Question for anyone in this thread.

Not a big beer drinker, but having a grad party for my daughter this weekend and wondering if anyone has recommendations for a couple.of beer options I can supply for guests?

Thanks in advance for any advice!!

I will assume you will have a mix of people and ages. I would recommend getting 3 kinds of beer, an American light beer, an IPA, and a lager type beer.
just a guess something like Miller Lite, Sierra Nevada (not technically an ipa, but will satisfy ipa drinkers and others) and anchor steam or heineken.

these arent my favorites by any stretch but if you get three like that, there should be something that everyone will like.

hope that helps

I could see a whole selection from any one of the Michigan breweries. I'm more familiar with Bell's, so I'd mix Two Hearted, Oberon, Lager of the Lakes, and if you wanted a lite beer Light Hearted. I'm sure there are great alternatives from other breweries.

If you wanted something more mass market, I'm a big fan of the Mexican brews like Bohemia, Modelo Negra, Dos Equis, Tres Equis...I guess they don't make that anymore, or they call it Dos Equis Amber nowadays.

Celebrating the installation of our tankless water heater with a Jefferson's Ocean Aged.

Woke up yesterday morning to a lack of hot water.  After only nine years, our 75-gallon hot water heater had died.

Will celebrate later with the first shower since Wednesday morning.

My wife picked a good time to be out of town.

Was just installed so not sure yet. The installation was done by my client who is a plumbing contractor with about 15 trucks. He is very honest and strongly recommended the tankless at this point.

The only downside - from what I’ve been told - is that you can’t really have three or four water sources operating at one time.

Got one when we renovated a few years ago. We're happy with it. Need to have someone descale it yearly or so. Water here is pretty soft naturally so might need to do it more in a place with hard water I don't really know. Also on mine there is a port where it drips water (from condensation I assume) so I have a bucket I need to drain under it occasionally.

Coors Banquet here, as it's already a light enough beer for me.

Bought a 12-pack of it in bottles recently, "rediscovering" it for the first time in quite a few years.  It's actually a nice enjoyable summertime sip, one I had forgotten about with all the IPAs and various other craft beers I normally drink.

Alternating cans of Founders Solid Gold and LaCroix. We got the most recent PET scan results for my wife today, with some okay news and not so great information, so not in a super celebratory mood, yet not quite so bad as to entirely ruin a summer Friday evening.

Man, I don’t remember at this point.

It was 12 years old and rye, because everything else triggers a migraine.

And a Heineken and maybe a Coors banquet beer because my Thor-sized son likes utility beer.
Good god it’s wonderful to be alive.

I see the Peerless Straight Rye Whiskey trying to muscle its way into the picture on the left side.

Inspired me to enjoy some Peerless Single Barrel, Double Oak.  Excellent selection.

I'll take 3 fingers of that blanton's :O

Started off classy with a red bull bomb, shifted to boilermaker style Woodford reserve and goose island golden ale.

What can I say, been a long week!

Interesting article, strictly from an MGoPerspective.

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/07/15/millennials-are-to-blame-for-sky-high-inflation-strategist-says.html

Smead explained that in the U.S. there are an estimated 92 million millennials, primarily in the 27- to 42-year-old age bracket. “The last time we saw what we call ‘wolverine inflation’ — which is inflation that is hard for policymakers to stop — was when 75 million baby boomers had replaced 44 million silent generation people in the 1970s.”

in a never-before scenario, mrs. XM is making margaritas on the rocks, with lime and salt on the rim.  she is killing it.  and the kids are playing hoops in the driveway in the twilight.  doesn't get much better for a regular old friday night.  and it's her birthday.  her 26th, even though our 26th anniversary was wednesday.  i am never going to disabuse her of being 26.  she's wonderful.

EDIT:  and now rampant dancing has broken out, the entire family:

In between my temporary role as ...I could list about 100 things, all of which came down to adding to the handful of chores I normally do everything my wife normally does - maybe that's more like 1,000 things...while she recovers from arthroscopic knee surgery, I've indulged in a couple of Vesper martinis. Not quite the Casino Royale recipe: 3 parts Bombay Sapphire, 1 part Reyka Vodka, 1/2 part Noilly Pratt dry vermouth, several dashes of Fee Bros Gin Barrel Orange Bitters, and quelle horreur, a couple olives.

Another week and a half until she can ditch the crutches. I'm gonna need more gin.

Got into some Weller last night. Feel a whole lots better than I thought I would.

Question for the west side of the state: how available is Buffalo Trace in stores? Had a friend say he was going to make a run and pick up bottles for anyone wanting 1.

Whenever I start wondering if I drink too much all I have to do is visit the weekly MgoBlog what are you drinking thread and then I realize I’m basically a pathetic little teetotaler compared to everybody here.
