Myself and the family are just getting over a most unpleasant virus, so I think the weekend will involve me resting on the sofa in my basement and watching the Lady Wolverines win the B1G title in softball.

Since that isn't the happiest of scenarios, allow me to make amends with a photo of the lovely Kate Beckinsale.

I'm sipping water getting hyped for our students vs. Staff baskeball game this afternoon.

I have been running with the kids for a while now after school preparing.  I figure to shoot a lot of three balls, talk a lot of shit, and generally have fun with the kids!

We even chose our own names and numbers:  I went with 'Illmatic' and #94 in honor of the greatest rap album ever written and the fact that I tell these kids all the time how Ill I am .

Just make sure they don't catch you in the streets with a ton of reefer. Also, try not to hustle, just relax and strive and tell them kids you was a fan of the Jackson 5.

...returns from a three-day business (or so she says) trip, so I'll be looking to get some alone/quite time...as part of my recovery from being a single parent for three days.

The recovery should include a few ciders.

Rest of the weekend will be filled with old married guy stuff...kids' soccer games, Birmingham Art Fair, hosting of Mother's Day festivities, etc.  Although, we're taking the easy route for Mother's Day and bringing in a deli tray.  We'll have some leftovers, so feel free to stop by!

Got muchos plans this weekend and I'm excited.  Two weeks ago the family went to Grand Rapids to watch youngest brother graduate from GVSU.  This weekend is my own commencement exercises at UDM for my masters degree.  (Not to get too excited; I have four classes still to take in the summer and then it's MBA city.)  About two hours after those end I hop a plane to Vermont where my cousin is graduating from Norwich University, and I have the honor of giving him his commissioning oath into the Army.  Oh, and my middle brother just got his acceptance into the University of Washington for his own MBA, which he'll start in the fall.  Good times in the family as we all get ourselves edjicated up.

Thanks!  Actually I'm most proud of having been asked to give the oath, although admittedly my cousin's options are somewhat limited in that it has to be a current or former officer who gives it.  Still, even though I'll miss his commencement and kind of squeeze my own, I absolutely had to make the effort to get out there.

Watching Bulls tonight, then a bar a couple blocks away for a friend's birthday. 16" Softball tomorrow and a mother's day thing for my mom Sunday afternoon. Quality low-key weekend planned.

Just getting started on the Friday morning here on the West Coast. The Wings play right at 5, which makes for a perfect marriage of Friday happy hour and playoff hockey. Pretty pumped.

Malpractice to drink alcohol and treat patients, so ice coffee and water.  Full schedule in the PM though :P

Once I go home, will make myself a margarita (fresh lime juice, tequilla, some Patron orange liqeur, agave syrup and ice cubes) and continue the marathon weeding session in our backyard.  Most of the grass seeds sprouted though.  Yay grass! (Not that grass)

Dinner at Red Robin (Mrs. Gopoohgo celebrates her bday next week, free burger) tonight.  Celebrating Mrs. Gopoohgo's dog-mom-ness at the Fairmont Georgetown Sunday.

MGB loses twice or wins either two or three times. Two losses end their season, 2-3 wins put them in the NCAA regionals, which hopefully would be in Ann Arbor.

Other than that, I had a few too many people here last night and need to clean everything, probably either headed out somewhere tonight or having a few beers with a movie, depending how softball goes.

Their tournament has a weird format where it's double elimination, 1 v. 4, 2 v. 3, winners play, losers play, winner of game four plays loser of game three, winner then playes either one or two games in the "championship round" with winner of game three for the auto-bid.

They're currently in the first "winners play" game against the heavy favorite, with the three and four seeds being pretty terrible teams. Tied 0-0 after five complete innings.

Edit: And they win!!!! One win tomorrow is enough to send them to the NCAA tournament!
