Gary sitting out Peach Bowl

Is it just to prevent injury?  Or is he still healing up his shoulder.? What’s to stop every single draft eligible player from sitting out a bowl game now?   I’d hate to see Mone, Marshall, Furbush, Kinnel, Watson,Winovich, Higdon, and Perry  sit out the bowl game.  I know that sounds extreme, but it’s the trend now.

Have no problem with this. Rashan needs to heel before the NFL combine.  He has played injured for two years - tough guy and great teammate but now is time to take care of your family.

The NCAA has a shit pot of money in this big business of theirs.  They should insure and compensate fully draft position loss in a way that would incentivize draft eligible kids to play in the bowl season.

We don’t know his reasons for sitting. Could be medical, could be financial. Either way, I hope the kid has a great career. He’s been a class act as a Wolverine.

This bowl season is stupid for legit NFL prospects unless it is CFP.  Why risk injury for an exhibition game?  Have the young guys step up and get experience.

It's not for me to fault Gary nor not be disappointed that we won't get to see him suit up in the Maize n Blue one final time.  But I loved college football more than when you even had to think about players not playing in their team's bowl game.  Yes the world has changed but just sayin'.

Do him dirty?

If he's not playing in the bowl game, he can take his shit and leave...If he's done, he's done, right?

His scholarship benefits should end.  Him hanging around and getting ready for the draft while his teammates get ready for the bowl is bullshit.

This will only lead to players vacating the season once their team is out of the playoff...

I can understand both sides of the argument but as a reminder, there are decision-making suits in an NFL room who will negatively paint a picture of him sitting out the bowl as not being a team-player....just saying.

Honestly, I'm ready to move on the from the endless hype of the Gary era at Michigan. Nothing is more symbolic of Michigan football than grabbing the consensus number 1 recruit (and I believe of all time?) and having him not even come close to being that guy.

Seems like a really nice person and I wish him all the best in regards to a long NFL career and life.

Peppers 2016 season was fantastic and was a game changer on defense. He was the difference between a great defense and a good one.

Watch the 2016 Orange Bowl. Metellus looked lost out there in his place in viper.

Why would anyone play for a chance to win a Natty?  It's a trophy for fucks sake.  Theres no $$ in it.

This is what I hear most of the jackballs on this site saying.

Seriously I need to know what the big fucking difference is.  So you can tell your grandkids "hey we got the shit kicked out of us by Bama back in 2018 for the chance to win it all" instead of - "Beat the shit out of Flordia - again - back in 2018".  Be like Bosa.  If your draft status is secure - why ever play another game?  Garys draft stock IMO has declined since the beginning of the year.  Why come back at all?  If you have a bad game - why play another?  The prevailing mantra seems to be: Do what's best for you - not for the team.  Shows how few of you have ever stepped foot on any field.

Maybe one you idiots can do the research to prove me wrong.  I'm putting the number of players hurting their draft stock by getting hurt in a bowl game at >1%.

I will be sitting out the Peach Bowl, too. I have seen enough Florida-Michigan games in the last few years to last for a while. That said, I will watch it on TV and hope M wins.  Just not going to make the trip this year.

Unfortunately the playoff system has made bowl games obsolete increase the number of participants in the playoff to 16 get rid of conference championships and bowl games all together what's the use of watching your team in a bowl game if you're going to be missing your top players

Good for him for taking care of his body.  He really needs to up his level of play if he is going to have an impact on the NFL. He will be a very high draft choice and make lots of $ based on his athleticism, however I suspect that he will be a very average NFL player at best. Hope I am wrong.

Good ambassador for the program. Didn’t notice any difference when he was on the field and when he missed 3 games. Unfortunately never made the impact someone labeled the best dl in 10 years should have. Maybe it was just the defensive philosophy

Smart move by Gary to sit out the bowl game.

Smart move to come back for the regualr season even though he had no choice but to come back.

If Michigan were to lose 62-39 to Florida, I’ll expect to find 75% of the blog not care because it’s “meaningless”, right? Something tells me that won’t happen...

It is funny how the rational people clear out of this place after the end of the football season and then we just get a ton of internet tough guys shitting on players because they didn't beat OSU.

Actuall, I think all the kids who are leaving early should not play in none CFP games. Better to give the kids who are gong to be here next year to get the experience.

I would have absolutely no issue with all of our seniors/guys going pro skipping this game since it’s Florida... again. Seniors already have 2 wins over them and after Butt two years ago I don’t blame them at all

I don’t get all the hate. I work hard for my current company, but if I had a job interview tomorrow for a position that was going to pay me 20X, I sure wouldn’t stay up all night working on something not so important to my current company. I’d be doing everything I could to prep and make myself successful.

And I think most of us would do the same.

OK with this. Rashan had a fine year last year. This year, injuries definitely took out his best play. Give time for Uche, et al and see what we have for next year.

I am hoping Bush plays. We really need him.

Don't blame him. As a fan, I'm even having a tough time wanting to watch another game against Florida. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say he didn't play well this year because of the injury. I do think he needs to work on his pass rush technique to be good at the next level. Best of luck.

I can’t blame him one bit but I’m also not the least bit surprised. Can’t say much he has done has impressed me or surprised me during his uneventful career. I’ll take the Devin Bushes, Chase Winoviches and Josh Uches over Gary every time. Hope he accomplished much more in the league than he did in college. I’m sure he’ll impress at the combine and he’ll need to to make up for his tape.
