Elias Rudolph set announcement date (July 3rd) and cancels his visit to OSU...
I believe it was noted in another thread that we only needed out first DE to commit to start the onslaught for that position.
Just connecting some dots here, but here is an article noting that Elias Rodolph tweeted last night that he has set his announcement date for July 3rd and also cancelled his OSU visit....
I sometimes wonder what would happen if they did gave good coaching? would they be unbeatable with a top 5 defense?
if you switched coaching staffs of the schools ,OSU would be undefeated and I think Michigan would be a perennial. 650 team
A top 5 defense at OSU? That would be scary but will never happen under clueless-on-defense Ryan Day.....I least I hope not
2019
That was Day coaching Meyer's players.
The fact they didn't win a national championship is honestly still shocking - it was one of the most talented college football teams of all-time.
I kind of want Urban Meyer to come out of retirement and coach the Buckeyes just so Harbaugh could get one last shot at beating that guy. Harbaugh should have at least 2 wins over him but a few unfortunate errors and bad luck prevented it. It just doesn't feel right, the record being what it is now.
I know it will never happen and I wouldn't want to subject those players to Urban's bullshit, but it would feel right to finally get one over on that guy. For real.
Well it would be without JJ and many other key players.
Hopefully it’s Ryan Day. I’m still hopeful they’re getting worse slowly every year since Urban Meyer left. Let’s see how he does with a new qb this year.
Going forward, we beat them again and increase our Ohio recruiting. If they can’t beat Michigan, their recruiting will fall off. Even with a good new coach, they wouldn’t start on 3rd base.
Not saying it is likely. But there is a path.
Day will have another winning season, ending 10-2 with his 3rd consecutive loss to Michigan. Probably win a bowl game and be on the hot seat (in the eyes of buckeye nation) going into '24...
Beating them 4 in a row will be tough, not impossible..... he may get a win in The Game '24 and then head to the nfl leaving the team to Hartline..... who, being the home state kid..... will likely be the coaching hire that gets too much leash and is in over his head (the RR/Hoke hire)..... starting the decline that they so much deserve.
Go Blue
Relax, yes we beat them 2x, and look well positioned for the Fall, however, let's not forget they still made the CFP last year even after taking a beat down...
There is no 2-9 in their near futures.
We wish we had it that good during the RichRod/Hoke walk in the desert.
Only reason osucks were in the playoff was because their backed their sore asses in after USC shit the bed.
And Sparty too.
I am afraid that is unlikely. They have a pretty good coach in waiting (Hartline). In fact, I would rather see him leave for NFL than Day.
Hartline is green and unproven. This will be his first season even calling plays. Maybe he turns out to be a good coach, but elevating him to head coach is the type of rash and risky decision that could trigger their downfall.
that's what i'm proposing
Mel Tucker?
Let the fireworks begin!
Really, really happy that we will have our best team this upcoming fall on the heels of destroying OSU the last two seasons.....
Correction Ohio had just a passing interest in Rudolph, and cancelled his visit prior to him cancelling. LOL
yeah they cooled in him lol
Not to get down on the guy, but 205 seems super light for an end. Must be a bit of a project
Josh Uche was 212 lbs coming into Michigan. This recruit still has almost a year until he gets to Michigan. He'll be fine. Guessing he won't play his first year, but Herbert will have him ready in 2-3 years.
No joke but on 11W theyre saying Rudolph is underweight for a DE and whoever takes him will be taking a big risk.
Cant make it up.
Their boards are diminishing the fact this transpired but are also optimistic landing the 5* DL and Dylan Stewart. No idea why Stewart wants to go their based on the D’s trajectory.
11W also believe they will land Eddrick Houston, a 5* DE from Georgia. 247 has 2 crystal balls for Houston to OSU from Wiltfong (247) and Kurelic (Bucknuts) with a confidence level of 6.
OSU also has 3 CBs for 4* Edge Marquise Lightfoot (Wiltfong, Kureic and Trieu) all with a confidence level of 6.
