Not really, but thank you for playing.

Georgia gets #13 Ole Miss at home, #17 Tennessee on the road, and then an SEC Championship tune-up in Georgia Tech.

Michigan is on the road at Penn State, who as long as they don't get blown out will almost certainly still be top-10 and a CFP contender regardless of what happens this weekend, and then a top-5 matchup at home with OSU. Sandwiched in between that is a game on the road against a talented and what might be very desperate Maryland team.

One of these schedules is not at all like the other. The only "leg up" Georgia can have on Michigan's schedule at that point in the year is in a conference championship game. A matchup against Alabama would be more daunting than whoever the West spits out. But no, the end of our regular seasons are not even remotely comparable.

So probably out until the SEC Championship game.

Georgia can probably go cruise control without him in most of its remaining games, but they have back-to-back potential landmines towards the end of the season, at home against Ole Miss and on the road at Tennessee. If he's not back for one or both of those, and Georgia sleepwalks through either of those games, then those are games that Georgia could lose.

And then if he's still not ready for the SEC Championship game, then that's problematic in a much bigger way. As Georgia has seen before just two years ago, the last guy who I want to be staring down the barrel at when his team's playoff hopes are on the line is Nick effing Saban.

If Georgia misses the CFP, then yeah he'll sit out. But if Georgia makes the CFP, I have a hard time believing he would not want to stick around and go for a three-peat. Without him, Georgia's chances of three-peating plummet. He may very well be the difference for them. I doubt that's something he wants attached to his legacy.

He also does not want to be the first player on a team that makes the CFP who sits out by choice

I thought for him it was a situation of he could return, but he would still not be 100% or near it, so in that situation bringing him back would've (at least for JSN) done more harm than good. Maybe I'm misremembering, though.

I will contend that if Bowers is at or near 100% and Georgia makes the CFP, he'll be suiting up for it.

It looks like Bowers is the third Georgia player to undergo this procedure this season.  And, in other cases - the players were out four+ weeks.

Bowers accounts for about 24% of Georgia's passing yardage - 21% of the receptions.   He's the leading receiver in terms of both receptions and yardage for the Bulldogs.

Out of all the players who enter the draft, Bowers looks like the player who will have the most successful NFL career.  He already looks like a TE1 in the NFL, and he's still playing college ball.  As long as Bowers avoids injuries while he is in the NFL, I expect Bowers to someday make the NFL HoF.  He's that talented.

Brock, sit out and rehab to get ready for the draft.  You have MILLIONS coming your way as a top 10-15 pick.  Look at TE's you will be compared to:

Travis Kelce.  In every commercial it seems.  Might be dating someone???

Gronk.  Does all right in retirement.  SI Swimsuit model too.

Starting to look like both UGA and Bama can make the playoff - assuming Bama wins SEC championship against undefeated UGA.

Going to be tough to get 2 SEC teams and 2 B1G teams into the playoff.  Root hard against Bama every game!

What???

Every pundit has been saying the complete opposite.

UGA has already had several close calls in the 4th. Bama's looked like garbage without an elite QB.

Meanwhile both Texas/OU and UW/Oregon played barnburner showcase games, and looked great doing it.

Everyone is saying this is the down year for the SEC. This is the year that we have 4 representatives from 4 conferences.

Football in college and in the NFL is a war of attrition—teams that win national championships or the Super Bowl are normally relatively free of serious injury to key players. In 1997 the only starter we lost for the season was former walk-on LB and co-captain Eric Mayes, who suffered an ACL tear in the fourth game against IU. If we'd lost Woodson or Steele or Hutchinson to a similar injury, it's much harder to envision Michigan going undefeated.

You are so right.  It's not who you start the season with, it's who remains at the end.  I do believe the UM coaching staff understands this, and the depth that is being built will result in a longer term sustainable competitiveness.  But there is still no way to truly replace a special player like a Woodson or a Bowers.

Another thing to look for is - "When and how is this (Michigan team) fighting for the extra yard?"

Look at this Michigan roster - and, how they play.  When do they "really fight" for the extra yard - and, when do they "take" what's given to them and avoid contact?   IMO, it's most evident with Corum and JJ.   If they're running - and, along the sideline - and, they have picked up the first down - what do they do?   They advance as far as they can - and - step out on the sideline - avoiding contact after making the gain.   IMO, it's very smart football.

Dr. Eric Mayes holds a post-doctorate master’s degree in Education Policy and Management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Howard University, and both a master’s degree in Educational Technology and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. A former college athlete, Dr. Mayes advanced from a walk-on to Co-Captain of the 1997 University of Michigan National Championship Football Team.

Shut it down and go get your bread. He's staring down a top 10-15 pick. Can you imagine what happens if he came back and ruptured it trying to compete? Oh wait, we literally watched that happen with Butt.

Oh man wait till the good folks over at RCMB find out we're creating Georgia injury threads during hate week.

Their tiny little sparty heads will collectively explode.

Georgia's remaining schedule is - with the current ranking of their opponents.

October 21st - Bye

October 28 - vs Florida in Jacksonville

November 5 - hosting Missouri (20)

November 12 - hosting Ole Miss (13)

November 19 - at Tennessee (17)

November 26 - at Georgia Tech

I certainly tend to agree with you.  And, can quickly take them one at a time - Georgia Tech, no chance - period.

Florida - depends on what shows up - weather - turnovers - etc.  But, a Gator win is unlikely, as would be a Missouri win in Athens.

I'm not so sure about Ole Miss - and, whether Kiffin can dial up an offense to be effective against them in Athens.  Again - possible - and, that's assuming Ole Miss can play something called defense.

Tennessee has been the game on the calendar all year long - and, it is in Knoxville.  The Vols have a chance.

Hoping for an easy recovery. Looking forward to watching this dude in the league for years to come. He's a monster with a skillset that doesn't come around too often.

Whoa.

High ankle sprains take forever to heal, especially ones that require surgery.

GA's remaining schedule is easier than Michigan's.  If someone can give GA trouble, UM is gonna grab that AP #1 ranking.

For those of you who think rankings dont matter, two weeks from now when the CFP creates their rankings, one of the things everyone in that room will look at are the current AP/Coaches rankings.  Rankings matter.
