Glad Denard is sticking with the good guys.
January 15th, 2011 at 2:38 PM ^
Manti Te'o is still having nightmares about Patrick Omameh at 1:05.
January 15th, 2011 at 2:41 PM ^
during that clip, that get's me all pumped up! Way to stick'im Omameh!!
January 15th, 2011 at 2:39 PM ^
Glad Denard is still here. It's early, but the transition seems to be going smoothly in the old player retention department.
January 15th, 2011 at 2:43 PM ^
After watching that I almost feel like there are so many pro-style type plays that can eploit Denards abilities even more. So many play action type plays and roll outs would leave defenses so confused.
January 15th, 2011 at 3:14 PM ^
I'd like to see a more rollout run/pass options, and qb draws. Leaving him in the pocket, as shown by most of his INT's, is a misuse of his talents.
Give him 10-12 runs a game, keep his threat real and dangerous, but limit how often he gets whacked on 2-3 yard read/option plays.
I like our talent in the backfield other than Denard. Offensively, their misuse killed us this year.
January 15th, 2011 at 4:09 PM ^
I'm looking for some more Hopkins or Cox up the middle, with the option rollout. The RB sizes should force the opposing team to concentrate more linebackers in the middle and letting Denard sneak out into space on the outside.
January 15th, 2011 at 3:17 PM ^
Have to agree with you there, one thing I wondered last year was how dangerous he would have been if he was deployed with more play action rollouts. Not that he didn't have any of those opportunities last year but it seemed like he was either running the zone read, running designed QB runs or dropping straight back.
January 15th, 2011 at 2:47 PM ^
My favorite moment is probably when Millen went "...that's six"
January 15th, 2011 at 2:50 PM ^
Those aren't snare drums. They're his footsteps.
January 15th, 2011 at 2:52 PM ^
Great video. That run against Bowling Green was the dirtiest run he had all year.
January 15th, 2011 at 2:52 PM ^
Man, it's going to suck not seeing the zone read play action to slant route combination.
I miss the spread already *sob*
January 15th, 2011 at 2:53 PM ^
Can't wait for the hype up videos for next year
January 15th, 2011 at 2:53 PM ^
Man, I'm gonna miss that offense. Imagine what it could have done with upperclassmen. Usually, those videos get me pumped. That one was hard to watch though...
January 15th, 2011 at 3:05 PM ^
6:41....check it out.
January 15th, 2011 at 3:06 PM ^
He'll get better over the offseason. But I remain impressed with his throwing ability. Denard's running ability is not questioned. But holy crap the kid can sling it.
January 15th, 2011 at 3:13 PM ^
Yes and hopefully if he can come close to matching the improvement he made with his arm from his freshman to sophomore year this offseason, we are in for a treat next year.

Allways remember the good times. Good memories.
January 15th, 2011 at 3:09 PM ^
I think the spread formations will continue (see any SDSU films), but Michigan will be throwing a lot more out of them.
I don't think the pressure will be on Denard in 2011. The pressure will be on the UM offensive line to pass block a lot better than it has the last 3-4 years.
January 15th, 2011 at 3:11 PM ^
... and if they don't...then the pressure will indeed be on Denard...no?
January 15th, 2011 at 3:12 PM ^
@ 6:43 haha
January 15th, 2011 at 3:15 PM ^
other year. Those times that Denard broke, and got a step, it was my first reaction. The defender might not have known it at that second, but it was obvious he was just so screwed.
January 15th, 2011 at 3:20 PM ^
The first drive in the Notre Dame game! I was bustin' out.
January 15th, 2011 at 3:20 PM ^
great video, can't wait to see what happens this season!
January 15th, 2011 at 3:36 PM ^
I saw that punt against Notre Dame and I be all like, WHOA!

