A safety leading your team in tackling just means your front seven is shit. I'd much rather have a dt or a lb lead the team, that means they aren't getting many yards each play.
I placed two orders within an hour of the end of the game. The one that was hats and t-shirts got here 4 days ago. The one with the banners, stickers, keychains, lanyards, etc. has not shipped yet.
Also, I have to say I am very disappointed in the quality of the t-shirts, sweatshirts, and hats. My sweatshirt has the printing way off-center and crooked. The hats are generic with the block M stitched on over the top, with two of the 4 hats having it stitched on crooked as well. I was hoping that everything would be a little nicer quality since, 1. It's all Jordan, and 2. it cost hundreds of dollars.
Lastly, I'm sure everyone saw Nate Lewis's X post about how everything is already 30% off at Dicks... that pisses me off too. I know they want to sell as much as possible, but the price is supposed to make some of the items a bit more exclusive, that doesn't work when you slash prices less than 2 weeks after the game. Live and learn I guess. I won't be rushing to get my gear next time, I'll just wait a few weeks and go to Dick's rather than order from Mden.
Have the shirt I've worn for every game this season. Is it a Michigan shirt?? No, it is not. It's a Hartland Eagles shirt. We live in Hartland and for those who don't know, our school mimics UofM. Maize and blue colors, Winged Helmets, and Victors as our fight song. To begin the season I didn't have a Michigan t-shirt that was maize/yellow, so I wore this t-shirt as a stand-in since the colors were the same. Have now worn it for every game so of course it is on today. I also have my season hat that I purchase before every season that I will wear, but I have to wear it backward during the game. Tried wearing it forward after halftime last week and well, we know how that went. Flipped to backward for the final drive and OT. Also, I have my hoodie that I wear before the game but not during. Found that out against OSU.
The best defense against an elite QB is to keep him off the field. That is the part I think so many Huskie fans don't seem to understand. If Michigan can run the ball and have long sustained drives that eat the clock, Penix will only have so many opportunities to make insane throws. That is why our offense against an average defense is the key to the game. Listen to any NFL game with a top QB and the other team's strategy is always to keep them on the bench. I guarantee that is Harbaugh's goal in this game as well.
This basically confirms what I have been saying/thinking. With NIL the way it is, and Michigan not being willing to pay for play, Michigan needs to focus on getting a high volume of 4* and work to develop them and keep them around for 4-5 years. Then every year fill gaps with established good to great players from the portal. Michigan will never get more than 2-3 5* in any given year, with most years being at 1 or 0, they just aren't willing to hand $$$ to unproven kids with big heads. They will however pay to keep you here a 4th or 5th year instead of bolting to the NFL for a mid-round draft pick making the league minimum.
I think Seth has always said... "if your main draw is money, there will always be someone who offers more." MSU found this out and now OSU is finding out. This is why I prefer Michigan's method of recruiting/NIL. It weeds out all the guys who are just about getting paid and brings in guys who actually want to learn, grow, and win. Michigan offers so much more than just $$$, and the smart, driven recruits will see or have seen that. Thus why we've done so well in the portal, by their 2nd or 3rd year these kids realize that if they want long-term, generational money from the NFL, they need to go where they develop. $1 million as an 18-year-old is great, but also fleeting, 80 million as a 25-year-old changes everything.
The best way for us to deal with Milroe is to use his youth to our advantage. Mix up coverages, blitz randomly, have edges drop into passing lanes, etc. He will probably get a run or three that drives us mad, but he will also throw into coverage and start pulling the ball down early if he doesn't see what he expects to see. I hope we blitz early and often so he starts "seeing ghosts." Once a young QB starts doing that then mistakes are bound to follow.
Also, I think we are the rare team that can hang with them one on one. Put Johnson on their best WR, and then bracket the other with Paige. Our linebackers can absolutely cover their TEs. If they go spread then we play zone and bring the Mikes (Barrett and Sanristil) on blitzes from random places.
The advantage is that no one on the team has been "given" money they haven't earned. No one in that locker room can begrudge the NIL money that Corum and McCarthy are getting now because they've earned it on the field with their performances, but a freshman walking in having been "given" $1 million to come play hasn't earned anything. That causes division in the locker room which is why A&M and Miami suck even though they have a billion 5 stars.
The disadvantage is that you have no chance with the top 5 stars because you won't pay them just to come.
Michigan will never be top 5 in recruiting because they won't just pay 5 stars to come here. Underwood is a perfect example. I know many will not like this answer, but I want snow! Winter is only good because of snow and I miss the days of getting feet of snow not inches. If it has to be cold and dead outside at least let it be snowy so we can send the kids outside to build forts and go sledding.
The fact that Jed Fisch isn't in the top 5 based on what he did at Arizona shows me all I need to know about this "process" and award. I'd love for Jim to win just as an FU to the B1G and Tiny Tony, but what Fisch has done at Arizona is actually award-worthy.
