Have you gone to middle or high school with any UM football players?

I went to St. Matthew’s with Ray, Julius and Markus Curry. Julius and Markus had decent careers here. They ended up at Bishop Gallagher. Braylon Edwards came out of BG around that time too.

Yes, I went to Clague Middle School in A2 with Ian Gold and I believe his (twin?) brother Jeremy.  Then I had a class at Michigan with Ian which I thought was kinda funny.  He was always surrounded by tons of people in that class, mostly girls.  I feel like at one point he was on crutches, too.

I went up and watched Drew play baseball with a friends dad who was a scout. I played ball all my life and had a son who probably would have gotten drafted if Covid didn’t send him into a downward spiral. Never saw anyone at the high school level (personally) match Henson on a Diamond. The game we were at there had to be no less than 50 college and major league scouts. He was the Charles Woodson of high school baseball, probably football as well but I never saw him play live.

No. But I dated a girl who was in residency at Thomas Jefferson hospital in Philly. She told her attending physician at the time that I was in town to see her and was at the bar watching Michigan beat Notre Dame down while I was waiting for her. I think it was the year we just bludgeoned them early and often. Burgess had a pick 6 I think.

He told her I might know who he was.... It was Reggie Ho, the former nd kicker.

I went through every grade from K to 12 in Farm Hills public schools with Bob Patek in the 70's.  Bob was built like adonis but never broke though as a starter for Bo. He played the entire 1979 Rose Bowl game (a loss) when the starter got hurt (forgot his name).

Went on to be an othro surgeon in Chicago and, sadly, passed away from cancer a few years ago.

I didn't go to school with any but I did play against as couple. When I was in high school, our biggest rival was Brighton (MI). My freshman year their QB was Drew Henson. Still to this day, he was the best high school QB I have seen.

My senior year, again against Brighton, I played Morgan Trent (before he went to Orchard Lake St. Mary's). By far the fastest guy I ever played.

George Sahadi was the coach at Biship Gallagher when you were there I believe.  He's my wife's uncle, but unfortunately passed before I met my wife.  It sounds like he was a great coach/person and obviously had great ties with U of M.

No, but we played against and beat Diallo Johnson and David Bowens (Orchard Lake St. Mary's) in the 1994 State Championship basketball game.  Also played against Matt Thornton (White Sox pitcher) from Centreville in the semi-final game that same year.

Nope. Attended a small high school in Nashville where Will Wade was a grade above me. He was not making any strong ass offers at that time, at least not to me.

Chris Perry was a year under me, and Sean Cassidy who was a backup QB also ended up there.  Another guy I went to HS with, his younger brother was a Rich Rod era DL.

The high school i started at was Grant Hill's alma mater and the one I finished was a football factory back in the 80s and 90s, Plaxico Burress, Hackenburg, Testaverde, Eddie George were some  of the bigger names.

No, I missed Derrick Alexander (Det. Benedictine) by a couple years. I think he still held a bunch of the school's track records when they closed down around 2010.

I had classes with a lot of football players in the late 1990s, (Woodson, Streets, Shea, etc) but I gotta say that Jon Jansen was one dude who was able to parlay his classwork into a successful career. Dude did well in the Communications classes and has parlayed it into a nice broadcasting career.

No high school connections but I was in several classes with Harbaugh at Michigan and lived down the street from him our senior year. And then one of the girls he dated in college ended up marrying my high school best friend's brother.

I went to middle school at U of D Jesuit with Josh Ross. Unfortunately, given our terrible football program, he transferred to Orchard Lake St. Mary’s and Michigan was never in the running for our star athlete at the time (Cassius Winston).

See below; you and I might've known each other in days of yore. I did actually know Tom Stanbury fairly well (both from Indian Hill subdivsion). He went on to be captain for a very good Air Force team and a fighter pilot. I haven't seen or talked to him since 1979, however.

Not a classmate, but Jerry Meter was my student gym teacher at Logan Elementary (Ann Arbor) the same year he recovered the Charles White fumble.

