The interceptions are one thing, also don’t care for the wide open miss that should’ve been a loftier throw rather than a drive. Have we seen a successful downfield pass with some air under it yet this year?
September 16th, 2023 at 11:24 PM ^
No. JJ can't throw the deep loft over the shoulder. I don't know if I've ever seen him hit a go route right over the shoulder into the bread basket in stride. He's thrown to some really open guys like that, but never in stride. He's phenomenal at the post, crossing routes, and outs where he can laser it. I think 2 of the interceptions and the big missed play were the type where they needed to have some loft.
September 17th, 2023 at 12:24 AM ^
He hit one during the Wisconsin game his freshman year. Beautiful pass in junk time. But, yeah, not many.
September 17th, 2023 at 3:01 PM ^
Not yet, only laser shots down the field. Need to figure out how to put some air under it like the second and third TD against OSU last year
September 16th, 2023 at 10:54 PM ^
The offense has been terrible all year. There's so much blame to go around. Honestly, I put this on Harbaugh for getting himself suspended and then trying to be an arrogant clever fuck and naming four interim head coaches. This team needs continuity. JJ showed his immaturity by laughing on the sidelines after throwing three interceptions. Sherrone Moore should never be a full time head coach. The offense line has regressed substantially. This doesn't look like a top 2 team. This doesn't even look like a top 10 team.
September 16th, 2023 at 10:57 PM ^
I didn't see JJ laughing after 3 interceptions. He actually looked pissed to me. Blake was laughing trying to cheer him up he was so upset.
September 16th, 2023 at 10:59 PM ^
It wasn't immediately after. He was laughing a couple plays later
September 16th, 2023 at 11:25 PM ^
Yeah how dare he laugh a minute or two later. He should never experience joy again!
September 16th, 2023 at 11:36 PM ^
No shit. God forbid a QB puts his past mistakes behind him. Does this clown really want a sullen qb leading his team?
September 17th, 2023 at 2:51 AM ^
FlaWolverine, you suck and are a horrible person
September 16th, 2023 at 11:00 PM ^
Agreed. JJ knows he didn’t have his best game. Glad it happened against BGSU.
He will learn to deal with having 3rd and 6. This defense is elite. Roman is going to have a shield by the end of the year. Manage the game, and play within yourself.
September 16th, 2023 at 11:06 PM ^
Worst kind of fan. Enjoy the win and stop fucking whining.
September 16th, 2023 at 11:14 PM ^
Enjoy that shit show against bowling green? No!
You must not remember the Army game and then what happened the week after.
September 16th, 2023 at 11:30 PM ^
There you have it. The reincarnation of "Michigan Realist."
September 16th, 2023 at 11:50 PM ^
If you think this is just like the Army game, you must not remember the Army game either.
September 16th, 2023 at 11:12 PM ^
Ban this troll pls
September 16th, 2023 at 11:14 PM ^
Hey, it’s the guy who only posts negativity except last week when you said “I believe Mel Tucker”.
Reminds me of a guy I went to high school with way back. Guy had the biggest truck but wore the smallest gloves.
September 16th, 2023 at 11:26 PM ^
I'm not sure college football is for you.
September 17th, 2023 at 7:28 AM ^
good lord, thanks for bundling all your half-assed HAWT TAKES into a single post that we can more easily ignore in one go.
September 16th, 2023 at 10:54 PM ^
7.3 yards per play and three ghastly turnovers.
September 16th, 2023 at 10:55 PM ^
I am old enough to remember when Michigan failed to run enough PA against TCU. Tonight, though JJ was quite bad, the play calling didn't make use of PA enough. It seemed like BG knew pass formations.
On the good side, Blake looked like Blake.
September 16th, 2023 at 11:45 PM ^
They had a lot of plays where JJ was under center and there was an fullback and a halfback in I formation like it's 1985. Just screamed running play, although Corum made some of that work anyway.
September 16th, 2023 at 10:58 PM ^
JJ had one great throw. The majority of the rest were under thrown or just off. Plus he had some bad decision making.
I'm not worried, hopefully he got this out of his system.
The OLine was quite shakey on both run blocking and pass protection.
Offensive play calling was questionable.
But a win regardless.
September 17th, 2023 at 10:59 AM ^
I'm assuming you're referring to the TD throw to Wilson. I have to give props to BTN for the endzone view of that play - was just a beautiful shot of that throw coming right at the receiver.
September 16th, 2023 at 11:00 PM ^
I’ve never hated a 25 point win more.
September 17th, 2023 at 12:58 AM ^
Ha. Yeah, pretty much sums up the night. Quite the clunker offensively. BUT, it was only BG and we still won easily. Get the goofs out of their system, learn from it, move on.
Still slightly concerned about what's going on with the O-Line though. Seems like a noticeable regression through the first three games. Gonna need to figure that out sooner rather than later.
September 16th, 2023 at 11:00 PM ^
Shit happens. Move on and get better. We have done this before. Rutgers game comes to mind. We still had a great year. We still won by a bunch. JJ had a bad day. I want to see how responds next week. Taming my expectations but hoping for a great next week.
September 16th, 2023 at 11:04 PM ^
Boring, and irritating that they played without intensity or sharpness. The line needs work, and will Henderson away LT and Barny at RT be what we see against Rutgers?
