DEDICATED TO ACE: #5 Purdue (15-2/4-0) @ MICHIGAN (14-3/3-1), 9pm ESPN

I thought it would be a good idea to dedicate tonight's game thread to Ace and his ongoing quest for good health. Hoping all the positive vibes generated in this thread will bring some good mojo Ace's way and that the rest of the comments, no matter how unfunny, negative, or just plain insane, will bring smiles to his face when tempered with the realization that after all, we're all participating because of our shared love for all things MICHIGAN. To your health, Ace!!! GO BLUE, Beat Purdue!!!

I don't know how people don't think that was conclusively off Matthews. Have any of you ever studied physics.  Mathias swiped down and the ball was going up on its way out of bounds.

The foul on Wagner was soft bullshit, but it was clearly Purdue ball. That is why you have to make them catch the ball going away from the basket and then foul them.  Can't foul once they are past half court with 4 seconds still left.

Because it is called the way it was called live literally 10,000 out of 10,000 times.  Which means that in the interest of being technically correct we are changing out basketball can be played in the last two minutes of halves.

The "Technically correct is the best kind of correct" meme is amusing for internet pedants, but it's also a completely shitty way to run a sport.  It's also why the catch rule is now a six paragraph monstrosity that no one can actually parse.

A lot of people on here spouting off some bullshit that the spirit of the rule.  The rule is simple as fuck, whoever touched the ball is the one it went out on and the other team gets the ball.

If you want to argue that they shouldn't overturn and make the correct call because they get the call wrong a lot I guess that is one way to argue.  In general I'm a fan of having as few ref mistakes as possible in a game and I would be apocalyptic if the call went the other way and cost Michigan a game because the refs didn't overturn a call they normally would get wrong. What a ridiculous argument.  Those plays don't get reviewed in the middle of the game because games already take too long, that doesn't mean you should continue to get it wrong when you do review it.
