Eli Brooks Player of the Game

I know it will never happen, but some day I want Eli to go off like he did today and end the game with a dunk and say to the other team... "Game....Blouses...."

For the Gen Zers who are too young to remember The Chappelle Show, here is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ff8LEx9Mw54

If he can keep this up, this will be one of the biggest surprises I can remember.  He was a nobody last year, and struggled when given the opportunity, I thought he was destined for a PT transfer.  Give credit where it’s due, this kid has some amazing work ethic to develop his game from where it was last year to where it is now.

Attaboy Eli!

It was obvious to me that last year, that his non ideal performance was due to being in Simpsons shadow somewhat, and rightly so, but it just didn't mesh.  Brooks is a very good player and I had to say it repeatedly to the haters here...   it isn't a coincidence that he thrived after Simpson fouled out.  He is good player... and by the way, so is DeJulius.... both those guys took it to UNC, especially late.. they looked to be the best players on the court, and that is saying something.  We are in great hands next year after Simpson is gone.

We knew he was a good player because National Championship winning Villanova fought hard for him in recruiting.  I think his early trouble here was the learning curve Beilein guards have always had.  That transition, and the (seemingly) looser play under Howard, appear to have lit off his confidence.  We saw the beginning late last year with his defensive play, and now we're seeing the complete package - what both Beilein and Jay Wright saw from him in high school.

Boomers were, on average, about 50+ years old when the Chappelle Show came out. Very far from the target market for the show. I'm a Gen Xer, you silly Millennial, and more often than not on your side... ;-)

There were a few times last season, that I thought it was obvious that Brooks was the best player on the court to me, but the offense ran through Simpson, and it wasn't working for both.  So be it.  Sam was wronger than wrong and am looking forward to hearing him say so on the radio.

I feel like Bell received more of the Blake O'Neil treatment. Objectively really good player who had one bad moment (not on the scale of O'Neil, but still). I think a football equivalent for Eli would be like if Jeremy Jackson became our #1 receiver his senior year. Seemed a transfer was more likely than becoming a star, but here he is..
