I think snippets of this were posted before.

What an asshole.  "These games don't mean much".  Yeah, f*** you buddy.

"We were perfectly healthy and sat for 10 days in the middle of the season,”"

Ohh, poor wittle baby, team had to not play for a few days because there's a GOD DAMN PANDEMIC going on and people were trying not to GET YOU SICK.

Anyone who would send their kid to go play for this douchebag should have their head examined.

He needs to get those comments in now, because he would be a horse's ass making them after we destroy his team Tuesday night.

And--of course--if he doesn't believe that the pursuit of a B1G basketball title is worthy he is invited to choose another line of work or job.

EDIT: Now, if he went after Tom Izzo for letting one of his players crush Ayo Dosunmu, then I'd be all ears. Apparently he doesn't have the stones for that.

He comes off sounding extraordinarily whiny with not only what he said, but how he needed to reiterate it multiple times. Make those comments in the locker room if you want, but you are giving your guys the wrong “life lesson” when you say a conference title doesn’t mean anything.

You hit the nail on the head, bluewave720.  It seems the "life lesson" Underwood wants to teach here is whining.  I try to understand things from the other people's perspectives but it's truly hard to  understand what he's whining about.

"No B1G championship means much”

This has to be a cousin to the double negative. Honestly I didnt get much out of his statement. Maybe we shouldve played them when originally scheduled? If i was him I would be more upset about the common garden slug that took his guy out.

I for one, would like to thank coach Underwood for his ridiculous comments the week before squaring off against us.

Love when people take a swipe at someone else while in the same breath saying "I'm bigger than that." If you were actually bigger than that, you wouldn't have to say it and wouldn't be taking a passive aggressive swipe at Michigan.

Exactly....certainly had a lot to say repeatedly for someone claiming to be "bigger than that".  If anything, NOT playing Michigan at the pace they were going prior to the COVID break was a benefit to all of the teams on the list...if anything it slowed down their progress and did not give the team any benefit.

Brad Underwood looks and sounds like a miserable person to play for.  Particularly compared to Juwan.  Let this game be a coaching version of this:

And btw, I didn't know Illinois even had any fans, of any of their sports -- driven through that state countless times but never saw so much as a Illini bumper sticker -- but judging by the tweets they are equally miserable and whiny.

I would suggest trying to beat teams like Rutgers, Maryland, and Michigan State instead of losing to them ... then you wouldn't have to worry about what other teams were doing.

I likely won't do it because it'd be opening up a cesspool on my phone, but after we win Tuesday I am so incredibly tempted to get a Twitter account just so I can brutally trash talk every Illini fan I can find as revenge for the incessant grievance train they've been running the last three weeks.

The thing that really chafes me is that he could easily have just said "We're really disappointed that the effects of COVID have made it tough for us to compete for the Big Ten Title on a level playing field"  and no one would fault him for it.   But apparently his desire to be a sanctimonious jerk was too great.

the funny thing here is that Illinois actually gains an advantage by playing more games than Michigan.  The teams Michigan is skipping would lower Michigan's strength of schedule, meaning Michigan would be, if anything, more likely to win an outright regular season conference title if we got to play all our games.

Illinois was always in control of their own destiny.  If they wanted to win the conference they shouldn't have lost some of the games they lost.  It's that simple, and this just smacks of Underwood having problems accepting responsibility for his & his teams shortcomings.

Right. The Big Ten schedule is already "unfair" in that everyone plays completely different schedules.  It's been like that since they dropped the double-round-robin.

COVID has made the disparity greater just in the fact that teams have played different numbers of games, but the same inequality in scheduling existed pre-COVID.

You’re giving him too much credit. He’s cherry-picking here. I think he’s trying to say that Michigan missed the 3 games against cupcakes - fine. But the Illinois game should not have been missed bc the COVID break had ended by then. He’s focusing solely on that portion to serve his interests ... I think?   Who cares - let’s crush them by 20 tmr.

I have never actively disliked Illinois basketball. We have had our share of success against them and vice versa but Brad Underwood is giving me all the incentive I need to despise his program and anything he is associated with, including his bad dye job. As others have mention, If we played those 3 cupcakes rather than eliminating them from our schedule we would already be Big Ten champs. That remains true even if we played Illinois a few weeks ago and lost. I can not see what he is getting at.

Look, if Illinois wants to throw a fit about us rescheduling our game with them, we'll just forfeit it as long as we get to make up our games vs Northwestern, Penn State, and Indiana. Ok, now we won the Big Ten by an even wider margin. Happy now Brad? This sounds a bit like Dabo whining about OSU only playing 6 games. Careful you don't run your mouth too much...

He's sour because he knows this is one of the best teams he is ever going to have, and yet he also knows that his team is second fiddle in the B1G.

I'll let him have his moment as he processes it all.
