Morgan Trent,

Allen Jefferson…
Concur 100%
Full 100M I can’t see anyone beating him. Shame that injuries derailed his career.
40 times:
Daxton Hill
4.30 seconds
Denard Robinson
4.32 seconds
Desmond Howard
4.35 seconds
Roman Wilson
4.37 seconds
Ambry Thomas
4.37 seconds
Leon Hall
4.38 seconds
Braylon Edwards
4.38 seconds
Devin Bush
4.43 seconds
Nico Collins
4.43 seconds
Charles Woodson
4.44 seconds
Jabrill Peppers
4.46 seconds
Tyrone Wheatley
4.53 seconds
It seemed like Denard played faster than 4.59.
He got up to top speed in a hurry.
This. Denard's first two steps were wicked ... which is why so many -- particularly early on -- misjudged him and missed.
I think that's a big reason Biakabatuka was so good. He had those explosive first couple steps out of the backfield. By the the time the LB's could react, he was already through the hole.
I think Braylon ran in the mid 4.3s
I’m pretty sure Leon Hall is the fastest Wolverine at the NFL combine since 1999. He ran a 4.39.
I'm pretty sure if they aren't actual laser times they aren't accurate, so any time mentioned that wasn't at the combine doesn't count.
A little surprised there have only been 10 wolverines that break a sub 4.5 forty. I would have thought there would have been more. What about Devin Bush?
Honestly I'm sure there are. I'm not sure where a good database is to check everyone. Would be pretty cool if there was one.
Xavier worthy?......too soon?
Not to be a bitch, but that Nico Collins is 100% nonsense
McGuffie ran a 4.35 at the combines, i believe
Alan "Cowboy" Walker.
Antonio Bass?
Daxton Hill ran a laser timed 4.30. Doubt anyone else has been faster.
Tyrone Wheatley went to the Olympic Trials.
His Wikipedia page says this:
his high school 100 meters time (10.59 seconds, 1990) continues to rank third in MHSAA history
Maybe some of those guys mentioned beat him from 0 to 40 yards, but once he got going, no one was catching him.
Love Tyrone, but he would have been behind Denard at a track meet. He ran a 10.44 in high school.
"Love Tyrone, but he would have been behind Denard at a track meet. "
Depends on the event.
Wheatley was Big 10 Champion in the 110m hurdles.
Wheatley also ran a legit 10.46 100M in college - a time I'm more likely to believe than 10.44 (which as far as I can tell was actually a 10.56 official) HS time.
I think Butch Woolfolk should be on this list.
Bingo! Woolfolk had to 100M school record in 1980 before it was eclipsed in 2009. Woolfolk still holds the 200M record at 20.59 sec. The running shoes were heavier than they are now and the track surfaces were not as fast either.
Jabrill Peppers run back an MSU 2 pt conversion attempt from one end zone to the other in what would have been a near school record at 100M and in full pads and cletes.
I would keep Denard in the Top 3 fastest all time for how fast he was on the field during a game.
It would be fun to see this list categorized by position group if anyone has the time or desire (sorry I have no time or I would!)
Is there any money involved?
If such a guide existed, that would be super.
Lol. I see you Vlad!
I’m sure if it exists WD has it
Justin Feagin
Mike Jones?
Who!
How do you determine fastest, 100yds, 40yds, 60yds or the mile?
I would say “fastest” is top speed attained in mph without any distance or time requirements.
“Quickest” would imply a time/distance parameter and be measured as the shortest time between two predetermined points, e.g. 40 yards.
I've sufficiently over-thought this.
Allen Jefferson
Allen Jefferson in 2013. He was probably still much faster than me.
oh, man, absolutely. that guy was a hot rod.
Does anyone have a 40 time for Anthony Carter? Concur on Butch being NCAA track fast; but from what I saw AC simply looked faster. My memory of AC in the BigHouse was he was never, ever covered and never saw a db ever get the angle on him. Not. Once.
The two names I heard UM coaches mention but without a specific time or qualification were Chuck Winters and Antonio Bass
It's Deez #69
Idk but I sure wish all these names were on the roster now! Would have liked to see Xavier Worthy here as well... this year.
felman malveaux was supposedly as fast as anyone…ended up going solely to the track team.
Never mind stopwatches and laser timing. Denard wins the eyeball test. On the field, in actual competition, no one in a Michigan uniform has ever run away from people like him. No other player has scared opponents with his speed more than Denard.
agreed - i don't remember anyone as *football fast* as denard. if he got a seam he was almost impossible to take down.
the other guy that had incredible football speed was wheatley. i still remember being in the stadium against iowa (i think?) in 1992. i happened to be listening to the radio broadcast while i watched (nobody does this anymore, sadly). anyway, wheatley took this simple off-tackle to the left, got to the hole, and on the broadcast hanlon screamed "he's GONE" before he was even to the next level. nobody touched him until he was in the end zone, 80-plus yards later. he was like a bolt of lighting when he got going.
