Ben Bredeson Appreciation

Submitted by Blue-Ray on November 26th, 2019 at 2:50 PM

There's so much high praise that can be piled upon this steady soldier and his career at Michigan that any amount said will definitely be an understatement.

Making what would seem like an extremely difficult decision for most at any time coming from Wisconsin as a highly rated O-line recruit and choosing Michigan, he's always shown to be wise beyond his years.

He's been a true leader in every definition one can think up since stepping foot on campus in '16. He has also been an exceptionally solid starter on the O-line since a few games into his freshman year.

His presence, leadership, and consistency from a player standpoint can arguably be attributed to the ascension of the O-line as much as anything or anyone.

He's always been a player you could no doubt count on every single game to come ready to face the challenge. You also just know the coaches appreciate his accountability and setting the Michigan Man standard on and off the field as well.

As he prepares to Touch the Banner one last time this Saturday, I just wanted to take time to sincerely say Thank You as a fan.

Go Blue!

I worked at a fast food-ish place on campus during undergrad. During the 2016 season, Bredeson would come in at the same time one day every week and would chat with me for a couple of minutes about the previous week's game. My favorite was asking him why there was a scuffle on the goal line during one game, can't remember which, and he said it started because the d-lineman punched him in the balls.

He's a good dude and definitely goes underappreciated because of how consistently excellent he's been for the past four years.

I’ve probably talked with him about 8 times and he’s always been smiling, and cool like a big teddy bear. From the night before the OSU game on his official visit as a HS senior, to teaching kids at the youth camps, to sitting outside at Goodtime Charley’s with the baseball team after they came back from Omaha. I’ll miss him and hope for nothing but the best for him whatever his future holds. ( Not a stalker but an Event Team member).

Wonder how he rates vs all time best Wolverine O-linemen?  Solid technician with a mean streak!   Great UM family with brother, Jack, being a member of the baseball team.

Gonna miss him.  Yet, I believe we've recruited the position well as of late!

I'd like to see him paste Young on a pull this Saturday!

PFF grades him as allowing the fewest hurries and zero sacks all season as pass blocker. Some NFL team gonna get a good one both on and off field.  I remember he was a heavy Wisconsin lean in his recruitment.  Great get for Michigan.  Started as freshman, NFL ready. For him and every senior I hope this is the year against the Death Star.

Well said, OP.

Ben has been a great player for the Wolverines and is a true Michigan man.  And he has a chance to make his last game at The Big House legendary.

Go Blue!

One of the best to wear the uniform on offensive line. May he have his best game to date on Saturday, and all the best to Mr. Bredeson at the next level.

Great Dude - appreciate his cool, calm and collected demeanor - no wonder he's a captain.  He will be a standard bearer for the young linemen behind him on roster  - Bravo!!!

I can, in a sick way, understand the MSU and OSU trolling you do.  Guessing you think it's all in good fun, you're just keeping it real to a bunch of fanboys...

... but taking a shot at the OP like you did is just a dick move.

Go troll elsewhere.

Hi, Ben!

Although I don't condone self-promotion, I can make an exception for you in this case (very well put). The same goes to all seniors both scholarship players and walk-ons.

Thank you and best luck to you!

I originally thought it was a shame that he didn't get a red shirt freshman year but now I suspect he wouldn't be around next year even if he had another year of eligibility. (But he would have been a force next year if he had come back.)

Bo would be rolling over in grave if saw these gladhanding posts glorifying the individual and not the team, especially this week, and moreseo if he knew how many times we lost to OSU, along with no BIG titles... So far today I see a "who will be the hero" and now this thread.  How about waiting til season is over.  Focus on the team, not the individual.

I think he is one of the best linemen if not the best in the post-Carr era and has excellent NFL potential. He's a throwback to the great Michigan offensive line tradition.
