ESPN has been hemorrhaging money for years, they have to make up for it somehow.

Don’t you notice them slandering the Big Ten at will once they lost their TV deal with them?

At some point we need to accept that this is on Harbaugh and Warde. I’d hate to see Harbaugh go because he finally has this thing humming and I’d love to see him spite the ncaa.

but… they’ve made three horrible hires between Weiss, schemmy, and Stalions. It’s now a pattern. The scary thing is that Stalions is the least problematic character of the three and he’s batshit

Bad PR lasts a week, maybe a month. Coach Harbaugh is doing legendary shit.

Ask any college football fan about about stretch gate and they will have no clue what you are talking about. (Obviously OSU/MSU trolls not included)

You think bosses dont have tons of bad employees? Also Stalions made 55k is that a position you want Harbaugh to take several days looking at as hire running a $100 million a year program. Grow up.

The "multiple states" thing really has me wondering what he did. I always assumed he just accessed some area of Michigan's computer system/records that he wasn't supposed to. Maybe because he was looking at confidential records of students from different states, and that makes each occurrence a separate crime? I dunno.

Weiss hasn’t been associated with Michigan for the better part of a year and UM Police have been working on this with the FBI for months. This isn’t a new development.

Trying to figure out what the issue is. Unless you’re an OSU fan which means we should all be in jail.

Yep - this is all part of a coordinated negative PR campaign / information operation being waged against Michigan right now.  It doesn't matter that there's no "news" in it.  It's just there to keep the negative news cycle going to create pressure and hope Michigan reacts stupidly and starts suspending or firing people to quiet the critics.

Honestly, I know this won't happen, but I'd love for the University of Michigan to file a libel tort claim against these "journalists" who are painting everything so negatively. Of course this would be after the dust settles on all of this. I understand the principles behind the tort claims, so I understand I'm reaching. But I want to see a scorched earth approach after this.

I said this elsewhere but the fact the FBI is involved and it crosses state lines isn't particularly surprising - if you try to scam someone/use interstate services that exist in other states then it's not a surprise the FBI might get involved.  It's as much a jurisdictional issue as anything else.  For example, crypto scams are considered something the FBI would investigate because it's crossed state lines and the "FBI" is the Federal Bureau of Investigation - they're the investigative arm of the federal government . So while this does sound serious for Weiss the fact he's not in jail makes me think this isn't necessarily sinister as much as shitty.

PR Manager: "What do you have for us today NCAA?"

Stapleton: "Sorry guys, I've gotta get out a statement about a 'writer'."

PR Manager: "Okay Tough Guy, watcha got"

Day: "Sorry fellas, I'm coaching Third Base for my nephew's game today."

PR Intern: "Hey, did you guys hear about the FBI involvement in the Matt Weiss deal?"

PR Manager: "Didn't the FBI get involved a long time ago?"

PR Intern: "Yeah, but does anyone know that other than Michigan and its rivals?"

PR CEO: "Love it! I'll get this to our friends at ESPN. Let's try and do better tomorrow."
