Camp Randall Trip Report

Submitted by MaizenBlue93 on October 4th, 2021 at 8:19 PM

Camp Randall was an awesome stadium. It's really cool the way it's positioned - there's the stadium and then Greek Life houses surrounding it. The actual stadium is really neatly set up too.

A few observations: 1) the student section didn't fill until until halftime, 2) the stadium was very quiet; its loudest point was the touchdown at the end of the first half and even then I don't think it got as loud as it gets on the average 3rd down at the Big House when it's a close game, 3) fans are overall pretty nice and welcoming

I sat right at the 50 and had a great time. There were a decent amount of Michigan fans in the area. Everyone was very nice until Michigan sealed the game. Some lady came up to me when she was leaving and said I was an asshole and the most classless Michigan fan she's ever seen because I was chanting "Let's Go Blue!" A few drunk college kids gave me the "fuck you" after the game too, but nothing bad at all.

When the game was over I caught the Michigan busses and got to meet with and take pics with Aiden Hutchinson, AJ Henning, JJ, and Erik All. It was a lot of fun.

Afterwards I will say - I'm a U-M alum and love Ann Arbor, but Michigan can't hold a candle to Wisconsin's campus. Wisconsin has a great post game party atmosphere, and it was a great way to celebrate the win. I wish Ann Arbor could be even 1/4 as fun as Madison is after the game. Some girl also got super handsy with me outside Qdoba and wanted to spend the day with me, but sadly her boyfriend was with her and caused a scene.

All in all I give the trip a 10/10 even though I didn't get to bring Qdoba girl back with me. Saturday was one of the best days of my life in recent memory.

Video should be coming up on Twitter any minute now. Expect the girl to hold a presser tomorrow expressing remorse for any pain or embarrassment this might have caused her boyfriend, team, or the American people.

My mom and I went and it was fun. Walking around the Capital building and then down State street Friday night got a few Go Blue and go home but mostly just ignored.

Saturday, walking past bars, people just having fun. People would say some stuff but you can't always hear so you just keep walking. One college student, with her eyes glassy, gave me the thumbs down and I just waved back. Got the totally original, Ann Arbor is a whore. I just said, "I know she is."  He didn't know how to respond. Walking back, bars full, some saying good luck the rest of the way, it's about time you won here. But mostly just ignored.

Aside from the lakefront area, Ann Arbor is every bit as nice as Madison and in many ways more intimate. (The state capitol area is very dull.) Ann Arbor is only less-than if you're looking at it through the lens of a drunk fratboy.

Seems like OP's priorities are a little specific. Personally, I don't prefer a town in which Saturday night require you to constantly dodge vomiting freshmen everywhere.

Dominics, Bills Beer Garden, Beer Grotto, Pretzel Bell, Ashleys, Brown Jug, Charley’s, Heidelberg, Old Town, Connor Oneills, hell even HopCat. It just sounds like you’ve never spent any time in AA lol. Saturday nights in AA after a big U-M home win have been some of my favorite nights in AA.

“Madison is better than AA!” *proceeds to eats at a chain restaurant in Madison*

Ucla was my worst away experience. I was 15 with my dad, we lost and I got a go backing to fucking Michigan from a college kid. Mind you he was 250. I'm with my 6'3 275 dad, 6'2 250 uncle and I was a 6'4 190lb teen but we just ignored him and drove back to our California home.

It seems this isn't an Ann Arbor vs Madison thing but more of the atmosphere after a game observation.

I've never been to Madison. I do remember from the 80s when Wisconsin had little to cheer about and they always brought a noisy contingent to the big house and really made their presence known in town after the game. All in an admirable way.

Madison is fun and I’ve been there several times… but “can’t hold a candle” to Ann Arbor? I have to disagree. And bragging about an over the pants HJ on Mgoblog is strange. Idk maybe I’m old school.

I’m from MI but live in Milwaukee. Wisconsin people are very fun in general.
