Cowards
November 17th, 2022 at 6:13 PM ^
The real cowards are the online bookmakers who cancelled bets on the over after the announcement.
I had an over bet made with the assumption it would move and Fanduel voided it.

It's almost like companies that run sports gambling are crooked and untrustworthy.
November 18th, 2022 at 6:31 AM ^
This is shitty news - these are the games I love to watch. Shitty, snowy, cold weather, outdoor football.
November 18th, 2022 at 3:08 PM ^

Gird thyself (and thine bones)
November 17th, 2022 at 5:35 PM ^
I don't ever want to live in a place that I have to hear FEET in the forecast.
Can't have one without the other
November 17th, 2022 at 5:36 PM ^
I think it would be hilarious to watch them play a game in 6 feet of snow.
November 17th, 2022 at 7:10 PM ^
Have you seen clips of the M-OSU snow bowl?
November 17th, 2022 at 7:29 PM ^
It could have been a game for the ages. Missed opportunity by moving the game.
November 17th, 2022 at 5:38 PM ^
Too bad. Snow games are the best.

NFL = No Fun League
November 17th, 2022 at 5:49 PM ^
My weather app is predicting rain/freezing rain/snow for Columbus next weekend. 😆 The thought of the angst this is causing buckeye fans is the kind of schadenfreude that I used to think I was above. Now, it just makes me smile.

Forecasts nine days out are a bit like reading ferret entrails.
November 17th, 2022 at 8:19 PM ^
If the ferret was disemboweled by a wolverine, I'd take that as a positive sign.
November 18th, 2022 at 7:39 AM ^
Before or after the ferret was drowned?
November 18th, 2022 at 12:44 AM ^
Funny, mine says 44 and partly cloudy. It’s almost like winter weather in the Midwest is fickle…
November 17th, 2022 at 5:52 PM ^
Lions will still find a way to lose this one
November 17th, 2022 at 5:55 PM ^
Ha ha. My thought was, “huh. Yet another game the lions won’t be winning.”
November 18th, 2022 at 8:54 AM ^
Funniest comment of the year
November 17th, 2022 at 5:53 PM ^
I was at that Vikings-Giants game at Ford Field, there were some issues at the Metrodome. We had this drunk guy in our section, rocking a Spielman jersey, he was very entertaining!😂
November 17th, 2022 at 5:54 PM ^
I might consider going to Ford field and watching a game finally.

[Insert lions = carnival joke here]
November 17th, 2022 at 10:00 PM ^
I thought the joke was the banners (upper right hand side of the photo)
The Lions have banners?!
November 18th, 2022 at 9:09 AM ^
Retired jerseys, more than likely.
Don't forget the 50s when we were good.
November 17th, 2022 at 5:55 PM ^
6 feet?
November 17th, 2022 at 7:25 PM ^
OP's number (all respect, Hotel Putingrad) is north of reality at least according to this source (1-2 feet):
November 17th, 2022 at 8:13 PM ^
Six feet over 2-3 days is not far out of line with what they've seen in the past (see here). Buffalo and some of the other places on Lake Erie can really get dumped on.
Like a complete idiot I drove through Erie PA during a snowstorm where they had five feet of snow over a couple of days (pictures here). Shortly after we crossed over into Pennsylvania my wife wanted to stop to to go the bathroom; I had to tell her that I wasn't sure we'd be able to get back on 90 if we did.
In that case, the snow stopped at about the time we reached the NY state line.
November 17th, 2022 at 9:21 PM ^
XM would feel right at home.
November 17th, 2022 at 10:30 PM ^
true story: one day it snowed 3 feet in the U.P. and i went to my office. i told the girls they didn't need to come in, but hey, what is a 1-ton 4x4 diesel crew cab good for if it's not going through a few feet of snow. worked fine. plowed when i got home. i have never been bothered by driving in snow.
i tell the kids when i was young this was spring training weather for baseball and a zamboni came out between innnings....
November 18th, 2022 at 10:02 AM ^
The few days that Tech canceled classes when I was a student, a few friends and I would drive an hour north to Bohemia for a pow day. It's harder to do now that I work from home, but I did take a half day last winter for the purpose as well. Almost anything is drivable as long as you take it slow enough.
That being said, I understand the difficulty of maintaining a massively overcrowded stadium in that kind of intense snow. Logistics and safety are different when you're dealing with more than a few thousand people.
November 17th, 2022 at 5:57 PM ^
"Apocalyptic"... it's called winter.
November 17th, 2022 at 6:27 PM ^
Sure. Uh huh...
November 17th, 2022 at 7:10 PM ^
Looks like some Nor'easters we get in New England.
November 17th, 2022 at 5:58 PM ^
When I die, I will ask that I have Lions players as pall bearers...that way they can let me down one last time.
November 17th, 2022 at 6:14 PM ^
Doncha worry about being fumbled?
November 17th, 2022 at 5:58 PM ^
I know you Lions fans appreciate some shitty NFL football. I'm confident my Browns won't let you down.
November 17th, 2022 at 6:58 PM ^
Actually it will be at the same time as the Lions game Sunday so it might not get much attention here. I’m expecting a lot of Browns fans to make the drive up for the game.
November 17th, 2022 at 5:59 PM ^
Well I have Nick Chubb in FF so this probably helps, but I'm going against Diggs so maybe it doesn't.
November 17th, 2022 at 6:00 PM ^
All the people who bet the under due to the snow forecast are screwed....
November 17th, 2022 at 6:03 PM ^
I’m a season ticket holder and do one Browns away a year so last week my wife and I “took our talents to south beach” to watch first hand the Clowns get drilled by the Dolphins. Had a great weekend up to and then after the game.
In a dome against our defense (the only team worse at defense than the Browns btw is the Lions) Josh Allen might throw for 600 yards. Bills are going to pulverize us, prolly something like 45 - 14, our only hope was that game would be played in that blizzard.
Oh, and the over/under opened at 44, went to 41 when the weather forecast was made and after they announced the venue change moved back to 48!
November 17th, 2022 at 6:03 PM ^
"Out of an abundance of caution" applied to a football game is a statement for sure
November 17th, 2022 at 7:55 PM ^
The B1G used that same wording in their August 2020 statement cancelling the upcoming football season.
Personally I have come to roll my eyes at the statement “out of an abundance of caution”, because it REALLY tends to be about $$$ or fear of a lawsuit (which is, again, $$$). But the phrase has entered our lexicon.
As for this game - if it weren’t for Thanksgiving the NFL would have played the game in Buffalo and just moved it to Monday or Tuesday. They had multiple Tuesday games in 2020 and 2021. But that’s not an option given the Bills Lions game. Moving this game is ultimately about $$$ too (even the bad Thanksgiving games get mega ratings and those advertising dollars cannot be missed).
November 17th, 2022 at 8:55 PM ^
They're robbing the fans of watching a game in a blizzard. Those are the best to watch.
November 17th, 2022 at 6:05 PM ^
Makes sense for Buffalo. They’ll camp out until the Thanksgiving Day game vs the Loins.
November 17th, 2022 at 6:16 PM ^
"SEE! YOU SHOULD MOVE THE GAME WHEN IT SNOWS!!"
(the OSU AD just knocked over his Big Gulp and threw his computer mouse at the dry-erase board at the other end of the room)
November 17th, 2022 at 11:00 PM ^
What are the relevant NCAA and B1G regs? If 1950 happens again next week could OSU move or postpone the game? Could the conference?
