So Barnhart at LT and Hinton at RT?
November 18th, 2023 at 10:13 AM ^
That was my initial take as well. I think we'll be okay vs. Maryland. Get healthy, LaDarius!
November 18th, 2023 at 10:19 AM ^
Barnhart was awful last week. I’m not sure moving him to McCarthy’s blind side is the best idea.
November 18th, 2023 at 10:26 AM ^
What's a better option? Hinton and Jones have mostly been RTs and neither is an elite pass protector. Jeff Persi, who has been playing guard? Barnhart makes the most sense and he'll very likely have a better game - Penn State is a tough place to play and the Maryland DEs just aren't as good.
November 18th, 2023 at 10:45 AM ^
Exactly. Having to silent-count last week gave an extra step to DEs that were already NFL DEs.
Maryland's are not. And we also won't have to silent count this week.

He also struggled playing LT against ECU, UNLV, and Bowling Green.
November 18th, 2023 at 11:39 AM ^
Zach Shaw says it’s going to be Hinton at LT. Apparently the coaches weren’t too excited about what they saw from Barnhart last week, either. Let’s hope Hinton helps keep McCarthy healthy.

Ahh, nothing like the cheerful optimism of The Oracle 2.
November 18th, 2023 at 10:51 AM ^
Maryland’s DEs <<<<<<<< Penn State’s DEs, and it’s not particularly close.
Penn State has a line full of guys who will be playing on Sundays, some of whom will be going in the first round.
Maryland…..does not.
Also, last week was an incredibly hostile environment on the road. Today is a road game, but College Park will be flooded with Michigan fans. It’ll likely be a 50/50 fan split.
Barnhart will have a much easier day.
November 18th, 2023 at 10:53 AM ^
never ch…on second thought, change. please.
November 18th, 2023 at 11:00 AM ^
Carson will bounce back. He likely learned what he did wrong last week from his coaches.
Have some faith.
November 18th, 2023 at 11:23 AM ^
The Oracle seems like the kinda guy in a social setting that will always state the grim obvious stuff, with no filter.
November 18th, 2023 at 11:40 AM ^
Almost like there’s another year and a half worth of data on Barnhart out there and we shouldn’t base our assessment of him on one game against a pass-rusher with elite athleticism and get-off in a game where we had to adjust our snap cadence to account for crowd noise…
Barnhart is fine and will be fine against Maryland. Just like he’s been fine in all of his other games the past couple years.

Ricky Henderson stole 1,406 bases. He was never out.

Rickey love himself some Rickey!
November 18th, 2023 at 10:20 AM ^
Rickey could see the Entire State Building from his apartment while playing with the Yankees.
November 18th, 2023 at 10:51 AM ^
except when the A's played the white sox and ron karkovice (aka the cannon) was catching the game. no pitch out or advanced scouting required.
November 18th, 2023 at 10:54 AM ^
Rickey is a national treasure: “In the early 1980s, the Oakland A’s accounting department was freaking out. The books were off $1 million. After an investigation, it was determined Rickey was the reason why. The GM asked him about a $1 million bonus he had received and Rickey said instead of cashing it, he framed it and hung it on a wall at his house.”
November 18th, 2023 at 11:15 AM ^
Gotta love accounting. Where the response to finding extra money isn't "cool, extra money" its "OH NO WHAT DID WE DO WRONG AND ARE WE ABOUT TO BE SUED?"
November 18th, 2023 at 11:36 AM ^
My favorite Rickey story is when he went up to his teammate John Olerud when the As were in the field and said to him, “Rickey used to play with another play who wore his batting helmet while playing 1B” and Olerud replied saying “Yes, Rickey, that was also me.”
November 18th, 2023 at 12:01 PM ^
We had so much fun going to games at the old Tiger Stadium when Rickey was in town in left field. We cheered him, booed him, and heckled him and he was always a willing dance partner. So much fun.

Officer Kark!

Not a big loss for this game but hope it’s mainly precautionary for next week. The biggest question is: Who is the 7th OL gonna be in the big boy packages?
November 18th, 2023 at 10:13 AM ^
Darius Clemons

Too soon
November 18th, 2023 at 10:15 AM ^
Kenneth Grant, who will also be our short yardage back as well as deep safety.
November 18th, 2023 at 10:19 AM ^
I don't know how he has time to do this when insiders say he's been getting reps as the punt returner.
November 18th, 2023 at 10:22 AM ^
Kenneth Grant. The new Michael Barrett.
November 18th, 2023 at 12:03 PM ^
Coaching linebackers today also
November 18th, 2023 at 12:07 PM ^
I thought he was advance scouting Georgia (already completed comprehensive breakdown of Iowa and OSU.)
November 18th, 2023 at 4:21 PM ^
Insiders...pfft. Listening to insiders is so last week...

Mike Barrett
zero question at all. He can play all 11 positions, plus every special team position too
November 18th, 2023 at 10:13 AM ^
Stinks, hopefully he can play next week. We're pretty healthy as a team though, let's keep it that way.
November 18th, 2023 at 10:48 AM ^
Word is JJ is banged up a bit and was last week as well

Balas actually
November 18th, 2023 at 12:07 PM ^
Overacting to information when it is in fact you who is uninformed should be considered embarrassing
November 18th, 2023 at 11:13 AM ^
Did you see him running / jumping around on the field after the post game interview last week? Dude is fine.
He got up slightly hobbled after one carry in the second half. Looked totally fine after that. And after the game. Was he sore? Sure. But I’ll bet you he’s ready to roll today.
November 18th, 2023 at 11:25 AM ^
Never said he wouldn’t play. Balas said he isn’t 100 and that’s going back to last week. You guys are so weak it’s insulting to the board. Omg I don’t like this information
November 18th, 2023 at 12:05 PM ^
Let’s see the list from Balas on how many players for any team are 100 right now. It won’t be a long list.
November 18th, 2023 at 11:38 AM ^
You’ve postered twice all season both regarding your personal life and now you decide to chime in on my valid information? Sorry for sharing
November 18th, 2023 at 11:42 AM ^
If you had said, “Balas is reporting JJ not 100% after last week”
I doubt you would get negged at all. But what you wrote? That ain’t it.

Boo! Hope it's nothing too serious and that he'll be back next week. UMD won't be enough of a test to miss him today...
November 18th, 2023 at 10:38 AM ^
We’d probably know more about the injury if the staff didn’t have to constantly answer questions about, ya know…
November 18th, 2023 at 10:14 AM ^
Next man up, Myles. Hope it’s better than the OOC games and LaDarius is back for The Game.
November 18th, 2023 at 10:16 AM ^
It is *unbelieveable* that entering game 11 they have that few names on the injury list. Wow.
