This one isn't soaked in U of M bias and Harbaugh bias which would probably make some of our rivals hesitate to sign whether they agreed with it or not. This one will go a lot further but kudos to the other gentleman for getting the ball rolling with the first petition.

I'm skeptical if anything comes from this, but I'm game for giving it a shot.  This decision is so blatantlybias towards SEC/ACC and the fact that their coaches don't want to work.

I will sign the petition also, but I share your skepticism. I'd get together with a couple of schools in favor of holding summer camps, file an antitrust action and attempt to enjoin the NCAA's action.  I've said this many times.

Too many conferences voted for the ban to think it will easily be defeated because of popular sentiment, but a petition from a highly touted recruit can't hurt.

This is well written. Doesn't make it about Harbaugh vs. SEC or about. Harbaugh vs. Saban, which is territorial and polarizing. It is about the kids, and the petition should reflect that. And this resonates with people. Consequently, you can see people from all over country signing. Bravo, Ms. Peoples!!

Thank you DPJ's mom. The other one was inane. The whole point of trying to change this rule is making the NCAA realize that this is not about Harbaugh and Michigan. It's about the athletes.

Nick Baumgardner ‏@nickbaumgardner There are really only two things an SEC/ACC coach can say about that ban: I didn't want to work, or I'm afraid of the Big Ten

In the mean time, can't an injunction be pursued to table this matter for the next cycle? The immediate effectivity is just as egregious as the decision itself, with these satellite camps already planned.

Not being a dick, but isn't this pointless? It was a stupid decision and the ncaa is garbage, but didn't the Big 12 and even some non power 5 conferences/coaches support a ban?

Maybe the NCAA doesn't respond to the overwhelming fan revulsion to this recent piece of legislation, but they'll have to espond if - as it seems to be already - it begins to create problems among student athletes, they'll have to listen or the NCAA will have very visibly failed at its own mission in a manner they cannot spin.

As we know, many prospective recruits rely on these camps to get exposure, and if there is nothing that they can visit to get that exposure, then some are reduced to the traditional nearby choices potentially, others may get offers they are unable to realize because they now cannot get to those locations, and so on down to some whose dreams of going to college may now be in limbo. If this is the case on any sort of scale, then anything to get the word out and get this reversed is not pointless at all. It's an attempt to actually help student-athletes, something the SEC and NCAA refuse to do apparently.

What no one knows is just how many schools supported this ban...maybe some of the conferences were close to evenly split (I believe the Pac10 for example has several schools that have held sat camps with M Leach being a very vocal supporter)..and if that's the case the uproar could tilt the balance away from the SEC/ACC.

signed. increase in exposure = increase in scholarship opportunities. camps reduce the travel costs for families to expose their child to multiple coaches and schools

I signed the petition -- both petitions. Not because I believe the NCAA will suddenly come around to a common sense principle; however, it is the right thing to do.

Still lots of signatures from MI but have also seen some from CA, MD, VA, FL. It's definitely getting around. Could see this blowing up quickly if media gets wind of it or it gets trending on twitter.

This one is more about the recruits, and how it is affecting them which is a lot more important then how it is afecting Harbaugh

2320 signatures as of now.

With comment. . As was suggested yesterday in the threads about the NCAA and their idiotic ruling against camps, the athletes themselves may have a big say in the efforts to repeal the ban. While it's highly unlikely a widespread boycott could happen, social media is quickly turning this into a cause that will not go away. My hope is that the negative publicity the SEC & ACC (and other conferences and schools guilty of this travesty) reap will make them pay dearly. Like HARBAUGH says about deception, they will reap what they have sewn.

The NCAA is playing with fire...keep fking these kids around and the whole damn thing is going to crumble.

So, while this might not get this ruling changed, it is causing a stir among the one populace that matters most and has to a large degree been a sleeping giant..the athletes. The more often the flex their collective muscle the closer they get to doing something to really challenge the power structure.

The NCAA would be wise to clean up this mess quickly. Problem is now if they back down, the players will be emboldened going forward but if they don't back down the players  may take it personal (the comments about camps like SMSB are pretty powerful testiments to the importance of these camps to many kids)..and that ultimately carries an even greater threat to the system.

I was asleep when you and others replied to my comment about this in the “We have a voice […]” thread.

And very cool to see so many signatures since last night.
