Braylon Edwards tweets apology to Ruiz and Patterson, But...
September 3rd, 2018 at 8:56 PM ^
1-3 against OSU, 1-2 against ND.
And you got Bobby Williams and John L Smith for MSU. Shove it.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:03 PM ^
13 losses during his career. Not exactly stellar.
1-3 in bowl games.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:40 PM ^
Are you guys really defending Michigan by attacking Michigan?
September 3rd, 2018 at 11:06 PM ^
What are your career stats as a Michigan football player?
Braylon screwed up here. But he played at Michigan, which is a lot more than can be said for the people lining up to throw him under the bus with more force than the preceding poster.
September 3rd, 2018 at 11:42 PM ^
The "what are your career stats" at Michigan argument is the bad logic equivalent to dismissing a sabermetrics book based on the author's lack of home runs. Or thinking Michael Jordan was an awesome NBA GM.
September 4th, 2018 at 7:16 AM ^
Braylon's whole claim to credibility when he throws shade Michigan's way is rooted in Michigan's performance during his playing days, so evaluating them with the lens of historical context is more than fair. Braylon is symptomatic of late-Carr era Michigan teams that were talented but frequently underperformed, all while exhibiting a level of entitlement and swagger that isn't justified by their record. The harsh truth is that Michigan's slide didn't start in 2008, it started in 2001, where we saw the football team still put up respectable win totals, but frequently found themselves overmatched against elite-level competition (OSU, USC, Texas, etc...); a slow slide that reached a nadir with the App State / Oregon disaster, which lead to the utter collapse under Rodriguez / Hoke.
So when Braylon wants to go on Twitter with some ridiculous "UNACCEPTABLE" rant while absolving himself of any accountability for us being in this position today just because he set a couple of personal records during his playing days; is myopic and disingenuous.
So yeah, Braylon can go fuck himself.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:23 PM ^
I think most of us can agree that Braylon should probably close down his Twitter account and STFU. However, as a player, he holds most of the WR records at Michigan while being a star player on the last outright B10 Championship team. Knocking him as a player probably isn’t called for.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:40 PM ^
isnt that exactly what he did?
September 4th, 2018 at 8:35 AM ^
The only reason Braylon broke all those records was because he was a good not a great receiver. Had he elite level talent, he would've been lured away to the pros early like most other elite level players. That 4-year players like Braylon and Mike Hart hold these career records at Michigan belies the fact that talent-wise, they weren't top notch.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:25 PM ^
Also Big Ten MVP & Offensive player of the year, 2-time All Big Ten, Biletnikoff award winner, unanimous All-American. At or near the top of many of Michigan's receiving record books. Has 2 Big Ten championships...yeah what did he ever do at Michigan.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:32 PM ^
Wow. That makes me feel so much better about all those losses.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:35 PM ^
Yeah he's the sole reason for those losses too.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:36 PM ^
Okay fine. Then let's see him criticize Lloyd Carr and the impact he's had on this program.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:38 PM ^
Blame everyone but the head man for your problems. Whatever makes you feel better.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:40 PM ^
That's not what I said at all.
September 4th, 2018 at 8:38 AM ^
So win enough individual accolades and that absolves your from any accountability to the team underperforming? Got it.
I've never seen the underlying problem of late-Carr era Michigan football summarized so succinctly.
September 3rd, 2018 at 11:21 PM ^
there's such a thing as tact.
I appreciate Braylon and what he did... doesn't give him the right to do a drive by on a couple of college kids...
and be a man and apologize properly.
he has the right to criticize the program and the head coach, but like Gary said, a grown man calling out a couple of college kids?!
just a bad, bad look on Braylon
September 4th, 2018 at 10:37 AM ^
We’d kill to beat OSU once every four years these days... not sure that stat says much about Braylon
September 3rd, 2018 at 8:59 PM ^
Damn, what an asshole. What a shit excuse for an apology. Delete your Twitter. Better yet, reach out to the guys personally and give them an actual apology. Then delete your account.
Fuck him. And fuck Twitter too.
September 3rd, 2018 at 8:59 PM ^
All outrage, all the time.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:01 PM ^
Best Wolverine playmaker of the 2000s decade without a doubt.
Couldnt hold onto a pass in the NFL leading him to be a bust, and was recently fired from 97.1 and now suspended from BTN. A terrific player, but now he’s just an alcoholic NFL-washout. It’s too bad, because he was one hell of a college football player
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:28 PM ^
He was in the NFL for 9 or 10 years and was an All Pro and a Pro Bowler. How was he a bust exactly?
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:37 PM ^
Hi Braylon. He’s a big boy. No need to defend every negative comment. He is receiving his due. Points being made aren’t arguable. Bust may be overstating it but you cannot lay out all of his NCAA accolades then lay his NFL stats next to that and say he achieved adequately.
September 3rd, 2018 at 10:05 PM ^
Hi Braylon is about the most unintelligent response you could have made. 9 years playing at the highest level you can play at is not a bust.
September 3rd, 2018 at 10:01 PM ^
I thought he would be a hofer but he had a short peak.
