am curious to see how these house divided things actually work.

I did meet the right girl though, so I guess it's ok.  Luckily she's a fake sports fan.  The problem is her family is full of real sports fans, and her brother is a dick, which has made the last 10 years hard to deal with.

wanted to hate fuck an OSU girl.

And I agree with the poster upthread.  If you grew up in, or have lived in, Michigan, it's impossible to not have fallen into a Sparty girl.

Went out with a Sparty girl before. Beautiful girl with these amazing hypnotic eyes. Didn't work out. She wanted to stay in Michigan near her family, and I, in my youth. was all about ambition.

I dated an App St grad and a Miami (NTM) grad (but HUGE OSU) fan back to back.  Finally settled on a UK grad, which was great until last year's Regional Final.

My wife is a buckeye. M has won once since we met. She has been fine because 1) she doesn't care about it that much, and 2) she is a genuinely nice person. Her family has been brutal. We always spend thanksgiving weekend in Columbus, so I've had to watch the game with a bunch of bucknuts. They are cruel and relentless. I don't want m to beat osu. I need m to beat osu.

the worst part.  What I'm getting now is so much worse.  They've graduated to patronizing me because we aren't good enough for them to feel threatened which is when they would give me shit.  It gets under my skin so much more.  Her fuckbag brother smiled at me when Denard got hurt against Nebraska, I wanted to spit in his face.

They expect to win, it's no big deal when they do now, so they just tilt their head to the side and treat me like we treated michigan state.

I hate it, I need it to end.

My problem now is getting Harbaugh scares me just as much as it excites me.  If he can't get it done, then who can, is it over?

High school sweetheart comes from a family of Buckeyes. Both of her parents went to OSU, her grandpa went to OSU, and her grandpa's dad went to OSU. To make matters worse, her dad works for OSU and the better part of her extended family live in Columbus. We go to her aunt's lake house a few fall saturdays out of the year, where I can count on getting a bunch of crap. The banter is usually playful, but it is hard not to call them out on their feaux fanhood. The fiance and I have come to an agreement that if we were to ever have children, the boys would be Wolverines and the girls will be Buckeyes (but I still wouldn't go down without a fight).

I have a friend from HS who went to State (we're from Maryland...weird right?) and then married a Wolverine. He goes on about how Sparty rules and Michigan sucks and a wolverine is just a giant weasel and so on. She smiles and rolls her eyes. Seems to work out.

Also, this doesn't quite rise to rival territory but I'm hoping it will in the coming years: My girlfriend is a Hopkins alumna and, thanks to her dad also being an alumnus, a lifelong Hopkins lacrosse obsessive. We went to the Hop-Michigan game a few weeks ago and I cheered for Michigan during the game, sang the fight song to myself after goals (while getting daggers from gf), etc., but I kept my clothes neutral. She told me on the way into the stadium that she would have been really mad if I'd worn any Michigan gear.

It's easy not to get too excited or gloat over lacrosse because at the moment Hopkins is in a different class. Once Michigan gets good, things may get a wee bit tense.

I've been married 22 years to a Buckeye fan, who really does follow the team and watch games. She's been to a couple of games in AA, but not recently. Her family annoys me, and she doesn't care for the Buckeye bashing around the holidays with my family. My teenage son, born here in Cleveland, fell hard the first time I took him to the Big House. He's been to the UTL games, and puts up with a lot of shit in school. It's never caused anything major other than a ton of eye rolling. Great wife, great life. We avoid each other a lot in the fall

- MSU: Too many to count. Unless they went to medical school (i.e., top 1% of MSU undergrad), they're dull, desperate (gold digging), provincial and wanna-look rich tacky trash. Perpetual sorority girls who slut around in Chicago for a few years before getting fat and having kids. They struggle to make non-Sparty friends.

- OSU: Slightly more sophisticated than MSU girls.

- ND: Always great families. Really, really sweet girls. Naive to a fault, but true...humanitarians (noblesse oblige?). I don't know why I'm supposed to hate this college, the girls that I've dated from here aren't super models, but from really remarkable families.

- Northwestern: Alpha girls. Pretty, polished & cosmopolitan. Won't let a relationship come between their ambition. Will straight break your heart and walk away to take a promotion across the country.

With regard to sports, only the MSU girls seemed to really care. Probably just an excuse to get wasted and wax nostalgic about their physical peak in life.

I dated a Sparty in high school/college. She was the grade below me, and she dumped me 3 days afer she got to east lansing because she had "other options" and wanted to skank it up. I didn't even make it through welcome week, I was bitter.

And no, this is not the girl I was having "relations" with when I yelled Go Blue! from the roll call thread.

Now I am currently dating a girl who got her masters at Notre Dame and is a fan, but not hard core. At least since ND is a good academic institution I can respect that. Also, it allows me to make jokes when shes giving me dome. I am very mature.

You still sound slightly bitter about the MSU girl. Is she still hot or something? Most Sparty girls look washed up at 23, as their faces and thighs load up on late-night carbs in Chicago.

Where'd the ND masters student go to college?

Back while at UofM, I dated a fellow Michigan student from Columbus. Her parents, iirc, were both grads of OSU. She was definitely not a huge sports fan, though, and her parents were always gracious. She ended up marrying another student from Michigan, so I suppose there's always a bit of rivalry in that household.