They still recruit at a high level down in heart of darkness. We need to beat them year in and year out to bring them down.
Yeah, living in Central Ohio, I get a ton of info on who they're recruiting and it sounds like they're in on some bigtime DEs and both Lightfoot and Houston - especially Houston - seem to be strong OSU leans right now. There's also another 5-star that they're in on but I can't think of his name right now
Not sure what really happened with Rudolph but he might have the highest upside of any DE in the country as he's cat quick and just needs some weight which our training staff can take care of. I'll take him in a heartbeat.......sign him up !!!!
And on/off-topic but Taylor Tatum cancelled his visit this weekend…
USC bound as if it wasn’t obvious.
That's a bummer. Marshall seems legit though and any back would be crazy to not want to run behind our line. How many four star linemen do we have committed to this class now? Six? Seven? (I'm counting the high 3-star center as a 4-star.)
If you listen to Sam Webb, they seemed just as high on Micah as they were with Tatum. A lot to like with Micah. Sounds like it was abundantly clear he wasn’t a runner up type RB
I think Sam is putting a positive spin on it. Tatum is one the best backs in the country and Michigan treated him as such. I think they just lost out and went with their back up plan.
I like the sound of this!
Players like this who cancel their OSU and visit, and commit to us, are special in my eyes.
The spin from them has already started. From Bucknuts...
"It wasn't him that canceled. The visit was canceled for him."
"We're in on some big names. Rudolph is 5th or 6th on our board."
"We weren't recruiting him that hard."
Last week, they were already counting him as a commit. Today, he was processed because they're in on higher rated guys.
Food for thought... maybe if Michigan wants him, maybe you should too. Oh wait, but Michigan actually developes young players.
Buckeyes whistling past the grave yard.
After the last two seasons, I don't think "we passed on a DL recruit Michigan wanted" is the diss they once thought it was. Even more so after having three Top-20 national recruits in Harrison, Sawyer and JTT at DE and only 1 of them has had a remotely memorable performance in college? (JTT vs. PSU)
Anybody questioning UM's staff on identifying and developing DL talent at this point simply doesn't pay attention or has been living in a cave since 2020.
Sean Clifford throws 3 interceptions all to defensive linemen. I'm glad they came into November undefeated, but what a dumb game.
How do you process a player that was never committed to you in the first place?!? Ohio is good for all the laughs!
Just waiting for one of the neighbourhood OSU concern trolls to remind us that he wasn't a take because they have their eyes on a couple of 5-Stars....
Yeah, yeah...
I hope they get Raiola'd again....
Moeller was never 4-0 v OSU. He was 3-0-1 his first four years. He finished 3-1-1 vs the Buckeyes.
Can’t believe you forgot the tie. That was the crazy 1992 season, when Michigan finished 9-0-3.
I was at the 1992 tie against OSU and Illinois.
He went for 2 late in the game against Illinois. We got hit with a five yard penalty and he still went for 2. Chart must of said so. Of course we missed the 2 and would have won the game if he kicked the point.
Was also there. It's been awhile but I thought UM kicked a long late FG to tie Illinois as time ran out. Disappointing result as that ILL team wasn't that good IIRC.
You are correct about the late FG. I don't remember the going for 2... must have been forgotten among all the fumbles.
My friend's dad was faculty at OSU and we sat in the faculty section at OSU for that game. We had very polite trash talk with them, but trash talk never-the-less. At the end of the game we all shook hands and then went home and made out with our sisters. Ties are lame. That was a super weird year.
Sounds like a win to me!
Yeah buddy!!
I typically cancel my OSU visits as well. Smart kid.
Buckle up
Kinda hope OSU did cancel the visit. His hatred for them will fuel a destructive fire.
Meh, I dont ever see them taking a recruiting dip, they will always get the talent.
Just keep beating them and I dont give a shit what they do, when they do it, and how they do it. I hope we whoop their asses again come November.
