CFB: Six unbeatens - will any fall this weekend?

Submitted by Amazinblu on November 20th, 2023 at 8:46 AM

The final weekend of the regular season is upon us.  James Madison did not survive OT, and - as a result - six (6) teams now remain with an unblemished record.

As we all know, at least one team will fall this weekend.  Which team(s) so you think will fall from the ranks of the unbeaten?   Here’s the list – and their opponent.  The unbeatens are bolded with their AP ranking in parentheses.

  • Georgia (1) at Georgia Tech
  • Ohio State (2) at Michigan (3)
  • Michigan (3) hosting Ohio State (2)
  • Washington (4) hosting Washington State
  • Florida State (5) at Florida
  • Liberty (22) at UTEP

Enjoy.  Go Blue!

I am pulling for the scenario that forces the CFP to show their bias on full display and deviate from their "stated" priorities of valuing conference championships and Head-to-Head victories.

1. Michigan, Florida State and Washington all win out and are 13-0.

2. Texas wins the rematch vs Oklahoma (this requires OK St to lose to BYU this week)

3. Alabama wins vs Georgia to win the SEC

I want to see if the committee sticks to their word and puts Texas in over Alabama. Both will be 1 loss conference champions, with Texas eventually beating the team that beat them, and Texas having a head to head road win vs Alabama. It would be between the two things ESPN is most financially vested in (SEC Network and Longhorn Network owned by ESPN). Gut tells me they put Alabama in, but this isn't a small school they'd be leaving out in favor of a bigger SEC school. This would be Texas who again, went on the road and beat Alabama by double digits.

It is amazing, if you think about it.

If OSU loses, all the cheating talk will not really help our old pal Third Base; there will be a real clamoring for his head, despite his unreal record.

If OSU wins, the cheating talk will continue for years from our dear Buckeye pals, and they will (in their little buckeye brains) try to delete the past two years from their memories.

I don't remember the stakes being quite this high, and they've always been high!

Georgia, Michigan, Washington and FSU all win this week.  None of them lose until the 1st round of the CFP.

Ohio Slappy U gets a NY6 bowl game with anybody looking to be drafted sitting it out.
