John Beilein May have been born at night but it wasn’t last night! He’s been in the homes of multiple black young men. He’s been around black players and has heard their insight on plenty of matters including those that they may feel is racially sensitive. He is fully aware what “thug” may mean to some. He made a slip of the tongue, apologized and made amends to those he may have offended.

Out of respect for Watersmeet High, he refrained from saying they aren't playing like Nimrods an longer.

Guys have made worse decisions to cash a big paycheck.   So the Cav's fire him after one season and pay him to be retired for a few more years.

In this thread a whole bunch of white people get upset that they can't just keep saying whatever they want that hurts other people and get upset about it.

Richard Sherman says that thug is the new N word and all the sudden a guy like John Beilien is a racist because he says it once.....I am waiting for the next wave of outrage because John refered to them as "guys" without confirming they want to be identified that way.

A couple of updates (if people are reading this deep into the thread)

When he said it they were reviewing getting back on defense and the fact that they were doing much better recently in that area.  So the comment that they are "no longer acting like slugs" isnt crazy in that context.

The GM Koby Altman has gone up to Detroit this morning.  My guess is he's going to talk to the players directly and see what the general consensus is in the locker room.  Could very well be John's last day here sadly.

I'd imagine the venn diagram of people who think saying thug about a group of black people is fine and just social justice warrior bullshit and people who called kaepernick a thug for kneeling during the national anthem is more or less a perfect circle.

I can see wanting to go to NBA to "see if you can coach at the highest level" but going to a team with ZERO talent (Cavs had maybe 3-4 NBA guys on their roster when he took the job)  why not take a job with a few decent NBA players like Minnesota Memphis and some other teams John B couldve landed with

No coach in the history of the NBA is going to win with the line up the Cavs put on the floor
