Well we're not getting any facts from the media.

This is where we're at, that a poisonous toxic platform named for twits is getting us information because the media won't move past the very fucking first tweet by an MSU homer calling it a "scuffle".  The media is two days out of sync in 2022 so this is what we've got left.

"It has been a long, long time since the American mass media was remotely reliable."

And, unfortunately, it appears things are going to continue to spiral downward. Both sides of the aisle are at fault. Social media just exacerbates the fact that people, as a whole, have a lot of not-so-good things inside.

Makes one thankful for a coach who truly is trying to be a good guy, even with a few fits and starts. I am quite glad-to-be a Michigan Wolverine.

Both sides of what aisle? The media and what?

Crissakes this is the problem. The narrative out of the gate was that this attack was a “scuffle” in brazen effort to both-sides an attack with one clear guilty party. And now you’re “both sides”-ing when we’re talking about an industry where a second side doesn’t even exist!

"Both sides" is not a reliable take to look like the Smart One in the room with minimal effort.  There is no looking at ten guys whaling on a guy with a bum leg and then oozing "both sides" out of your keyboard like pus from a runaway infection.  And now you just "both sides" because. . . FFS, why the fuck did you "both sides" just now?!  It's Pavlovian at this point!

"Both sides of what aisle?"

dragonchild, I completely understand your criticism of my response. But I stand by it.

Unfortunately, your statement about "ten guys whaling on a guy" no longer matters in today's media.

Perhaps ten victims were hitting the privileged guy, and we should all feel sorry for the ten and be angry that the privileged guy was allowed to receive much less than he deserved.

Prove me wrong. And don't pretend that what I see on the video is any evidence.

And please excuse the angry sarcasm. But no, today an angry mob attacking one defenseless person is no longer proof of wrong doing. I dearly hope sane minds prevail, but I am not placing any money on the outcome.

Also, the majority in the media are handling things right, but a long legal battle lies ahead.

What idiotic takes. The media has been all over this story, flatly condemning the assaults and airing footage. What else do you expect reporters to do within 48 hours? They don’t just get access to everyone’s security cameras and iPhones. There’s a process. The media doesn’t simply exist to produce something that immediately validates your interests, unless you’re talking about Fox News. Chill out.

My preference would be quite the opposite of “condemning” anything.  I am seeking just the facts.  And if only “the facts” were being reported, it would be “two Michigan players assaulted post-game, details forthcoming when available.”  There are all kinds of media members spinning everything.  That is exactly what I would seek to eliminate.  Trustworthy media doesn’t get to have “opinions” except an occasional editorial clearly marked as such.  The media doesn’t make things true by reporting, it reports occurrences.  It observes and reports.  Or at least that is what it should do.

Twitter isn't all bad, you have some great information that comes in through individuals sharing their expertise.  You just have to avoid the garbage.  It's like being in a jungle.  You could find the cure for cancer or you could be killed by a frog.  🤷‍♀️  But I quit all social media about a year ago because I couldn't stop being pissed off at all those frogs.

Frogs are poisonous to avoid getting attacked.  Leave 'em alone and they'll happily leave you alone.  Jungles are important and endangered.  Twitter is poisoned by its own residents.  It's deliberately poisoned.  If you want to compare it to something, go with Zone Rouge -- completely man-made and permanently toxic.  It's like planting land mines and spraying poison all over your own neighborhood.  You're so miserable and bored and psychopathic that you'll salt and mine your own earth, simply to drag others down to your own level of paranoia and misery.  No, not everyone who lives there is bad, but that doesn't make it worthwhile to visit.

But now the media relies on Twitter, to an extent even lazier than Twits themselves.  The "scuffle" narrative still has legs because the major media outlets (ostensibly with resources) are still going off the very first MSU homer tweet.  At this point we know that ESPN and SI are glorified retweet shops because they clearly didn't even watch the clip of McBurrows getting mobbed -- it's less than a minute FFS!

Re Twitter feed comment, due to the change in ownership, I'm going on a strict Twitter fast and urge others to do the same.

I may be an old crotchity man, but I'm an old crotchity man concerned for the state of our democracy, the toxic speech expressed in the "digital town square" that has led to an inexplicable assault on an old man (Pelosi) and which has taken a heated rivalry game and turned into a bloody mess (Lloyd's Tunnel).

A couple of points:

1. 97.1 sucks and I stopped listening years  ago.  If the Statee slappies are still on in the afternoon … 🤮🤮🤮🤮   Much rather listen to WTKA replay on YouTube

2. Placing blame on UM players because they walked up a tunnel is wrong.  Asking them to stand aside because Tucker, MSU Football program, or their University can’t control their players is wrong. That’s like saying I can’t walk down a street through a protest because police can’t guarantee my safety.  Yes you can guarantee. You arrest the assholes and throw them in jail.
