Dantonio made national news this morning

All over his infamous "dumbass" remark. Just shows how low MSU program has fallen.

I've never liked him. He has numerous verbalizations and behaviors that suggest a whiny, bitter, class-less individual who happens to be a decent coach. There are plenty of video-evidenced instances of sounding like a whiny little bitch, a snarky self indulgent punk, such as "where are all the wolverines?" comment after 'the punt' in Michigan Stadium, or his 'response' to Mike Hart, or his numerous asshole comments related to UM in his pressers. The list is long enough. He also has a long habit of looking the other way on serious issues with his personnel. I hope the chickens come home to roost. Can't stand him. The fact he kept beating UM during the darkest years didn't help my assessment of him, but he has now sunk back to what he is, a decent coach with a chip on his own shoulder, ultimately created by his own fuckery and misdeeds.

What i find amusing is how much the content drives the up/down voting for threads.  When somebody creates a post which accurately states "Michigan player X in transfer portal" with appropriate links, quotes and analysis it's downvotes galore.

This OP creates a post citing two day old news, with no links, no analysis and nothing referencing the "national news" he claims Dantonio made and nobody feels compelled to down vote it cause it's something bad about MSU/Dantonio.

We are certainly a predictable hive-mind, that's for sure.

Agreed, lots of folks with rose colored glasses as well. Harbaugh gets his share of little digs in about other programs and other coaches as well, but quite frankly if Jim could give us a Big 10 championship, a win against Ohio State, and a trip to the playoffs, he could act however he chooses.

It is a valid question, but it is also a cheap shot at the time it was asked.  Seriously, what is he going to say.  I should have fired them?  It is the elephant in the room, but in terms of time and place and how it was presented, it was a dumbass question.

That being said, I don't think it is going to get any better for Dantonio.  This is rarely the case for a longtime successful coach, but I think this may be the rare occasion where it may be a good idea for him to step down during the season.  A couple of reasons, 1) He is absolutely leaving after this year, golden parachute and everything, 2) MSU would likely get the "big change" boost where their perspective is changed and they are playing kind of unburdened for a while, 3) He would signify to the fan base that he knows he screwed up in the off-season to an extent that cannot be "undone" and may prevent the fan-base from becoming openly hostile to him, 4) They could essentially begin a coaching search now, 5) He could move a lot of the focus of the lawsuit away from the program, acutely.

That thing is burning down now.  At this point he may be burning through capital to even have a say in appointing a successor.

Media is just doing its job. He's more than welcome to give a brush off answer like most coaches do for most questions.

He knew going into this season that if the offense did not significantly improve, this would be brought up. This isn't even an out of left field question, which could bring out a flippant response. It's going to be a question the rest of the year.

He easily could have just left it at we still have games to play and the coaches are doing their best to improve things each week.,etc. He did not have to say it was a dumbass question. Adding that just makes him look a whiny immature bitch taking out his frustration on a reporter asking a valid question.

IMO he's not leaving in season and he's not leaving after the season.

Looking at their remaining games they will probably lose at home to PSU and lose to us but win the remainders and finish 7-5, same as last year.  Administration is not going to put ANY pressure on him to leave and he'll be back and will most likely make the assistant changes he should've made this year.

I'm starting to think we had a Lloyd Carr 2006 type situation on hand. I think Dantonio might have wanted to retire after this last season. But with the mess that the university and the athletic department are in right now, they asked him to stay at least one more year to give themselves some time. He reluctantly agreed out of loyalty to MSU and instead of making major changes for one or two more years, he just shuffled the coaching staff so he wouldn't be firing his buddies for just one more year.

Ego is why the time to leave is this year.

Remember that recruiting is going poorly there. If they can’t beat U-M this year, sticking around is likely only going to further erode his reputation as the guy who conquered Michigan. Conversely, if State wins, it’s a chance to go out on top, at least as far as the rivalry goes. Either way, this is the time.

I grew up in Lansing (Sexton graduate who escaped to A2) and can tell you based on the many spartan fans I am FB friends with, the natives are getting restless. The feeling is increasingly that Dantonio should have left if he wasn't going to make any real staff changes. Now it's morphing to "he needs to go now." It's funny, their expectations for the program shifted to the point where they expect to beat us and occasionally compete for the B1G title.

In the meantime, I have tempered my own expectations regarding UM while continuing to support the team. This way my weekends aren't completely ruined when we suck. In fact, I will point to a positive from last weekend:  once Illinois got within a score of taking the lead, our offense (with Shea at the helm) actually responded with a TD drive. Here's hoping they can build off of that because one thing this team has struggled with for years now is a fragile psyche. The tend to fold when things aren't going their way.

His record since 2015 - starting with 38-0 vs. Bama shows that even MSU fans have standards and Mork isn't meeting them.

MSU is not a great team but should not have been torched like that by anyone except Bama.

Narduzzi is obviously the best guy to come in and change the culture at MSU. He can use his "60 minutes of unnecessary roughness" line for a few years, but PSU and OSU will be the champs in the East, unless somehow we figure out how to develop our own Fields or McSorley.

Living in Michigan, I can tell you that since 2008, it has been awful being a UM fan with the 8-2 run Mork had vs. UM. If 8-4 or 9-3 is our destiny but 75% win percentage vs. MSU, that may be the ceiling.

Watched it last night and I agree.  A couple of observations.  For as good as Aaron Paul was in that role, he never rose to the level of anything but a supporting character.  What surprised me the most was that I found myself..... not really caring what happened to him.  Also, they had six years to consider the character and his epilogue, and a straight get-away movie was the best they could do?  Aside from "extremely traumatized," what insight did anybody get about the character.  Did he regret anything?  What is the rest of his life going to look like aside from "probably still pretty shitty." Also, the aging of the characters was impossible to ignore, Skinny Pete and Jesse Plemmons, specifically.

I absolutely loved Breaking Bad and have watched the entire series two or three times.  If that was the only movie they could make to follow it up they should just not have made it.  It did not detract from the show, that is a good thing.  But it came perilously close, IMO.  (It was saved, in large part, by one truly fantastic scene at the vacuum repair shop).

I watched it last night as well, but I came away with a different perspective.  Sure, it did not have to be made - that is kind of taken for granted.  And the lack of any other character development besides Jesse (and maybe Todd) made it seem a little superficial.

However, I thought it was very entertaining to watch.  The cinematography was outstanding, the Breaking Bad easter eggs were enjoyable, and the reinforcement of Jesse's character made the film worthwhile.  Specifically, noting his kind nature (letter to Brock, saving the beetle, etc.) contrasted with his gruff exterior (interactions with Ed Galbraith at Best Quality Vacuum) and the willingness to commit violent acts (shootings at Kandy Welding) reinforces the key plot development of the series, how the characters are "Breaking Bad".

Although Jesse ends up completely alone with absolutely no ties with anyone, there remains the question was it worth it? In the flashback scene of Jesse and Walter in the diner, Walter tells him "You're lucky, you know that?  You didn't have to wait your whole life to do something special."

As for the rest of Jesse's life, I think the flashback scenes with Walter in the Diner and Jane by the roadside spell it out.  "I was thinking about that thing you said about the universe... 'Go where the universe takes me'.  Right on.  I think its a cool philosophy".  "That was mainly metaphorical and a terrible philosophy. I've gone where the universe takes me my whole life.  It's better to make those decisions for yourself."
