This team is not like house plants. These players are field corn which thrives anywhere.

And they don’t have to have their coach call out Pete Thamel or Finebaum on air to try to project their toughness because they prove it on the field.

I was going to refer to them as the Asshole Twins, but then I remembered a long-ago conversation with a co-worker. We were discussing a client who was gigantic pain the gluteus to everyone in our office. In a moment of venting, I referred to him as an "asshole."

My co-worker replied that no, he wasn't.

Why not, I asked.

She answered, because those things are actually useful.

That distinction fits so well with these two worthless clowns.

I happened to watch a clip on YouTube of something called The Matt Barrie Show, which is somehow affiliated with ESPN, in which the host and Paul Finebaum spent a good 5-6 minutes offering "commentary" that was nothing more than mocking 1) the image of U-M as an institution, 2) the Michigan fanbase as "sniveling", "insecure", etc., and 3) Sherrone Moore's post-game interview ("Last time I checked, Jim Harbaugh was still alive" - real comedy gold there). It was some of the most disingenuous, petty, and shallow commentary I've seen. I didn't expect much from Finebaum, but he was even more in jerk mode than he's been on other ESPN shows. As for Barrie, I hadn't heard of him before today, and I think that I was a better person for not knowing who he was.

Barrie does College Football Final (along with Ohio State slappy Joey Galloway and former Miss State coach Dan Mullen).  This is the recap of the days events in college football show that comes on late at night after the games are over.  It is the show that used to be done by Lou Holtz, Mark May, and Rece Davis.

Barrie's schtick is sarcasm about everything.  Galloway is just downright pissy about everything, especially Michigan.  Mullen is neutral.

I usually watch that show Sunday morning.  All year long Mullen has raved about how good Michigan is, but then always - ALWAYS - places them 5th in his CFP rankings.  Galloway at least puts them between 2-4.  But Galloway is a straight up asshat.  To end the show they played Moore's interview, and aside from Barrie's fake google if Harbaugh was still alive, Galloway was straight pissed that Moore was crying and said "why is that man crying, WHY?".  And he said it angrily.

Fuck those dumasses.

These two touched on academic reputation - and, essentially said Michigan isn’t anything special.

According to US News’ list of Global Universities - the SEC has two schools in the Top 100: Vanderbilt at 78th and Florida at 98th.   Those two are AAU members and fine schools.

Michigan is ranked 19th in the same list.

This is such a whiny and bogus complaint that I wish Michigan fans would wake up to how pathetic they look when making it.  The rule that was hastily implemented to deal with a Covid-shortened season requiring 6 games to qualify couldn't be met by OSU because three of their eight games were canceled.  That was beyond OSU's control, and they'd handily won all the games they did get to play, including defeating Indiana, the team that would have gone on (but not to the Rose Bowl, you've got that wrong) except for the rule change.

The hasty change to a hasty interim rule was not some great travesty of justice, it was an attempt to prevent a travesty of justice.  I'll be first in line to buy any "Fuck the Buckeyes" merchandise, but even I can see that this particular complaint against them is bullshit.

Didn't osu cancel their game against Illinois that season?

Yes, that whole season was a big cluster fuck.  Michigan having msu and psu at home with an empty stadium and fake crowd noise was not home field advantage.

You can say Michigan fans are "whiny" about rule changes but osuck fans are still crying about not playing Michigan in 2020 and think thats the only reason they haven't beaten Michigan since 2019.

They're an insane bunch of jive turkeys.

Great leaders and coaches imprint their character upon a team.  I'm really not sure what happened to Harbaugh 2017-2019 (won't include the Covid year), but he was not quite the fighting Jim of old, or the fighting Jim we see now.  Maybe the 2016 robbery in Columbus was too deep a wound

But this team, the past 3 years, has been the absolute embodiment of a Jim Harbaugh led team. Tough as nails, disciplined, brotherhood, and outworking your opponents everyday.

