A few new football jersey numbers

The M-Den is now selling jerseys of current student athletes and a few newcomers have apparently chosen their numbers and two veteran players have taken a coveted single digit.

Brad Hawkins-2

Mike Sainristil-5

Ja'Den McBurrows-1

Tyler Mclaurin-27

Kechaun Bennett-52

Dominick Giudice-56

Louis Hansen-81

Tommy Doman-19

The rest of the numbers should be in the next phonebook.

If you take the plunge and buy one of these, I hope your jersey doesn't become obselete due to transfer or a number change.

I've made this point before, but Nike has apparently become very paranoid of imitation products and seemingly has the philosophy of forgoing the standard block font (which looks aesthetically perfect) for a goofy font whenever a school or team will agree to it (see the new Cleveland Browns numbers that are blocky at the bottom and round at the top with only one serif on the number 7). I'm with you on that, though.

Well sure that's the justification for us. But look around at other Nike schools such as MSU, LSU, Georgia, Florida, and even Oklahoma. Those schools pretty much used to have the same font that Bama still rolls with but the Knights of Phil in Oregon have tweaked every one of them over the last several years. It's to make it harder to buy bootleg jerseys either online or from someone outside the stadium who set up a canopy.

You keep repeating this like it's...

1. Actually going to happen.

2. A gimmick font.

WTF is a "gimmick font" anyway? Isn't that something where they truly mess with the number (see Hawaii below).

Outside of the #4 (and maybe the #2), there's barely a difference. But this isn't the first time I've seen you bring this up.

...it's really not that different, relax.

Matt Campbell isn't damn the near the same thing as Harbaugh. What a shitty analogy.

The numbers 8 of the 10 numbers are almost IDENTICAL.

And no one in football wears mesh jerseys. WTF are you talking about?

That's like me clamoring for leather helmets, I'd just sound like an idiot. Kind of like you every time you bring up the jerseys, lol.

If you were talking about the road white pants...I wouldn't say shit, you know why? BECAUSE THEY ARE SIGNIFICANTLY DIFFERENT THAN THE OLD MAIZE PANTS.

If you were talking about helmet decals...I wouldn't say shit, you know why? BECAUSE THEY ARE ALSO SIGNIFICANTLY DIFFERENT.

But you're bitching about numbers that are basically the exact same. Most people would never know the difference. It's not a completely different color, they don't have stickers all over them, and they're not the head football coach of another program.

Most of these were visible when they posted that freshman video. https://twitter.com/UMichFootball/status/1400165242689163266

Looks like they're still adding them throughout the day. Daylen Baldwin (85) wasn't there when I checked earlier.

Still missing from the new guys: Jordan Whittley, Alan Bowman, and Ike Iwunnah. Whittley wore #50 at Oregon State, Bowman wore #10 at TTU (Cristian Dixon took that this spring) and Iwunnah wore #90 in high school but Mike Morris has that now. So it may be those guys are still competing for their digits.

Is it just me or does Brad Hawkins seem like he's been on the team forever?

Not a complaint about the kid at all. Just feel like I've been hearing his name pop up on the roster for years.

He never redshirted as he played on special teams his freshman year, but he's coming back for a 5th year taking advantage of the Covid year of eligibility.

I'm actually curious what ever happened to Quinton Johnson who was supposed to be an athletic stud, but we haven't heard boo about him in his first two years.  Hopefully the coordinator change will be good for him.  I'm hoping some combination of Johnson, Moran, Moten, & Paige get some experience because assuming Dax leaves early two of them are our starting safeties in '22.
