Great and fun Florida podcast analysis

Submitted by The Man Down T… on

After WD put up his highlight reel, I saw this off to the side on YouTube.  They had a very sober, frank discussion.  I've set the timer at the 15 minute mark where one makes the prediction that Michigan wins the Big 10 and has the best defense in the country.  Worth listening to the first 20 or so minutes.

Unrelated question: Was going to listen to wtka this morning over the internet, I went the their website and did what I thought would be live radio. It ended up being just endless commercials. Anyone have this problem and know the solution? Thanks.

No need to pull Feleipe Franks out at that point...Franks did OK against a team with an outstanding defense...Franks is no Shane Buechele but Zaire is no Tyrone Swoops either...not after less than a month of being on campus.

Florida is in the SEC East though...and I suspect that Tennessee is gonna Tennessee, Jaw'ja is gonna Jaw'ja, the LSU and FSU games will be problematic but there is no reason that they couldn't go 9-3, win the East, and lose to 'Bama by 50 again in the CCG again and get to a nice bowl...they do need to get rid of Nuss if they want to do better than that in the future.

This is still homerism to an extent. They got it put on them so it's easier to excuse the loss if they say Michigan is the best defense they'll face. It's entirely possible Michigan will have the best defense in the country. Top ten seems more likely. But if they win the SEC east chances are they end up playing Bama and do they honestly think Michigan's defense is appreciably better than Bama's? I don't and I'm a Michigan homer.

that same guy predicted Florida would win by two touchdowns.  His analysis told him that in every facet of the game (FL run offense vs. Michigan run defense, FL pass defense vs. MI pass offense, even special teams), Florida was better than Michigan.

I recall watching the Penn State crew last year and how deflated they were after the game.  Things worked out well for them.  That being said: Moorhead >>>>>>Nussmeier

The observation that good teams make halftime adjustment was what rang true from this video. Michigan and Harbaugh/Staff adjusted and got better.

get 11 yards rushing and 192 overall with 9 first downs and the team you did it against had one returning starter on defense and this is all anyone heard all spring and summer, getting all your points from your defense is going to send you looking for massive rationalization about the offense or acknowledgment of what your opponent did to create that result.

They were missing their best rusher and receiver. I think there are internal behavior issues with this team which exacerbate team unity and performance questions and lead to frustration over play-calling, game-planning and second-guessing. The losers' lament.

I mean the coach said his team got whupped and their fans blamed preparation. But I mean this team had the lead at half and essentially came up with two pick sixes and a blocked punt to give their team a chance to score 17 to 21 unanswered points with Michigan inserting its own backup qb to stem the tide in the second quarter. They trailed by only 9 points late in the game and the deficit seemed like 9 TDs.

I don't think Florida imploded so much as Michigan totally dominated their offense and never allowed the Gators to establish anything other than some random pass catches that were simply well-thrown by Franks. They have some athletes and speed, a talented group on the Dline and lot of inexperience just like Michigan without its apparent ability to coach it up. And that maybe the real Michigan difference.

I just know that heading into that game, I felt confident about this team and its ability because of the way the coaches described their preparation and focus going into it: all business with no ego massaging commentaries or trash talk. They did their talking with their play on the field. Meantime we continue with humble hearts and move on to face Cincinnati.
