CFP Tickets Secured Posbang!

Submitted by ska4punkkid on

I was just notified today that I was chosen to buy up to 4 College Football Playoff Championship Game tickets at face value. Spent $1,825 on 4 tickets and hoping to only sell 2 of them when our Wolverines make the Championship Game.

If we don't make it, I'm sure these babies will sell for $1,000 each and make the agony of defeat a little less harsh. Make it rain!!

EDIT: Alright let's do a neg-bang then!

I'm not rich, and not particularly responsible with money, but the way people live with their finances on the ragged edge would give me hives. I read a ridiculous stat a few months ago; something along the lines that like 60% of Americans couldn't scrape $1000 together in 24 hours if they tried. The thought of being that close to broke makes me sick.

I just heard this morning that 60% of homeowners have less than $60K debt on thier mortgage.    Personally, I find that so unlikely that I'd believe Rutgers would beat Michigan in a rematch next week if I had to pick between those two choices...

any resale or transfer restrictions?

wish i knew about it, i wouldve bought tickets on credit too.  even if i may not have been able to attend, its still the perfect short-term investment for sports fan - either rock out and go to the game or sell the tix for a pretty darn safe, handsome profit.  i used to try to get ticket books for the big east tourney every march with the same idea (knowing gtown, uconn, nova, etc fans always needed decent tix).  good for you

For all of you people out there that think OP has the ability to influence the outcome of the season, take note of the "hoping to only sell 2" followed up with "if we don't make it..."

Speaking of that, for those who are currently there, that plume that people suspected was in the groundwater was traced to a minor leak at that petrochemical facility outside town. While the water tested positive for dichloromethane and a few other things, they said that they were "reasonably sure" the concentrations pose no danger. Reasonably sure.

you have to wait 'til they open a new show somewhere.

the day of ticket sales being opened, you have to sit at the computer and try to get through.

it took me about 2 hours.

after tickets have gone on sale for more than a day or so, you have no chance: the scalpers have bought everything and prices quickly go to $1000 or more.

So, when tix went on sale in Chicago, I went online and got 4 for $400 after sitting at the computer for a long while.

Probably the best thing to do is watch the national tour:

and see when they release tix near you somewhere.

the whole thing is crazy.

that said, the album is a good proxy - honestly you get almost the entire thing in audio form.

My fiance and I are going to see them in Chicago in March. She was on an email list when they went on sale and basically bribed me to get off of the computer (was playing Civ 5 at the time) to get online and buy them. They were like sold out in like an hour or something, dont really remember.

It basically looks like you are paying a non-refundable fee for the right to purchase tickets at face value.  Its an interesting concept and one that could be worth exploring.  I have no concept for how expensive playoff tickets are going to be should we be so fortunate.

I have the money to buy tickets because I work. I can't go because I have to work. If I didn't work I could go but then I wouldn't have the money. You get your cake and you get to eat it.
