Charles Woodson the victim of Wikipedia vandalism

Submitted by bsand2053 on February 24th, 2022 at 9:57 AM

Hey y'all, I was just perusing wikipedia and the "List of Heisman Trophy Winners" article lists Peyton Manning as the winner of the 97 Heisman.  Some whiney ass Vol's fan must be sore that Tennessee hasn't been nationally relevant this century (although we all honor the Butch Jones' "Champions of Life" squad in 2016) and wants to rewrite history.

I don't like to ask people to do my work for me but I am completely hopeless when it comes to technology/internet and there appears to be some amount of formatting required re percentage of votes and points.  I took a look at the edit page and got very confused.  Can anyone help out?

Anyhow, if this was an inappropriate board post please downvote and shame me

People from the South change historical facts to make themselves feel better?

I haven't heard of such a thing since, *checks notes* their coverage of the Civil War.

Definitely a UT fan who also admires Professor Chaos.

"From now on I will dedicate my life to bringing chaos to the world that has rejected me! I will become the greatest supervillain the world has ever seen! Where I go, destruction will follow!  I shall start on Charles Woodson's Wikipedia page!"

Wikipedia is generally considered as accurate if not more accurate than the most recent encyclopedia editions. Plus for actual research purposes, it cites all their sources at the bottom of the page.

"I know Charles will congratulate Peyton on his achievement and send him some celebratory Woodson wine and whiskey."

This would be awesome!  I can feel the anger rising in Peyton upon receipt of said wine and whiskey!

They were really sore back in 1997.  They thought Peyton was the anointed one.

There is an AM radio station in Nashville that had sports talk in the evening when you could get the signal up north.  The callers talked about "seceding from the Heisman" and forming the "Peyton Manning Award".  Real bitter and thought they were screwed by northern elites.

On February 4, 2020 Dantonio announced he would be stepping down, in shame, as head
coach of the Michigan State football team as a result of recent recruiting violations exposed
by former staffer Curtis Blackwell.[

I thought I had a screenshot, but all i could find was the copied text...

Some hillbilly dude is very proud of himself and how smart he is as he sits in his mom’s basement and yells, “MA! THEM GRITS DUN YET?”

Hillbillies give grits a bad name.  Properly prepared, grits are freaking delicious and should be allowed to have their reputation unsullied by the unrefined hill-folk.

I had not realized there hadn't been a single Heisman winner at Alabama prior to Saban...

Bryce Young was the 4th Alabama player to win the Heisman.

The problem with hillbilly grits is that they mix in sugar. What self-respecting grit-eater puts sugar in the bowl? That's disgusting. Proper grits should be seasoned with butter, salt, and pepper. Maybe some hot sauce if you're really adventurous. I would also accept bacon bits.

But sugary grits? GTFO.

The Heisman site actually had this wrong maybe a decade ago. I emailed them and they fixed it almost immediately. If only we could erase Phil Fulmer so easily.

You mean the War of Northern Aggression?

May be us Michigan fans can change Wikipedia, that Michigan outright won the National Championship in '97. We were the best and number 1 season through the bowl games. The coaches gave their pal a share of the NC because he was retiring.

Pity there's no reply capability in 3.1, which makes keeping comments in context difficult.  That said, Peyton has acquired a reputation as being a loveable and funny guy, but I still remember his boorish behavior while at Tennessee, shoving his hairy package in the face of female trainers while they were working on him.  He's always struck me as an entitled guy who lives to be the center of attention.  Fuck him and Tennessee in general.
