For all the shit we give him for his defense, he was part of the crew (with Livers and Matthews, I think) that harassed Bates Diop into one of his worst games of the year. I think 5/17 shooting?

By far Michigan's best all-around game this season. Great performance by Beilein, the seniors, and the rest of the team! They deserved this one. What a great last game for the seniors in Crisler, especially for a player who has been such a major part of the team his entire four years here like MAAR. And all of this despite a poor 3-point shooting game. Just shows their potential.

Indeed. Aside from Poole, they didn't shoot very well at all, and still won by double digits. This game was a work of art defensively. If they play D like that AND have a hot shooting night, there's no telling what this team could do.

Why in the fuck didn't he put Hatch in with a 15 point lead and a minute left?

The Mlive article said he would be but that it was unknown if he'd put him in. Other undergrad assistants or managers have been eligible to be activated and have been activated.
I wasn't thinking about the med scholarship when I first posted, just the story that said it was possible he could play. I'm sure you're probably right but not sure it's a good rule if it is.
On the surface it would seem that if you let people on med scholarship play as walk on's that's a way to skirt the scholarship limits, but if they are deemed that medically limited then those aren't players that would give anyone a competitive advantage as long as they ensure the med eval is legit.
Obviously in Hatch's case there was no thought of him being able to legitimately compete at this level anymore and if they ever brought him in it would only ever be when a game was decided one way or the other.
It seems like they could easily have a mechanism to allow for exceptions in special circumstances like this with permission from the opposing coach & some league official giving the go ahead that they agree the game is over at this point and a player can be rewarded with a token moment.

If anyone can make the Mo muscle gif, please post it over and over again! He played with so much heart. He refused to lose! He has that Burke and Stauskas edge to him - it means more to him than nearly anybody in the league. Those type of players are champions! We may not hang a banner this year (we may still, though?), but regardless, Mo and his merry men have had some unforgettable wins over rivals!

I can't remember the last Michigan Beilein team I liked this much. They play hard, play D, and play for each other...I suspect its a close locker room.
