“The NCAA has revealed its findings in the Michigan sign-stealing investigation to the Big Ten, and the conference continues to consider a multi-game suspension of coach Jim Harbaugh as the school gears up for legal action, sources tell Yahoo Sports.

The NCAA’s findings do not connect the in-person scouting and recording of opponents’ sidelines to Harbaugh, sources say, an absence of evidence essential to a potential lawsuit from the school and coach against the league.”

Who is Tony Petitti?  The search for the seventh Big Ten Conference commissioner was led by the Big Ten Council of Presidents and Chancellors’ Executive Search Committee. University of Maryland President Darryll J. Pines served as chair alongside University of Minnesota President Joan Gabel, The Ohio State University President Kristina M. Johnson, and Chair of the Council of Presidents and Chancellors and University of Illinois Chancellor Robert Jones.

So here is my 2 cents (for whatever it's worth)...

  • A lot of UM fans are posting "we aren't going to get punished!" Yay! That's likely not the case...BUT...
  • It is pretty big signal we are talking minor infraction at most. It does plant a flag that after all the info was shared so far, Harbaugh is not involved and from the sounds of it, likely no other coaches were.
  • It is detrimental against the BIG case to suspend Harbaugh, conversely it's HUGE for Michigan if they need to file an injunction.
  • To me, it seems like the NCAA putting a signal out there of where this is going to get people comfortable with the idea that this isn't going to go out with a bang like all our foes are wishing
