Didn't see this posted: Michigan Monday, something about corn.

Amazing how the tone of these has changed in the last year.  It took a second ass-whooping for Gerdeman to move from witty snark to a clear undertone of concern that, unfortunately, seems to inhibit the witty snark.  This week he's going into some silly analysis of Michigan's pass defense numbers that seems not particularly relevant in the context of our blowouts and our wounded secondary, and more like him projecting his hope that Kyle McCord will feast despite having no tackles to protect him.

the last couple he's had some not-so-funny shade/snark toward us, but not this time.  more like a hat-tip to acknowledge some awesomeness in virtually every phase of the game and some number crunching on stats.

you can smell the fear.

That team is getting waxed by Michigan. It’s a toughness issue and until they get that figured out, UM will have their number. Just wait.

Wait till he has to endure playing Maryland. If OSU fans wanna continue believing a ND team who we would have beat by 21 points is the best offense and team they’ll play all season. They need to be ready to clinch ass.

Idk man. So much talk of our schedule but of all the playoff teams Ohio has had, they’ve had their fair share of charmin soft schedules themselves and I don’t recall a whole lot of conversation about “muh- we just don’t know who Ohio state is yet- womp womp womp…”.

Back to back B1G champs, back to back playoff appearances, back to back Joe Moore O-line, all the returning starters, producers and coaches- is there really that much question that this is who Michigan is at this point?

Oh - not ND, please.   I remember what happened the last time Michigan played them - it was a night game - I believe in October - in Ann Arbor.  It rained a little - and, Michigan barely escaped with a 45-14 win.   The final result was much, much closer than the score...

Thought it read pretty good for the hated opposition.   Never hear a republican or democrat say the same things about each others performance.   Better than Urban calling for a Nebraska win.    Thanks for sharing.  It was fun

Here is my analysis for Gerdman:

Roman Wilson:  8 receiving TDs

OSU total:  7 receiving TDs

Roman is single-handedly outperforming the entire OSU passing offense.

Suck it Buckeyes.

This stat says as much good about JJ McCarthy as it says there's cause for concern re: Kyle McCord.

If Roman Wilson has more TDs than the entire OSU Team (granted, M has played one more game than OSU), then it says something about McCord's ability and OSU's fall-off at QB this year.

That was a fun read. I don’t know what to make of his point that opponents haven’t passed statistically significantly worse against M than other teams. I suppose that could be meaningful information. Or it could just be what Brian and Seth mean when they say Michigan doesn’t take teams seriously. Either way, I hope the pass D continues to improve a lot.

I hate to say it like this, because i think fans make excuses for their teams all the time - but this year there have been some extremely lucky/blooperish catches made against us.  Long ones too.

Plus i would also venture to say about half of all receiving yards are coming when the game is 30-0 and in the 4th quarter against our 3rd team DBs.

Mostly agreed. If we were to leave our starters in all game of every game, our defensive stats would be just stupid. I think we would have given up maybe 10 total points if I’m not mistaken? Maybe 13?  There was the one long touchdown against Rutgers. What else?

it’s entirely possible we would have 2 or 3 shutouts and an average PPG allowed of 2.

edit: and probably an avg ypg allowed around 150, maybe even less.

"For comparison’s sake, if 42% of Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s catches went for touchdowns in 2021, he would have scored 40 times."

I chuckled when I read this line...for obvious reasons.  There are at least 42-27 reasons to LOL at this.

Ha. That was a pretty good article. I didn’t catch any major disrespect at all really. Definitely some snark but just a funny take on what other pundits are saying. The whole, OSU might not score more than a touchdown against Michigan thing at the end is a nice touch. Don’t say it out loud.

Not bad. I can smell the fear. It seems he is banking on our pass D being exploited and possibly pick sides, by the snark in the last line of the article.

I think the pass D will continue to improve and we are missing a key DT. And relying pick sixes is not the way to win a game against this team. While JJ may have a bad game, he is also capable of making enough offensive plays in the same game to rip it open. When he is on, he is unstoppable along with the run game. When he is off, he will make enough plays along with a good running game. I guess a mediocre UM offense would still beat almost all the teams on it schedule and possibly all.

Lovely to see him grasping at the thinnest of threads, trying to manufacture a possible area where Michigan's defense might possibly be lacking.

The fact is that Michigan's defense has put a cork in the best offense OSU has had in a generation the last two years, and this year Michigan's defense looks to be better than the last two versions, while OSU's offense has regressed. Combine that with having to travel to Ann Arbor for The Game and you can see OSU fans already starting to pucker up.

It's so great to see where the majority of the OSU fanbase is at right now. For the most part, they are all still in the "denial" phase of fandom where they still think their team is better than Michigan and dismiss the deficiencies of their team with a plethora of excuses.

But you can see that they are   r  i  g  h  t   on the edge of tipping into full-blown anger, which is bound to happen as soon as they lose their first game this season, likely due to the inability to convert in short yardage or find a way to get the ball to their all-world wide receivers.

This should have happened 2 weeks ago in South Bend and it still could well happen before they play Michigan. And I am freaking HERE for it!

Stroud is currently tearing it up in the NFL.  They lost their most important and best (or 2nd best -MHJ is unreal) player and their offense is meh without an elite QB.

That Stroud guy was held in check by UM the past 2 years, and UM is probably even better on defense this year.

Unless they find a running game between now and November, The Game probably isn’t even close going into the 2nd half
