you think he thinks "if they had kept me this is I would've done too" or does he think "holy shit - that dude can coach - I could never get the team to do that".

somewhere between the two, undoubtedly. if you think he ever stopped believing in these kids... I wonder what the defensive line would look like right now if we had some other coach the last four years who couldn't get it done

probably the same thing that rich rod thought watching his former players and Hoke go 11-2 in 2011. sometimes a change of coaching style and philosophy brings about great improvement in players. the problem was that hoke couldn't maintain that initial success.

he deserves some credit for recruiting and the defense instead of the cheap ass shots he takes from many here. And he'd be right given how many coaches have talked about the value of reps. Hoke paid those dues and as painful as they were we could at least be respectful.
