Emoni Bates to reclassify to 2021
Ypsi Prep must be one incredible school! Was able to do 2 school years in 1, and all while traveling around the country playing basketball
With all the credit recovery, and online classes basically every public high school takes advantage. This isn't a surprise. You don't have to sit in boredom 7 hours a day 5 days a week anymore.
Now whether he actually did the necessary work is a matter I don't know, but neither do you.
I am a teacher who is part of two programs of alternative education/ online credits.
Yeah and every kid in my district in online school is in danger of failing out not go to college. This school is a complete Sham
Rumors swirling he and Duren want to play together. Common denominators are Memphis and the G League. Can Penny buy both?
Yes, and it’s totally above board, now.
So can Penny pay them to advertise the Memphis basketball team?
No. Anyone else can pay them to do just about anything legal. If Penny happened to mention it to a friend that this guy would be a good ambassador for a business, I am sure an arrangement could be made. Of course, the conversation never happened and the friend hires the athlete to help grow the business. There are many slips betwixt a cup and a lip.
Is not a little late for this? Our incoming freshman have been on campus for a while, practicing with the team and working out. At what point is he going to decide?
Waiting on the dining hall menus.

If he shows up in October…the school he picks will welcome him with open arms.
Hopefully he picks Memphis or the Ducks.
I imagine he’ll go to the G League but I am hoping and praying he goes to Memphis just to watch RCMB burn
I'm not sure why he wants people to think he's considering college.

He wants people to think he’s considering college in order to leverage a bigger offer from the pros. Or from rival schools, for that matter. He’s negotiating.
I'd bet he goes to EL. they've been quiet and it's close to home and no decision tends to go that way in the end.

Izzo has a three key selling points
1- You have liked us all your life. That’s why you committed to us early.
2- No one cares about core classes here. You will easily be admitted
3- When you are not practicing you can work on NIL making big money. Our tutors can help you write your papers. In fact, all you will have to do is sign your name. It’s hard to flunk out of this place. But if you do, by the time you flunk out we’ll be national champs.

I think the pg Akins and Bates really dislike each other. I’m not sure Izzo gets both and he is probably more loyal to Akins.
I would be.
The RCMB is between a rock and a hard place in this regard. In recent years Izzo has shown that he can no longer coach talent. I can only imagine the downward spiral that would precipitate should Bates choose to be a Spartan.
This--at this stage--kinda goes in the sowhatwhocares basket.
Just read that he’ll be too young to enter the 2022 NBA Draft, so I think he goes to college this year then does the G-League thing next season.

If your plan is to go the G league route, why not just go there right away?

I can think a coed number of reasons why you might want to do a year at college when youre ineligible for the NBA; especially if you're getting paid either way.
You think a future first round pick couldn’t meet girls while in the G League?
I think in this scenario, you get the best of both worlds. Spend a year on a college to have that experience then go to the G-League the following season to get a year of pro seasoning before he hits the NBA.
I doubt there's many cute coeds hanging around the G league.
Going to college gets him away from dad, out of the house, and to a potential starting point of independence. Best wishes for Emoni's health, success, and future!
I don't want to knock a kid for doing his thing but I really think Emoni will be a headache. And really to me it looks like he developed early. I really think several players in his respective classes will have longer more efficient careers. He is striking while the iron is still hot. Good Luck to him and his family!
By most accounts he’s a pretty laid back kid.
Surely reclassifying this late for '21 severely limits his options. Who has an open roster spot at this late date? Can a school now pay him"100K" in "NIL" to be a "walk-on"?
I hope he does to State. That sideshow would be hilarious to watch.
A kid who only shoots 30x times a game who doesn’t pass, rebound, play tough defense, or has played in actual system(trust me Lincoln’s coach is a clown) going to a college coach who demands all that. Sign me up for that reality show

So, you wouldn’t want him here if he wanted to play for Juwan ?

Double post
Spread your wings, Emoni! Go be a Duck!

Nice, another professional athlete with a ton of money and influence who has no education. I'm not exactly excited considering the vax pushback in the NFL.
