Friday POSBANG - Army/Navy Edition

Submitted by GoWings2008 on December 9th, 2022 at 4:05 AM

Pickings are slim as the only college football on this weekend is the classic Army vs Navy game.

As an Air Force Academy graduate, I'll be watching with interest, but not too much because we've already locked up the CinC Trophy, hashtag humblebrag.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend as we look towards New Years Eve!

Got the pleasure of seeing, in person, Army beat Navy for the first time in what must've been 15-16 tries back in 2016. Not a military family, no particular allegiances, but we sat on the Army side of the stadium and just seeing the pure joy and euphoria from all the fans and families around us was truly a sight to behold.

I've said for the last few years that Army/Navy is truly the last bastion of college football in its purest form. None of these guys are playing for an NFL contract. None of them are collecting NIL. None of them are bona fide superstar household names. They're guys just playing for each other, and eventually they'll all be working together to protect our sorry asses so we can sit back home, safe and sound, and enjoy the freedom of getting to complain about OSU getting into the playoff. But the pageantry that goes into the game, all of the tradition, and the old-time style of football that's played....man, sometimes its hard to beat.

For any big college football fan, this is a bucket list game. Its not the best quality of football play, but its among the highest quality of football games, if that makes sense.
