Guessing Speight's destination

Submitted by oriental andrew on

First, let me say that I'm thankful for what he has done as our quarterback and hope he gets his health back in order.

That said, any guesses as to his destination?

Based on nothing, seems like UVA could be a good fit. He is from Virginia, they lose their senior starter, and second string is currently a redshirt freshman. The other quarterbacks on the roster include a junior also listed as the long snapper and a true freshman also listed as a wide receiver. Any other thoughts on where he might transfer?

EDIT:

Yes, it was brought up here and there in the "Speight is transferring" thread and front page, but those are random comments scattered throughout all the dreck. This is specifically to speculate on where he might be a good fit.

Seems NC State might be a possibility - they have 3 RS Juniors and 3 true freshman at the QB position this season. Who knows if any/all of them will return for a 5th year. I really have no clue.

Wilton Speight is one f-ing dude in my opinion. He is a brother for life. Can't believe he is gone but the program moves one I guess. Will be sad to see him go but wish him the best !

don't f-up your life with another career type hit. Get your UM degree and get one with life is my simple opinion. God bless him, but he has no NFL skills so get on with life !

Knows exactly dick about any and all things but I did see on their crawler (a few days ago) that Oregon State was looking at Fisch to fill their coaching vacancy. Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere on here but if true that could be an option for Speight. That said I have been convinced by some of the posts above and will say NC State.

I agree UVA could work, but Mendanhall goes for athletic types. His first QB recruit at UVA is a Tanner Mangum type three star who has offers from UCLA, WVU, Purdue, Maryland and Wisconsin. He’s just coming off redshirt and who knows how good he is. He had all of 9 attempts this year.

Their offense is a passing air raid type spread and mixes some zone as well as power runs. They consistently throw deep to stress safeties and the run with athletic guys against light boxes. They mix in the typical quick screens too. Harris would be a great grad transfer there.

Another option for Speight might be down I64 from UVA at the University of Richmond, a respectable FCS program. Not sure of their current QB situation but Speight is from there.

You're supposed to take your graduate year at a school that offers a program your own school doesn't.

Why doesn't anyone ever transfer to Wisconsin for Fermentation Science?

Since Shea Patterson is probably leaving.  There would be a sense of completion, especially if the Univ did something smart, like hire Jedd Fisch to be the HC and tell the bagmen to cool it.

Or, if he wants a grad degree with heft, Vanderbilt.  For that matter, how about Harvard or Yale?

and have success he should go to a non-P5 school. More fitting of his talent and he could have a very nice last season in football while working on his graduate degree.