We are blessed to have Jim as our head football coach.

The injustice of the 2016 game, the ultimatum after 2020, two humiliating suspensions in one season…

These would crush a lesser man. But Coach Harbaugh says there are two options: get bitter or get better.  He chooses better.

I can’t wait to see what he does next.  He’s a championship coach - and he is our coach.

Theory:

After the Spot game, when the officials were obviously biased and cost Michigan the Game, Harbaugh wanted Michigan to get pissed at the B1G for such an obvious display of bias.

Instead, Warde made Jim apologize.

So, for a couple seasons, Jim was disenfranchised.

Ono stepped in and told Jim he'd back him if such a thing happened again and it rejuvenated him.

Then the B1G showed it's complete lack of character again and Ono now has Jim's back.

I think having mediocre QBs and don brown held Michigan back several years until he finally figured it out.

Also, look at Jims energy and actions on the sideline from the time he was at stanford, SF, and his first two years at Michigan. Remember him throwing the headset at osu (which he was unnecessarily flagged for) and him ripping off his coat during the 2015 psu game I believe it was.  Completely different from his mannerisms the past 3-4 years.  I think a lot had happened in his life on and off the field and age has something to do with it as well.

While his passion for the team is still there, he's definitely toned things down.

Easy money. I usually wait until friday or saturday to pick games but I did that this morning before it jumps to 24.5

I have to admit the Maryland game looked scary at the start of the season but they've taken a nose dive after a promising start.  They had a 17-0 lead at columbus a few weeks ago and have looked like shit ever since.

It takes an astronomical amount of cognitive dissonance for Penn state fans to cast aspersions of any kind, at any team, about any thing, let alone to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

What a bizarro world in which we live that Michigan could be considered a villain and that cesspool in Columbus some sort of paragon of virtue.

End fucking times.

"Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause. For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land. Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it."

My favorite thing right now is that since Friday, the team Twitter account has just become a troll account dedicated to Penn State snd other foes. Usually, it’s a pretty bland and corporate social media account, but since the ruling, it’s turned into the Wendy’s account.

At this point, I think they've realized that at least until the season is over, no one is going to let go of this story. People are going to want to get up on their moral high horse and try to tear Michigan down.

So what do you do? 1) You keep winning. Winning has a way of eventually shutting everyone up, and then 2) You own the s**t of your new identity. Pisses people off even more. As Tyrion would say, "wear it like armor, and it can never be used to hurt you."

Our players and coaches are to be admired and are saying the right things and wholeheartedly believe in what they say.

However, what has occurred in the last few weeks, especially late Friday and Saturday morning, took its toll. We have all been in spots in our life where we are falsely accused and know our accusers are wrong, but it still hurts and drains you. Ask someone who went through a divorce or custody battle and listened in open court to false allegations against them involving their children.

I went through it. Even when you’re right, it has a powerfully negative effect on you. In my case, the judge and many of the lawyers sitting in the courtroom waiting for their cases to be called on motion day knew me. They heard what was said about me. Even though I trusted that they knew me well enough to not believe what was said, it was humiliating and took its toll.

That was a handful of people. Imagine the Michigan players and coaches. Even if they knew they were in the right and were being unfairly accused, they also knew the whole world was hearing it and that included their family, friends, the players and coaches they played with, for or against in high school and college. it had to be gut wrenching for them. It is truly astonishing they were able to accomplish what they did on Saturday. If this had not happened at all, I’m confident that would have been a three score minimum beat down of Penn State.

This injunction decision is crucial. We need Harbaugh back on the sidelines and closure on this. If we lose in court on Friday, I don’t know if it can be reasonably expected that our players and coaches, without Harbaugh, and with an apparent validation of the B1G action by a judge, can overcome this going forward for the next two games. If they were able to do so, it would be one of the greatest accomplishments in the history of team sports.

For the sake of our players and coaches and for the sake of true justice, I hope and pray this judge makes the correct call. GO BLUE!!
