why are we looking at teenagers jacked bodies?

I think it's odd you're pointing out he's a teenager when he's 20.  Even if he was 19, does that really matter?  The reality is your best physical years are from 18-30.  Some folks peak a bit earlier, some a bit later.  No big deal here.  All the folks that are UVing you I can only assume never lift.

Lol, can't speak for others but I was joking around because I can never pass up an opportunity. As someone who has spent the last 9 months watching hundreds of YouTube videos on weightlifting I agree this isn't creepy in the least. Or if it is then I'm also a creep.

Wasn't replying to you, but it's all good.  I just thought it was a bit sensational referring to a 20 year old as a teenager to make it sound as if we're a bunch of middle aged dudes gawking at high school girls.

I'd agree if he didn't already have a year of college experience under his belt. Who knows how his career will pan out, but at least it's not recruiting hype, it's developmental hype, which is still early hype, but slightly less bad. The shirtless Edwards hype would be more your jam :)

Having more muscles does not necessarily make you a good running back.

Agreed, as Dr. Stu McGill said...

The best athletes rarely outperform their peers in pre-season testing like bench pressing and squatting. Their distinguishing qualities are motor control. The ability to exert strength quickly, deactivate muscle quickly, and optimally project forces throughout the body linkage is characteristic of this skill.

That being said, having more muscle to a certain extant is a beneficial adaptation and will help an athlete, particularly at a position like RB.  So, all other things being equal, more muscle is good, but muscle alone doesn't make one good.

Corum is no Barkley.  Corum is TINY as far as stature goes.  Barkley has 4 inches on corum. Corum has shorter strides and will lack breakaway speed with all of that bulk.  If he was 6’1” and looked like that, I’d be way more optimistic. What all that muscle will do is hopefully protect him from injury.

I think of Corum as more of a Mike Hart running back, shorter, but with lower body strength to run between the tackles.  I liked what I saw when Blake ran inside last year, and strength does matter there.  You know what they say, "All weight gain is good..."

Squatting builds strength for explosive power when needed.

Not to get into an unnecessarily exercise science-y debate, but although all strength exercises require certain amount of power, and you're correct that RBs generally have great quad strength and power, the squat itself is more akin to strength, whereas a vertical or broad jump or olympic lift like a clean or snatch is more akin to power. But, guys like Saquon boast both an impressive squat in the 600s and clean in the 400s back in his PSU days.

Corum’s physical process is impressive, but taking a shot like that against Charbonnet was completely uncalled for by that guy.

Charbonnet left, undoubtedly, because he was extremely talented but somehow getting less than ten carries a game. He owed it to himself to go somewhere where he’d be featured a lot more often.

Agree. I think he’s the type of back that excels as long as he is a feature back/getting a larger load. 10 carries a game is tough for a back to get any kind of groove or momentum, and I think Charbonnet is that type of back. Haskins, clearly, can just grab the ball and go on a whim. Some guys feed off being on the field for more plays overall. Taking a shot at him for leaving is low class, to my knowledge he doesn’t deserve any of that and was a good teammate while here, and deserves his opportunity. Just a bummer he had to leave to get it

Serious question, do we know that he transferred because he was getting 10 carries a game or did he get 10 carries a game because they knew he was transferring after this year? There was something that happened after that long td run against Minnesota that changed everything, he didn’t play much after that the rest of the shortened season. Instead of that being his breakout it was more of his swan song. I have no idea but he wasn’t even interested in playing for one of our best running backs of all time so it apparently wasn’t about position coaching. Sometimes kids get homesick, especially in a pandemic when they can’t even see their families. Just some thoughts and questions on the situation

No, it isn't useful in the least. There is no discussion. There is no "quick update." It's a forum where intelligent discussion is discouraged in favor of quick, whitty comments that reduce everyone's IQ who reads them. It's completely removed from reality. Calling it a cancer doesn't even do it justice. Cancer doesn't eat your soul.

Good for him, also known to be a gym rat and hard worker.  I hope he gets opportunities as being between Haskins & Edwards won't be easy.  BTW whoever Gaige Parker is, is a bit of a dick.  Zach seems like a really nice guy, and hard worker, and excellent RB in his own right.  I'm sorry to see he left, but wish everyone the best at their various destinations.