I'm not sold on PSU's defensive ends just yet. They played almost as bad of a schedule as we have so they could just be beating up on bad tackles. Even Iowa's tackles are not good. I think our tackles, while maybe not elite this year, will be the best they face all year. OSU's tackles are not good.
My mom was a huge Michigan fan and I got her hooked on MGoBlog probably 10+ years ago. Opponent Watch was her favorite part every week. She passed away in April so I am currently overjoyed that it’s back and the season is almost upon us but also crying in my living room because she’s not around to share in my joy. My first Michigan memory was Desmond getting held in our endzone to end the game in '90, my second being his catch against ND in our corner the next year. From there my fandom grew through my teenage years until '97 and going to the Rose Bowl. I went to the same high school as Drew Henson and smiled like an idiot every time I passed him in the hallways as he wore his Michigan gear his senior year, just thinking of what was to come for my Wolverines. Then Tressel happened, then Rich Rod, then Hoke. The past 20 years of Michigan fandom have been hard. Up until last year, the BPONE was real and made cheering for the maize and blue hard sometimes. Last year was the release of so much pent-up frustration, it was incredible. I didn't care that we lost the CFP game, I just enjoyed being there, finally able to say we did it. This year I'm getting greedy. I want it all. Mostly because I know how fleeting it all can be. I was 16 when we won it all in '97 and I never would have imagined it'd be 25 years before another shot. As Michigan fans, we know all too well how fast the descent can be and how long the ascent can take. We're at the top again, finally. This is the thing that I think the transfer portal is really going to hurt. If stroud gets hurt at OSU they have no experience behind him. If Ewers gets hurt in Texas, they have no one because everyone left when Ewers came in. Looking at the QB breakdown for the B1G Alex did, how many of those teams are dead if the starter gets hurt? MSU, Nebraska, Wisconsin, OSU, PSU... all of those teams' seasons are in serious jeopardy if the starter gets hurt... we are not currently in that position, and I hope Harbaugh and the coaches emphasize that point to both JJ and Cade.
get real competition throughout the FBS is to have the same rules.
- set admission standards across the board
- set scholarship requirements. (Guarantee four years)
- recruiting salary cap (each school can spend up to $25million, any more and you lose scholarships for the following year which would hurt because of rule above where you have to honor the guys you already have and can’t just cut them to make room for the 5* you now don’t have room for)
- schedule restrictions ( like one fcs opponent per year max and one G5 team max)
Georgia's best wins are Arkansas @ home, Kentucky @ home, and Tennessee on the road. The SEC East is about as good as the B1G West. They finally played a team with equal or close to equal talent and they got smoked. They are a good team that feasted on poor opponents, just like OSU. It's not hard to have the best run defense in the country when your d-line outweighs your opponents by 50-100lbs every game. Just like it wasn't hard for Stroud to throw for a million yards when he had all day to throw and didn't have to hit small windows, but pressure him and play good coverage and suddenly he isn't the greatest quarterback alive.
I think Georgia is good and we will have to play our best to beat them, but we have already played the #2, #4, and #6 defenses in the country and won all 3 games. We also held the #1 offense to their lowest point output all year. Georgia can not say they have played even close to that level of talent, except Bama and we know how that turned out.
Wisconsin's Defense finished 2nd in SP+ behind Georgia by .5 points! We beat them handly on the road. We also beat OSU @17, and Iowa who's top 10 (not paying ESPN so I can see) We also beat PSU (17 overall) on the road, Nebraska (37 overall) on the road, and held OSU's #1 by a large margin offense to the lowest output on the year... Yeah, not scared of overrated, hasn't played, anyone Georgia.
They certainly have been consistent, but how hard is it to be consistent against cupcakes? Every year we make fun of whatever team comes out of the B1G west because their schedules are nothing. Why overlook it for Georgia? Their best wins are against 9-3 Kentucky, 8-4 Arkansas, and 9-3 Clemson. All of whom were at home by the way. @ 7-5 Tennessee was their best road win. Beating GT 45-0 and Charleston Southern 56-7 is consistent though. Way to go them!
I'm not saying they shouldn't be #1, but the slobber fest going on, especially for their defense, is unwarranted in my opinion. Bama will be by far the best team they've played all year.
Also, I do not want Bama to win either, Georgia kicking them out of the playoff is good for everyone, but I don't think Georgia can beat them.

Saw it in Detroit last May, it was amazing. I had started listening to the soundtrack the year before and loved it. Finally, I had the chance to see it live and it did not disappoint! I recommend it to everyone, even if they don't like musicals or plays, or life in general. It's that good! Also, "One Last Time" is powerful and glorious, if you haven't watched the performance from the Kennedy Center I highly suggest you do so!
I would have absolutely no issue with all of our seniors/guys going pro skipping this game since it’s Florida... again. Seniors already have 2 wins over them and after Butt two years ago I don’t blame them at all

Ross will be pulled for Barret on passing downs, just like against OSU and Iowa unless he's the one blitzing because Ross is a good blitzer.