Still he broke records for receiving yards and TDs at Cleveland. Who knows what kinda career he would've had if he was drafted by a team with a decent QB
September 3rd, 2018 at 10:08 PM ^
Going to Cleveland is basically like going to Detroit. Cleveland looks like they might have a good, young nucleus though. Hopefully it works out for them.
September 4th, 2018 at 9:02 AM ^
Bust is too strong of a word, but Braylon really only had 3 productive seasons in the NFL. Sure, he managed to bounce around a few teams a trade fodder later in his career, but they won't be carving his HoF bust anytime in the future.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:30 PM ^
Didn't Jeremy Gallon top his stats? I'd take Denard over him as a pure playmaker too. Denard was electric.
September 3rd, 2018 at 10:07 PM ^
Jeremy Gallon was no where near the level that Braylon was in college. Denard was a QB/RB.
September 4th, 2018 at 7:30 PM ^
Jeremy Gallon holds the big ten record for most yards in a single game. He is second all time in receiving yards in a game all of FBS football. He holds the school record for most receiving yards in a season. Jeremy Gallon averaged 15.6 ypc during his career and 15.4 his senior year. Braylon? 13.7 his senior year and 14.1 for his career. Gallon has more yards after catch as well. Gallon had 9 touchdowns his senior season to Braylon's 15. Don't let the facts cloud your wrong opinion though.
September 4th, 2018 at 12:20 AM ^
Jeremy Gallon holds the single-season and single-game receiving yards records for Michigan.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:04 PM ^
The criticisms that Braylon Edwards leveled at Ruiz and Patterson could have been made at Braylon when he was their age. He sure as hell dropped a lot of passes back in the day, and was himself criticized for it in the press. It wasn't right then, and it isn't right now.
I think Braylon Edwards should take his own advise and step up his own game, both as an alum as well as a person.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:42 PM ^
Exactly.
The probability of Edwards catching a pass rose in concert with the difficulty of the catch. Easy passes were frustratingly dropped while circus catches became nearly automatic.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:04 PM ^
What a narcissistic prick. Does he seriously think he is the only one that gets pissed when we lose a game? Everyone is pissed right now, but you dont jump on twitter and berate players and give a half assed apology.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:04 PM ^
Nobody asked him to apologize for saying the program is mediocre right now. Only for calling out specific players. So not sure why he even had to add that last part other than his own ego
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:05 PM ^
He's not wrong. Harbaugh needs to win out.
The shit show we saw on Saturday, is not worth the $8 million we're paying our head coach...in YEAR FUCKING FOUR! Dr. Blitz' defense looked like shit too. I feel bad for Winovich and Bush.
If not for the kick return and the garbage time td, we got smoked.
That was embarrassing.
September 3rd, 2018 at 11:22 PM ^
When has a Braylon team ever "won out". 1-3 vs OSU, he has little room to talk
September 4th, 2018 at 8:50 AM ^
2003.
But, hey, whatever.
September 4th, 2018 at 12:21 PM ^
Ahhh, lets take a look at this shall we, Michigan finished 10-3 iwth a 4 point road loss to Oregon when we were #3 in the country, and a road loss to Iowa and then a 14 point loss to usc in the rose bowl to end the year. Ended up ranked #6. It was actually one of the more frustrating seasons even though we won the Big10. Its not like we went 12-1 or something, He still was 1-3 vs OSU, he can keep his mouth shut thank you
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:05 PM ^
Nothing good comes from Twitter. Many people are leaving it.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:17 PM ^
Seriously. I know it's not exactly fair, or even possible, but there should be an age limit on that shit. Like, after age 25 you're barred from using it. It's mostly just a toxic hell hole and a medium to talk shit to celebs, athletes, and politicians you dont like. Its pointless and causes more harm than good.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:08 PM ^
Would love to hear MarcusRay97's opinion on Braylon's actions.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:08 PM ^
Did you guys hear that sound? That was the sound of Braylon dropping another easy pass.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:10 PM ^
Heavy sigh, rubbing forehead . . . How can a Michigan man act so much not like a Michigan Man?
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:17 PM ^
Every member of the football team is no doubt trying their best. Sometimes that isn’t up to the standards but that doesn’t mean asshats like Braylon should ever be allowed to attack them
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:18 PM ^
Undiagnosed bipolar self medicating with alcohol.
It's not going to end well for ole #1
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:21 PM ^
Rabble rabble rabble
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:26 PM ^
Not cool.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:28 PM ^
Braylon made plays when it counted. Who was the last player to do that? Henne couldn’t beat OSU, Denard was comically miscast as a QB. He’s heartsick and I don’t fault him for saying it: Michigan is an irrelevant, middling college football team. It hurts to finally have to accept that, but it’s true. The era from 1969-1997 is closed. Not going to return.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:37 PM ^
Braylon was 1-3 against OSU and 1-2 against Notre Dame. He had one great game against a decent Michigan State team that had a terrible coach. Denard made big plays against Notre Dame or do they not count in your narrative?