My new favorite youtube video.
One thing that did stick out while watching that video was seeing how many times Denard got us inside the redzone on one of his huge plays. The next highlight it shows is from the same game, but Michigan's score is the same and it is obviously a different drive later on in the game. Please get a damn kicker!!!
January 15th, 2011 at 3:28 PM ^
.....even in a new scheme, I think we're off to a better start than most may think right now. Very cool video!
January 15th, 2011 at 3:52 PM ^
Watching this video made me realize just how important for Denard to come back. I feel like he can do some pretty special things in next year's offense.
However, only one highlight against OSU is very telling.
January 15th, 2011 at 4:13 PM ^
Something that is being lost in that crappy bowl game was the improvement I saw in Denard's ball placement. Those two last throws in the highlight tape (esp. the touchdown to Odoms) were probably Denard's two best throws of the season. I know we are talking about a small sample size, but considering the improvement we saw in the offseason, it is very possible that an extra 15 practices improved Denard even further.
And that's the problem I have with people who think that Gardner is automatically a better passer. One, we don't know how Gardner will translate to the college game, and furthermore to a pro style. Yes, he has played well. But it was very limited and against poor competition. Two, there is little doubt in my mind that Denard will countinue to improve. He is a hard worker, and seems to absorb his coaching very well. You cannot disregard the jump he made from freshmen to soph. year, because it's extremely likely he is going to make another jump with his work ethic (just not as big of a jump).
January 15th, 2011 at 4:06 PM ^
1) i love denard
2) im still sad richrod left. i think that if he had stayed, the offense was going to hit its stride this year and become really unstoppable. lets hope hoke can use that talent effectively

January 15th, 2011 at 4:39 PM ^
Well it's a good thing we've got Dee Hart coming in this year!
...
The what now?
January 15th, 2011 at 4:40 PM ^
As others have mentioned, this isn't exactly a large sample size, and it was his first year starting, etc. Contrast that with Tolzien, a 5th year senior, and TP, a 2.5+ year starter from Wisconsin and OSU, respectively.
January 15th, 2011 at 4:21 PM ^
i never wanted it to end. thankfully for us, it doesn't have to
January 15th, 2011 at 4:30 PM ^
I don't care what offense we run next year, we have the tools to be amazing.
Pooch punt at 1:35 is an excellent addition to the video. Which makes me wonder if Denard can kick field goals???
January 15th, 2011 at 4:43 PM ^
I think the long run against ND was one of the best. He found that hole before the hole was even there. His feet are amazing and they really set up his burst out of a cut. The random Lloyd Brady shot..nice.
Hemi Jr's catch and run was awesome too.

Ross Evoy is an 8th grader at Clague Middle School in Ann Arbor. His phone number is1-734-660-2341. Ross enjoys playing football, basketball, and infuriating me
Ive read Mgoblog since December 2009, but Ross destroyed my old account by using it to post random spam such as "Hello, just wanted to say Hello."
so i use this account to flame Ross!
his sister Sam goes to U of M, btw
January 15th, 2011 at 4:51 PM ^
I can understand why Ross enjoys infuriating you. You're a fucking whackjob.

Apparently the word "Flamer" doesn't mean what it did when I was in 8th grade.

This cannot be said enough times...Denard is the MAN. After Mike Hart finished out his career, I remember thinking how no Michigan player would ever be as enjoyable to watch, for me, as he was...boy was I wrong.
The scary thing is, I think Denard's best days are yet to come.
January 15th, 2011 at 7:01 PM ^
Still amazes me how our guys started every game so strong, then faded...
January 15th, 2011 at 7:16 PM ^
I would really like to see some option out of the I formation and wishbone. I think Denard and pretty much any back we have would be lethal. Add in play action pass and some gardner...
This offense is still going to be a joy to watch.
January 15th, 2011 at 7:32 PM ^
God I love that guy. I had already forgotten how much fun he is to watch.
I love our WR's as well. Hemingway, Odoms, Roundtree, Stonum, Grady. Wow. I don't give a shit what offense we run, line all these guys up this fall and let er rip. Stop THIS, bitch!
Get a decent year out of any of the backs, and look out.
