Corum is having knee surgery

Sources: #Michigan star RB Blake Corum is expected to have knee surgery and is out for the season. The Heisman candidate should make a full recovery. He tried to play last week vs. Ohio State but his knee made it impossible.

Agreed that it's worth waiting for a diagnosis, but he had an acute injury followed by obvious pain/limitation, and now a scheduled knee surgery.  That confluence of events is entirely consistent with an acute/structural injury. They would not be doing surgery for edema or scar tissue in this instance.

I mean, there are always different treatment options and I assume Corum and the staff wanted to see if he could go.  There's probably a world where he could just let the injury recover naturally but the timeline is longer and if he's shooting to go pro it would make more sense to get it over sooner rather than later surgically.  I know fans love to presume incompetence everywhere but its natural that there are multiple options and people are prone to pick the one that carries the shortest potential downtime initially.

It just seemed like the way that it initially happened on the field, there was something to that, and when they tried to use him at OSU and he didn't really look quite himself, I had a feeling that we might see a story like this at some point. Glad to see there's a plan and hopefully it is a expeditious (inasmuch as such injuries allow) and speedy recovery.

Feel terrible for him that he won’t be able to play in the post-season, but I’m wishing him a speedy recovery and the highest possible draft position. 2023 is coming at us fast - it’s the JJ and Donovan show now.

Theory: "out for season" really means the B1G season. He has almost two months to heal in time for 1/20/2023 if indeed it is something like scoping. We're just trying to throw people off. Yep, going with that. I feel better.

*Edit* 1/09/2023 (CFP championship, I had the wrong date)

Hate that for him.  Such a great year, sad to see it end this way.

Hopefully Morris and Schoon will be back.  Also be nice if Edwards could get the hard cast of his hand so maybe he can catch out of the backfield?

Does anyone know what is officially wrong with Edward's hand? We all saw the cast, but I don't recall anyone actually saying "he did X to his hand".

Did I just miss the announcement somewhere?

Damnit. Smart of him to get it fixed and (presumably) go make his living in the NFL.

I don't know whether to be unconcerned because our offense looked unstoppable even without him in the 2nd half on Saturday, or very concerned because our offense has looked very pedestrian the rest of the time he wasn't available.
