Get up lazy people - it's gameday!

Submitted by crg on

So, I had hopes of being lazy this morning and sleeping in.  Unfortunately, I live in Toledo near the U Toledo campus and today happens to be their homecoming (they have EMU at noon, which could actually be a great game this year).  Was awakened around 6am by their band warming up for the 8am homecoming parade (not bad by any means, but not to the level of the MMB).  So, now I suppose I should do something productive - or just hang around MGoBlog for a few hours before the noon games.

Go Blue!  Beat State!  Make Mikey scowl some more!

I’m awake. I just got done analyzing the completely necessary 33 weather threads created over the past week. You know, because I don’t have a weather app on my phone nor access to www.weather.com.

I woke up and went to work, because that's what you're supposed to do. Didn't question it. Apparently all my co-workers questioned it, and the answer was a resounding "F IT."

So now, here I sit...

but "gotta get up to get down" just popped in my head. Gotta get some coffee, breakfast, wash up, pack up the car then off to the tailgate then the game!

Taking advantage of the late start to get a lot done today, heading out on a 15-mile hike shortly. Can't wait to come home and watch the recording of College GameDay. Which will they eye-rollingly show more times, Michael Hart or Blake O'Neill? At this point I honestly couldn't care less about the latter. It was a play, it happened. In my nearly 30 years as a Michigan fan there has been no shortage of moments ESPN loves and I'll have to see replayed for the rest of my life - Colorado '94, Appalachian State, the Clowney hit - this is just another. And I hope Jim goes to 2-1 against State today so their mouth-breather fans can look increasingly ridiculous continuing to dine out on it.

But fucking hell it would be great if just one goddamn time an outlet could try real journalism and show the full context of the 2007 exchange - the "Moment of Silence" comment that led to the post-game kneel at midfield, the State players using the term "Little Brother" before Hart ever did - instead of the lazy sound bite bullshit that makes the 51 year-old millionaire coach getting down in the dirt with a college kid out to be the victim.

to get the kiddo to the doctor's office for a flu shot.  She wanted a Spider-Man bandaid, but they just gave her a maize one.  We both agreed it was a good omen.

Been feeling better and better about this game all week. I think it’s very similar to Purdue, all the upset talk, a program that is back to relevance, 3-1 team that’s sooo much better than their team last year, etc. In the end I think the result is the same too.

Only decent team Sparty has played ND, killed them, just like Purdue and Louisville. Sparty’s D has been decent, but against not good competition. Their offense has been not good against not good competition. ND is 32 in defense and they held Sparty in check.

I think Michigan will do what Brian asked and throw to open the run, especially since it looks like the 2nd half will be sloppy due to weather. Their offense will not be able to do anything sustainable, and Lewerke doesn’t finish the game.

A2 feels so strange for a game day. Having a quiet morning like any other non-home game, doesn't feel like anything's going on. And of course, the weather's perfect, but the lots aren't open yet.