My wife is from the Cleveland area, and almost all her family is still there. A number of her family members went to OSU. There's a bit of ribbing every now and then. I took the rivalry for granted even during the Cooper years, when we were first married. However, as we all know too well, the last 10 years haven't been that kind to UofM fans. In fact, I could have gone to the 2010 game in Columbus, and was offered a ticket by my nephew, a student there at the time. Thankfully, I declined, and was spared the agony of seeing Michigan demolished 37 - 7. I really am looking forward to Michigan being competitive once again. I can live with Michigan losing some of the time. Even half the time. But it has been fairly brutal the last 14 years.

including one scholarship athlete are all osu grads. It is simple, just don't talk football with them and you are fine.

Note: I did openly cheer against said scholarship athlete when she was competing against Michigan.

Been married to a beautiful Buckeye girl for almost 20 years. Some of her family annoy the shit out of me. She's not bad at all, but I punish her for it anyway every Sunday night. Oh how I miss the John Cooper years!

I dated a Buckeye fan once. It was fine until football season started. I didn't learn of her OSU fandom until I was on my way to watch Michigan play Indiana. I got the tickets last minute from a friend and was taking my brother. I text her to say I was going to the game, and she text back "I'm hope you're cheering for the Hoosiers." I was confused until her next text saying she was a Buckeye fan. It was over after that.

I won't get into all of the details but I've certainly dated a few buckeyes/spartans. my favorite story that I will share is when I dated a hardcore buckeye fan/alum. In terms of how much it bothered the two of us it was me: 0%, her 100%. She talked about it all the time, I just smiled.

One time in bed during coitus I made sure to remind her who she was "with" to put it nicely. She literally got out of bed and walked out of the room. It was very entertaining to watch her continue to feign her displeasure. She was back moments later and we can laugh about it now, kinda. we're not dating anymore....

I think it's actually worse to be dating a girl who doesn't care about sports in the first place. My girlfriend went to a small private school that specializes in being nerdy and academic. She could not care less about sports. She's been molded into a Michigan fan and has a blank slate for that purpose, sure. But she'll always be pretending...

If my wife came home wearing MSU pants and a Buckeye sweater and wanted to get freaky I would send the kids to Dairy Queen and head for the bedroom. There are more important things than fandom. Keeping perspective is key in life.

I live in NY State and there are a lot of buckeyes here.  They've actually ended up being some of my better friends, because they hate the SEC, know their football and get that the Game, is the biggest game in sports.  There is actually a common value system every week but one.

I think the bigger issue is whether or not the person is an a-hole than what school he/she went to.  I've met some great MSU/OSU/ND people and some completely terrible UM people, and just because he/she will wear the same color jersey as me in the fall doesn't mean I'd want to be around them the rest of the year.

I will add that the whole "OSU/MSU" girls are hotter argument always seemed really weak to me - it always felt like people were thinking about the attractive people they knew in HS and then assuming that applied going forward, ignoring the fact that with a massive sample size you'll have a wide array of people.

Been dating a girl that went to App St. for 6 months, but I guess they're not a "rival" per se. Thankfully she's not a huge sports fan so it doesn't really get brought up.

Is an OSU "fan" from Ohio. I say "fan" because she could maybe name one player on the team but still takes immense joy in my misery after every M loss. Started dating her in 2008; coincidence? I think not. She may in fact be Satan - it is by far the most soul crushing relationship I've ever been in yet there is no escape in sight. In sum, I would not recommended this practice to anyone.

Girlfriend prior to my wife went to Ohio State when I met her. I would frequently go down and stay in her dorm on weekends. Acquired many of the parking tickets doing this. I paid with my UM checkbook and wrote GoBlue on the checks. By the end of our dating I had turned her to a Michigan fan and she left OSU for Kent State.
Probably the one I shouldn't have let go but alas I was young and stupid. Wouldn't have what I have now without my wife and kids!

Purdue girl, for 15 years now. Not really a rivalry so it's pretty ok. Though who knows if it will last, she likes to put her flag up on weekends....

As a general rule it seems like this would be a bad idea.  For example, I used to work with a guy who was a Michigan fan.  He met an MSU girl, became a Spart, and now trolls UM on facebook.  They have a dog named Izzo.  If that doesn't make you want to vomit, nothing will.

My wife went to Duke.

Fortunately for me, I met her in 1993.  This means that it was when our loss to them in the NC game was already in the past.  Instead, I got to start off the "rivalry" with 3 straight Michigan wins over Duke in '95, '96' and '97!

It was a nice buffer for future years after that when times got a little lean.

But on the whole, we actually have a pretty respectable record against Duke considering non-ACC teams have a terrible record against them.

Haha, it is so much fun to remember. There was a real competition between boys from my school and rival one: we had to hook up with as much enemies’ girls as possible. Every summer we got together and summed up the total. The winner got an annual beer supply and fame. If you have a similar competition I recommend to use dating services, for example, https://www.fatflirt.com/ ‘cause in my case big girls counted as a double score. So, good luck!

Quite interesting and cute story. You are a romantic person. Nowadays it is quite difficult to find good girlfriend, but online dating can really help with this. My dream is to find Russian girlfriend, so I usually chatting here https://datejasmin.com/girls/russian-female/ just check the photos and you will understand me!
