Early 2000s recruiting- Tell me about Sean Sanderson

Submitted by UMxWolverines on
I'm currently vacationing in Treasure Island, FL with the girlfriend. We were in the pool and a guy asked everyone if it would be okay if he played some music off his phone and speaker. We said sure and we got to talking about where we're from and what we do. He is from Knoxville, TN and owns a landscaping company. I asked him if he was a Vol fan and he said yes but they make it tough sometimes and went into how they ran off Fulmer and hired crap coaches after that and Butch is turning it around but needs time. I mentioned that they had a lot of tough losses last year and he agreed and I mentioned the MSU game we had and he didn't seem to know what I was talking about. Anyway he mentioned he played against 2001 Michigan recruit Sean Sanderson in high school. He mentioned he came from quite a wealthy family and that he thought he just didn't have to put in any effort in college because he didn't in high school. Anyway I tried to look up some recruiting stuff on him and didn't find much. Just that he was eventually kicked off the team. Does anyone remember his recruitment? Or what transpired once he was here?

mostly already been mentioned. big fullback, took a year off for studies, architecture, and never made it back on the team. met him once at a party and he was explaining how he was coming back. obviously that never happened.

Big, real big fullback from somewhere in TN. Recall him playing for awhile with a cast of some type of his hand. Carr, well the whole staff actually thought he'd be among the best FBs UM ever had. Had the size, can't recall if he was regarded as a pass catcher, but blocker, of course. But what made him special and different, was his speed. He was big, as I said. I think in excess of 260, but he had running skills and speed, lots of speed.

I believe it was lack ot interest, because it didn't take long for him to spend more time in the dog house than the backfield. They young men was probably correct. I think what did him in was lack of work ethic.

Carr used to line him up in the slot, which was pretty hillarious when you saw a 270lb fullback against a 5'9 175lb corner.  It went about how you expected, he ran until the lb/dl caught him.  I was really dissapointed when he left the program.  Carr said he had amazing hands and he seemed like an unfair weapon when utilized that way

"Cool story bro" from New Year's Day 2013. I was out in LA visiting other Michigan friends in our annual LA New Year's trip (which started with the 2004 Rose Bowl) and we ended up watching the Outback Bowl at one of the alumni bars. He seemed like a pretty chill guy. None of my friends recognized him when he said his name but I knew his history. Bonus from that day: Rudy Tomjanovich was also at the bar.

i know a guy whose name used to be Sean Sanderson. He goes by Sam now. Sam Losco. I'd says he's a real greasy guy, lives out of a camper -- almost caveman-like.

I was going to try to find some video of Sanderson online, but I quickly realized he was the 2nd string fullback behind BJ Askew.  I'm sure clips are out there, but will be limited.

He played only in 2002, so if you search that year you might find him once in awhile.

Sanderson had great potential - big, atheltic kid that a lot of people thought was going to be really special.  Word on the street was that he liked beer way too much and ended up getting kicked off the team.

He got lost in the cyber punk movement and took some pills in a desperate attempt to get out of the matrix. Unfortunatly,it was a particualrly pure form of LSD. While he did, in fact, believe for a brief period to have seen "real reality", sadly he awoke in prision with a number of video-verified charges of vandalism, theft, and the kidnapping of a baby gorrilla.
