Gameday / Early Games Open Thread

Submitted by gwkrlghl on

The blog returns. Gameday is in Fargo. All of the noon games are boring. Actually Minnesota takes on San Jose State which features David Fales, a QB with legit NFL prospects. Will be interesting to see Minnesota against it's first non-abysmal competition. Upset watch in Minneapolis

VT friends some crap for this game.  tied 14-14 with Marshall after barely beating East Carolina Last week.  Really impressed with Marshall's QB Cato.

LOLZ Vandy tied with 0-3 UMASS in the second, 7-7 (!!!!!)

Whatever happened to Va Tech? They have had a lot of talent in Virginia the last 2 or 3 yrs and VT has gotten none of it. I mean how does that happen?

a lot of the top in-state talent in Virginia would leave the state. Usually VT would pick up or or two (typically the 4*/5* DTQB from the Tidewater area) but a lot of those guys would leave. Just go through the Rivals Virginia Top X players of any given year and I'd bet around half of the best player leave the state each year on average

Got a 3-2 barn burner going on over on the CBS Sports Network.  As a bonus, you get to see Army run the ball up the middle for two yards on every single play.  It's like going back in time and seeing 1950's football.

So with Guiton looking so good for OSU (yes bad opponents but he's still been fantastic), does Meyer ride him for the rest of the season and hope he can redshirt Miller and get two more years of (almost) guaranteed quarterback competency? I know I'd strongly consider it if I were in his position...

FAMU shows that great "Cover Who?" defense and Guiton throws to the customary receiver that no one remembered was there. That makes 326 yards of offense in the half for Ohio State.

So four touchdown passes in a quarter, six in a half, is that some kind of OSU record?

On a related note, do the Buckeyes have any other backup QBs they can throw in?  Maybe some that suck?

I'm really glad I shelled out for the full-season Gameplan package. While you guys have to settle for Minnesota-SJSU and Ohio St.-FAMU, I've got Duke-Pitt and CMU-Toledo up in here!
