BS! Corum not a Heisman finalist!

The fact Stroud has been included 2 straight years now despite basically every semi-competent fan not being able to even fashion a colorable argument for him winning shows how archaic and biased the committee is toward QBs above all else.

The best player in college football is decidedly not one of the 4 QBs who'll be in NY for this award ceremony, and if we're being fair it's probably been a defensive lineman for a couple of years now (Hutchinson or Will Anderson last year, Jalen Carter or Will Anderson this year).  Corum got the Walker treatment this year in the sense that the voters immediately invalidated him because of injury/a poor game while ignoring the fact that guys like Stroud and Stetson Bennett also had bad games.  Bennett in particular getting this lifetime achievement nomination is crazy.

i was thinking chris weinke, just based on his age and general mediocrity, but i take your meaning.

the shutdown fullcast / edsbs gang have been shredding him for weeks, and it's hilarious.  "come on down to stetson bennett kia and we're gonna make you a deal fit for a champion!"

bennett has 20 touchdown passes.  20.  which puts him (checks stats) fifth.  in the fucking SEC.  worst finalist ever, and it's not close.

Big win for Dirty Bert.  Sent his hit man after Steve Breaston all those years ago, admitted retaliatory dirty blocks on linemen, etc

And that blubbering tub of shit still whines about refs fixing games

As much as the injury hurt his chances, in the minds of the voters, the fact that Donovan Edwards stepped in and ran roughshod over osu and Purdue was probably as big a factor b/c obviously anyone can just step in behind that OL and rack up the yards and scores.

Michael Barrett had already been informed that he won the Heisman again, but, just like every other year that he's been at Michigan, he turned it down so a less fortunate player who isn't Michael Barrett could actually win.

At least the Sparty's can stop bitching about the "Michigan bias" when Walker wasn't in it last year... wait, who am I kidding? they'll never shut up.

(Objectively, I thought both Walker and Corum should have been finalists in their respective years).

What a shitty, stupid field. Not even a little consideration for a lineman (Oluwatimi) or a defensive player who bends the whole game around him like Georgia's Jalen Carter or Illinois's Devon Witherspoon. Several of the guys they chose weren't even the best players on their teams. Would you want CJ Stroud or Marvin Harrison Jr?

And leaving off Blake Corum is some bullshit. Texas's Bijan Robinson too.

I have all of these guys over the four they picked. Duggan wasn't even a starter all year (they hold that against Corum but not Duggan?) but I hope he wins.

Hate to say it, but Edwards' success may well have hurt Corum, in that it reminded voters how dominant our line is and how much they had to do with both runners' success.

But ultimately, yes, not being able to play in the most important game(s) of the year was going to make it very difficult for Blake to make a claim to the trophy.

Disappointing, but not a surprise, given his injury before the two most important games of the season. The trend towards picking the most prominent QB from a team in contention for the playoffs continues.

Would he even be able to physically make the trip to New York? Other than that it's pretty much par for the course from the past couple of decades. If you aren't a QB and you have an off week you are out of the running.

Regardless of my homerism for Corum, 4 QB finalists is stupid. Sure QB's have a disproportionate impact on the game, but the Heisman is supposed to go to the most outstanding player (unlike the Griffin award that goes to the the most valuable player.)