I attribute the lack of crispness to the JH suspension and having different guys each week. Minter should’ve been the HC all three games—consistency over the shtick, with the offensive coaches needing to just focus on their side of the ball. Moore’s chance was hindered by his game 1 suspension, which is why I say Minter for all 3 would’ve allowed some continuity.
Loved CJ’s catch and his overall growth. Same with Wilson’s route running and speed.
Loves seeing Corum and Edwards start to rev up.
September 17th, 2023 at 7:16 AM ^
let’s not do “barny,” shall we?
September 16th, 2023 at 11:04 PM ^
I have a brace on my right elbow. I’m 41 soon to be 42. Lost 10 lbs in the last 4 months. JJ will be fine. Blake looked good.
September 16th, 2023 at 11:05 PM ^
Good time for a wake up call.
September 16th, 2023 at 11:05 PM ^
I’m glad the non-conference schedule is over. It was all especially pointless this year. It looked like McCarthy’s head was elsewhere today, but I’m sure he and everyone else will benefit from Harbaugh’s return. They better be ready to play next week. I know it’s Rutgers, but they’re 3-0, probably feeling good about themselves, and they’ll at least put up an effort.
September 16th, 2023 at 11:05 PM ^
Going to go against the grain a bit. Not going to say, it's a good thing, that would be too far. However, my interpretation is JJ was feeling himself after week one and two, and this was him pushing too hard and thinking he could get whatever he wanted. It's a good lesson to learn at a good time to learn it. Tonight's game does not erase week one and two. We all know what he's capable of now, and I'm going to choose to take tonight as an aberration rather than a preview of what he really is.
September 16th, 2023 at 11:42 PM ^
Good post. I just hope the coaches don't turtle now and skew back too heavily on the run. I don't think they will, but this raises the chances of it happening.
September 17th, 2023 at 6:21 AM ^
One significant difference from the first two games is that JJ was under pressure a few times in this game, and he didn't deal with it very well. To be fair, there was at least one occasion (where Edwards didn't pick up the blitzing linebacker) where he had no chance.
September 17th, 2023 at 11:04 AM ^
I noticed JJ limping a lot and one offensive huddle during a time out he didn’t go into, instead walking around seemingly trying to will away something nagging. It’s possible this affected his mechanics too and he was just throwing a little differently so as to not have that feel. Or maybe just the awareness of that caused him to rush more. I’m very curious to hear what Gardner and Borges have to say this week.
September 16th, 2023 at 11:06 PM ^
It's one thing to have a bad game, but not against a 1-1 BG team. OLine looked terrible against a MAC team, that says alot
September 16th, 2023 at 11:06 PM ^
OK, bad game for JJ. Blake seems to be rounding back into form though.
Unfortunately, I could see the coaching staff backing off on the "balanced attack" after this. And our run game, outside of Blake being Blake, doesn't appear to be at 2022 levels. Best move is to try to stay balanced against Rutgers, but I don't know if it'll happen. I'm hopeful this is an aberration for 2023 JJ, and I hope the coaches feel that way too.
Thankfully, BG was a cupcake, and even the worst game of JJ's career didn't put it much in doubt.
September 16th, 2023 at 11:07 PM ^
At least we're not MSU
September 16th, 2023 at 11:08 PM ^
Low bar
September 16th, 2023 at 11:07 PM ^
Most worrisome thing about tonight's game: ALL 3 OF MCCARTHY'S INTs were his fault. That does not get quickly fixed. McCarthy does same thing vs Rutgers, UM loses by a TD. #GoBlue
September 16th, 2023 at 11:41 PM ^
Jj isn’t going to do that against Rutgers. And if he does, they still won’t lose. Terrible take
September 16th, 2023 at 11:08 PM ^
At least Turnoverciek matched him to keep the final score outside of anything that could cause problems with ranking if business is taken care of down the road.
An uneventful 96-16 through cupcake-hambuger-time. Seems fine to me.
September 16th, 2023 at 11:13 PM ^
If you hadn’t watched live and just seen the final score of 31-6, and seen scores of other games today you’d think, “not so bad.” So I’ll take it.
September 16th, 2023 at 11:13 PM ^
Blake Corum is back. CJ made a heckuva catch. Harbaugh is now free. JJ will be ready when it counts. 3 & 0.
September 16th, 2023 at 11:14 PM ^
I was told by Edwards that Edwards was going to "revolutionize the RB position like Barry Sanders"...I'm still looking for Edwards to be, at least, functional...
September 16th, 2023 at 11:31 PM ^
Couldn’t be bothered to block for his QB on a blitz that was obvious to everyone watching. That pisses me off.
September 16th, 2023 at 11:37 PM ^
I don’t think he even saw it. He’s made some really good pass pro blocks this year. I don’t think it’s a matter of not caring or not being willing to block.
September 17th, 2023 at 11:04 AM ^
Yeah, and haven't we seen McCarthy call for protection earlier this year when identifying pressure? Should have been able to also alert Edwards.
September 17th, 2023 at 2:21 PM ^
Couldn't be bothered? Cumong, man. Worst take in this thread.
A mistake? Sure..... Not mentally sharp (like most of the offense).....maybe. But intentional ignorance? Hell no.
