Hello: Will Johnson

247 Composite 5* (#11 Overall) Cornerback Will Johnson has committed to the good guys!

Our highest rated cornerback prospect since at least 2001 (since 247 started keeping ranking records). The 13th highest rated prospect to commit to Michigan since 2001. Son of former Michigan defensive back Deon Johnson, a legacy kid and now a Michigan man himself.

Will Johnson was about to commit to OSU in early January before Harbaugh got on the phone with him and urged him to give him time to introduce the new staff to him. With Mo Linguist and Ron Bellamy in the fold, the momentum shifted back towards Michigan with USC being rumored to be Michigan's biggest competition instead of Ohio State. With a close relationship to a number of other Michigan targets (4* Jaelen Gould and 5* Domani Jackson - currently committed to USC - to name a few), I expect Will to be the JJ of this class.

Keep an eye now on 4* WR Tay'shawn Trent (committing on Wednesday, March 3rd), 4* Safety Jaeden Gould, 4* ATH Dillon Tatum, and 4* LB Joshua Burnham as the next potential dominos to fall. All have high confidence crystal balls in for Michigan.

Sunday POSBANG?!

The new staff is proving all the experience concerns premature. Like being proven wrong sometimes! Recruiting chops get high marks.

Good to see the program gaining ground, keep it going on the schemes and execution through camp.

Optimism going forward definately at an all time high for JH to get us back.

While we don't yet know how well the new staff members fare in terms of development and strategy, it sure seems clear we've upgraded our recruiting.

This is a big win, in a position of real need.

Recruiting momentum, filling positions of need, and dominating in-state - I like it.

Welcome aboard!

Finally, a top corner. First since Ambry.

Good early signs that Michigan is trying to correct some recent deficiencies.

My personal leash for Harbaugh is short, but I absolutely think that if Michigan’s recruiting is significantly improved, that should factor in any decision to make a coaching change.

Agreed.

for me unless things continue to be horrid I’d let him have through this 2022 class. If the coaches can even moderately develop talent and get in a crap ton of real talent we could be in good shape.

I’m still bummed Weiss is the QB coach. I think it would be good for Jim as a coach and the team to have him running QB’s but it is what it is.

Really important get for the program.

Not only because of his on the field ability, but also because he's a Michigan kid and a Legacy.

Congrats to him and his family as well as the Michigan staff for being able to close out and keep a kid away from OSU

This is a damn good get and so far the new staff has proven they're an upgrade recruiting wise.

Does this disprove the "Michigan isnt able to recruit because academics" thing yet?

Fabulous news! This has to be killing those idiots at the Freep who love writing negative Harbaugh stories. Next hurdle is to  get Lance Dixon through the portal and into the Big House!
