Deleted posts.

I've noticed the deletion of several posts recently. This one likely will be erased as well. It's my understanding that this blog is moderated and I'm unsure by whom. Some of the deleted posts seem to be deleted out of personal dislike and or counter opinion of the OP opinions. The deletion of anew inflammatory or offensive post is fully reasonable. Mods, I think some of you have overstepped your role and as a result created a blog where some can post and several others cannot, regardless of opinion or topic. That is wrong. Michigan is not yours to hog to yourself and ostracize other Michigan fans from a Michigan fan blog. There has been a lot of Mean Girling on here to put it mildly. Some of us simply come here to talk Michigan sports and are repeatedly turned away by those in the fold here. It's not cool honestly and not a positive representation of Michigan.

He built this site.

Michigan has a massive, loyal fan base and was underserved. Now Brian has a viable business.

But on football matters, dude is clueless. Insisted Rich Rod was god, that Brady Hoke would never be coach, and that Harbaugh would chase out all the other coaches in the NCAA. LOL.

Odds Harbaugh leaves before any other major Big Ten coach does is 100%.

I respect brian for creating a business but damn shame he and his apostles are such pussies.

Harbaugh hasn't done shit and the team is regressing. THOSE ARE FACTS. To delete posts that state this reality and ban those who speak the truth is exactly the opposite of what a real Michigan man would do.

If this site is a reflection of the Michigan fanbase, then Michigan fans are wimps.

You know that a football program built on child rape is beneath dirt.  So you can't enjoy even your lopsided victory last night.  You feel unclean somehow.  Rather than celebrate with your fellow enablers/rape apologists, the only way you can reconcile the darkness is to come here spewing arrogance and hate.

Cause that's what abusers do.

Literally none of this is true. And I mean literally as in the original meaning of it, not the hyperbole meaning of it.

Stop. Just quit it. You obviously don't have much of a clue as to what you're talking about. That part about the team regressing, and all that other mumbo-jumbo has no place here.

There are plenty of threads where you can share your inane thoughts without cluttering the board with another half-reasoned feelings post so you can get something off your chest.

Mods are very tolerant and every message board everywhere has rules.  OP may have started out making somewhat of a case, something that could be discussed at least... but it got lost in language like "hog Michigan to yourselves."  How does one do that exactly?

The mods keep this place from going down in pitchfork and (tiki) torch flames. They do it for free and it's a huge time commitment. So I have nothing but love for them. Plus, this site is owned and operated by someone who can run it any way he pleases. It's free and the content is outstanding. And free. I guess it's a testament to the staff that everyone feels such a sense of ownership and investment here they also feel like they should have a say in how it is run. That's a good thing, right?

Because most of the actual content comes from posters on here or sources connected to them. I don't see a ton of new information coming from those who actually run it. I usually see the info on here from someone and then a few days later that info is aggregated in a clever, well-written post from one of those who run it.

I would love to know the wealth of information you derive from threads around here. About the only ones that "break news" are commitment posts, which the site owners already know about and then, unsurprisingly, have substantive posts up shortly after. Unless I'm missing something in all the drinking and apparel threads.

I still don't quite get what you are arguing about.  You said "Because most of the actual content comes from posters on here or sources connected to them."

Yes, the site doesn't "break" news, because that isn't their business model.  At no point has that ever been something they've used as their calling card.  I just disagree with the notion that the board/posters here barely breaks meaningful news as well, unless you consider a bunch of deep-thread half-rumors as news making.  I assume there's a bunch of overlap between people here and the message boards at the pay sites, so maybe that's the confusion, since I assume they just copy-paste stories from there to here.  But I am simply arguing against your claim that the message board and posters here bring an immense amount of important, relevant info.

Of course, you also seem to be in a punchy mood, so maybe I just set you off.

The hell, dude. It is with some frequency I find opinions here that I don't like. I am sure I post opinions that other people don't like. They can downvote me. I can leave. It's pretty easy. Have you been to RCMB? That has to be in the Top 10 of the most cringe-worthy boards on the Internet. I don't wanna become that. People need to stop taking what goes on here so personally.

Some of the deleted posts seem to be deleted out of personal dislike and or counter opinion of the OP opinions.

Never has this been the case - there are people I don't particularly care for, and posters that probably think I am the biggest asshole here, but this has never been the reason for a thread disappearing. Dissenting threads are left up all the time, but the ridiculous amount of overlap last night created a situation where some selectivity wa required. Maybe I don't always make the best choice in this regard - shit happens and I can own such mistakes.

The primary reason is that there is a mechanism for blunting the force of the initial wave of feelingsball posts, hot takes and various other clutter, and while I know some people do not care for the Snowflake Threads, there is not really a more convenient way - in this particular interface - to catch at least some of the things that would turn into threads otherwise and thus make the board impossible to manage. I get that some people hate that sort of moderation but it makes life easier and the board a bit easier for the majority to read, I think.

As for my role, I have most of the available editing functions right on my screen, which is more or less a sign of how much authority I have been given. I just try to use it for good, that's all.

Maybe it's because no one wants to read 10+ vents and hot takes on the same exact thing. No matter how well thought out you think your hot take might be, it's no better than the previous 84 that had been posted. Trust me.

This. Don't mistake deleting threads for organization of content for deleting threads for the nature of its content.

The system has been around for a while handling this and posts often get deleted when someone's "totally unique" take on the situation.

Trust me, I'm mad about I-form play action on 4th and 11 too. We don't need a new thread for it.

This place is free. There is zero cost for the content, the moderated board, the pod casts, etc. Brian and his team have found sponsors and a business model that makes that work. We do, however, have to follow their rules. That is a small trade off for all the effort they put in and the quality of the content. It is, after all, their work.

You are missing the point. If Brian and the mods keep deleting “negative posts” then people will leave and he will have no sponsors. I don’t think anybody (OP included, although I was away and don’t know his history) that wants this blog to fail, but presenting both sides and letting people vote is the best way for Brian to continue to get clicks.

I would like to think that there is enough traffic to the site that threads calling for assistants/coaches/mods fired being removed wouldn't drive away substantial numbers of people. Also, people keep saying this site will suffer from lost traffic, and yet it's traffic seems pretty healthy to me. https://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/mgoblog.com What I've long expected is the commentors around here are a very small sample of the larger reading community. Dumb people like me who post a lot are characters here, but the core product, and what draws people in, is Brian and the staff and their analysis. And so I doubt the vast majority of readers even look at these boards, and if they do it's probably a "good Lord, look at these weirdos".

I don't want you to leave. I had a bad moment yesterday where I went off on someone. That was not generally me. I shut it down and came back today. May be take a few days off

Virtually every post that gets deleted is either an over-glorified snowflake threads or purposely inflammatory ones that just break down to arguments. This place is pretty evenly moderated compared to a lot of places, especially since the system doesn't allow the community to easily shut down trolls posts.
