Dantonio: I've Done Nothing Wrong and I'm Not Retiring
Dantonio just read a statement at the Breslin Center saying, of course, that he did nothing wrong, that he's a great guy, and that he runs a clean program. He then took a direct question, asking if he was retiring, and he said no.
Did not address any specific allegations in the ESPN story, of course.
Pride comes before the fall. Dantonio still thinks he's in the "pride" phase.

but apparently you didn't see it.
I'd have no problem confronting Harbaugh face-to-face about it. None at all.

My guess is he would get defensive and exit the encounter ASAP.

MODS should just delete this whole tangent. Guy's a troll

Why don't you? You know where he works and you live part time in Ann Arbor. I think I know why you don't.

If he did everything above board, he deserves to remain coach.
If not? Well....

Nobody can prove a negative, but an affirmative surely can. The reports need to be proven true, that will put paid to Dantonio's lies.

I hope he doesn't fire ME!
Oh wait Hollis just retired. . .

I mean...if you're the guys or gals that inherit this dumpster fire...are you keeping anyone who has been credibly accused of ignoring sex crimes? I don't give a damn if it were Gandhi, if you inherit a program in scandal, and Gandhi's employees had committed 16 rapes with little a penalty, he's the first person to go.

Hard to envision him being summarily dismissed, but you and the OP above make a lot of sense, and have me convinced.

or her the authority to clean house? MSU badly needs a well respected AD to come in now. They can't promote from within. Hiring a lightweight that does nothing of significance is a terrible option too.

One step closer to the full PSU.
Get ready for Izzo's crocodile-tears denial in a few hours.

This is pretty damn close to PSU and may surpass it when it all comes down.

This post beat me to it, but I posted something similar. Very, very bad move by Dantonio and MSU. His answer to the "are you retiring?" question with "absolutely not, I'm here for Spartan Nation" sounded way too much like the kind of institution-over-people thing that got them in this hot water to begin with. Maybe everyone at MSU should just shut up and listen for a while?
January 26th, 2018 at 8:01 PM ^
He's got to get with the lingo. It's not Spartan Nation, it's "Team MSU."

SPARTANS WILL.....let coaches and other related parties make ill-conceived statements on behalf of a massive public institution that dig a deeper and deeper hole until everyone is fired...
Or something like that...

I was wondering if I was too biased in thinking his statement was a bad idea. Then I read RCMB, where they were all saying "he nailed it" and "finally someone stood up for MSU" and "I'd run through a wall for that man." Then I knew for sure I was right and he had come off wrong, and would be gone sooner rather than later. He gone...
January 26th, 2018 at 8:07 PM ^
That's who he did the press conference for.
BTW - He gone. ESPN will make sure of it.
January 26th, 2018 at 8:11 PM ^
What I am waiting for is what will eventually come, whether it's from someone at MSU now, or someone that takes over after everyone of significance is gone. It will start something like...
"Massive mistakes were made, and a lot of lives were ruined. We all share blame in that, and those most to blame are now gone..."
January 26th, 2018 at 8:10 PM ^
You know, I thought MSU fans had pretty good reaction and response to the entire situation so far. But I was talking to my sister about it today, and I said that while I give them credit for reacting with outrage, it's pretty easy to throw fire at administration and non-revenue sports figures. It'll be interesting to see how they react when it's their heroes Dantonio and Izzo under fire. Suddenly, it's a witch hunt. Isn't that interesting how their moral outrage only extends to the point that it doesn't affect their football or basketball programs.
January 26th, 2018 at 8:18 PM ^
Izzo and Dantonio have to go...I doubt ESPN is getting this report that wrong. People don't think logically about things that they love, nobody loved Simon...but Izzo and Dantonio the fans will be irrational about.
With that said, I hope we never go through anything this bad at UofM, but if we ever do, let us react with moral clarity.

That situation was not handled properly by RichRod, Hoke, or UM. Period.
That being said, that ONE situation has been the crutch for every Spartan fan since. It's as though because that happened, every athelete at MSU can sexually assault every woman they want, and no one can say anything...because Gibbons. Because Gibbons...
