He messed around and got a triple double. Only disappointing thing is that he only did it once tonight, but in any event, well done.

The only thing holding him back from being the 3rd member of a future Brooklyn Big 3 is his health. Dating back to his days at Crisler, we all knew how good he was when ever he was on the court.

He's had some atrocious injury luck over his career, but whenever he does play he can do it all: able shooter, good defensive frame and even some ball handling chops. It's been slow going this year for a Nets team pretty much in stasis until Kyrie and Durant return, but with them out it's going to give him room to shine and get back into rhythm after struggling with an injury earlier this season.

He'd be a great fit on any team. Strong 3 and D wing guys are the most in-demand role players in the NBA and he's already a very solid one right now. Throw in the fact that he's still has room to grow as a ball handler and he's the Nets most valuable non-KD asset. There's a reason that when push came to shove last year, they dropped Russell (who would be a bad fit with Kyrie) and resigned him.

If the Nets flop (which is still very possible) it's going to be one of the following reasons:

1. Injuries sap their 2 guys (Kyrie and KD) to the point where they drop a level. Achilles injuries (like KD has) are notorious for having career-altering effects, and Kyrie seems to have random shit wrong with him every season. Caris's injury history is iffy as well.

2. Off the court shit from either of those guys blows them up. The fact they're "mutually parting ways" with the coach that pulled them out of the doldrums of years of pick-less rebuilding terrifies me. Demonstrates that in the end, the team is going to ride or die off the mouths of Kyrie and KD, which is a roller coaster to say the least.

And their coach got fired. Jacque Vaughn takes over for the rest of the season. There is a name from the past for me watching college hoops growing up. I remember him at Kansas. 1993 final four team against NC as Michigan beat UK.

I don't watch the NBA unless the Pistons are in the playoffs (so I don't watch the NBA), but it is always exciting to have former Michigan players doing well.  The 89 team and the Fab Five filled this need for years, but Beilein's guys are starting to hit a tipping point.  Feeling pretty good about Howard bringing in more guys who'll win some championships and get into the league.

Man, Caris needs to get the fuck out of Brooklyn. They just fired their coach and rumor is the owner did so because players told him to. I’ll give you 3 guesses for who that probably was.  When KD and Kyrie are healthy next season, I hope they trade him for more of a 3 and D 3rd option.