Frysinger lived around the block from me until 7th grade when he moved. Played a lot of sports together

I remember my stepfather telling me that he played summer baseball with Dominic Tomasi. If that name doesn't ring a bell, go back to the archives: Tomasi was an all-state football player out of Flint Northern who was a four-year starter at UM (1945-48) and was voted MVP of the undefeated 1948 Rose Bowl champs. The 5'8", 180 lb. Tomasi was twice chosen to the All Big Ten second team - at guard.

Yeah, I know players were smaller back in the old days. But playing guard at 5'8" and a buck 80? He must have been one tough little SOB.

"was voted MVP of the undefeated 1948 Rose Bowl champs."

The season MVP of the 1947 team which played in the '48 Rose Bowl was Bump Elliott. The game MVP of that Rose Bowl was Bob Chappuis.

Tomasi was the team MVP for the 1948 season, but because of the Big Ten's idiot no-repeat rule, Michigan did not play in the Rose Bowl after the 1948 season. Didn't keep them from winning the NC, though.

my parents and all of their siblings went to Gallagher; my uncle played for George Sahadi.  Also, my grandfather was the AD at St Matthews at one point and was also an assistant coach under Sahadi.

He would always call Braylon "Stan's kid".

I went to high school with Max Pollock ('07), a walk-on who was mainly a practice squad and special teams guy but who got in sometimes at LB and had a pick-six against CMU his senior year (9:09 here). Our HS is not exactly a football powerhouse, despite being the biggest in MD; as far as I know he's the only P5 player we've had in the last 20 years. Visanthe Shiancoe preceded us by a couple of years and of course had a long NFL career, but he went to Morgan State.

A good friend of mine was in Sunday School with Harbaugh. Said Jim was kind of an obnoxious jerk jock. Which I can easily picture.

Went to Pioneer with some dude name Jimmy Harbaugh (just one year). He had an older brother named John, if memory serves, who was in my graduating class.

My wife went to Pioneer with Jim as well. She was in the same grade. She had a friend that was obsessed with him. Stalked him every day and kept a journal about his comings and goings. Wonder if that journal would be worth anything today?

For what it's worth, my wife says that most of Jim's friends were complete assholes.

Not a Michigan player, but went to high school with and played on the same team as Justin Simmons. He’s a team captain and starting safety for the Denver Broncos.

Went to high school with Mark Hughes (bball) and competed in track against Mike Teeter.

Incidentally, Mike has settled back in the Muskegon area and he is a pretty good guy.

Nope.  To my knowledge my HS has only produced one M player of note (as a recruit, not as an actual player) and he came through more than 20 years after I graduated.  For a large Class A school there have been very few D1 football players.

Had a few players in classes and played against a couple in IM basketball, which was fun.

I played against and trained with Ty Isaac back in the day. Always thought dude should have been a TE/H or an LB, but some guys just really think they're RBs. UW TE Troy Fumagali  of that group and 2014 Freshman of the year Mike Dudek who played at Illinois. Scotty Miller and Cameron Brate both of Tampa/Tom Brady Super Bowl fame were apart of that training group too. Lots of fun running 7 on 7s with all that talent back in the day. I just can't believe it's been that long!

Edit to Add:

Also played against Antonio Morrison (UF LB).

Didn't go to school with any of them, although Rob Renes was a teacher at my middle school (didn't have a class with him though). I believe he is now a principal in my district.

Steve Smith, but only for senior year. He moved to Grand Blanc from Swartz Creek. People at Michigan would ask me if he's a good guy or not and I'd say, "Beats the fuck outta me." We passed each other ONCE on the path between East and West Campus (long story). That was the extent of our friendship.

Coming from a small Class C school in the Thumb, the answer is no. I did play pick up ball with Josh Asselin (hoops) as he was from the next town over from me. I also had a class with Chris Kaman at CMU. This was after he had blown up and was receiving draft hype, he was cocky and arrogant by that point.

Mark Moundros was my RB as a sophomore when I was QB as a senior. His older brother Kirk also played at Michigan along with Brian Lafer. Decent representation for an 1100-kid school!
