Baalke, post-firing, misses SF's 2011-14 "winning culture"

Submitted by Communist Football on

These quotes, from the 49ers' now-former GM, are something (emphasis added):

Earlier Sunday, Baalke told the radio station that his firing "was the right thing to do."

"You know, I've been here since 2005, and I have a lot of respect for the organization as a whole, and the ownership, the fan base. It's difficult, but it's the right thing to do," Baalke told KNBR Radio.

Asked whether the organization needed sweeping changes, Baalke told KNBR: "Sometimes you need to reset the culture. When you have a winning culture, which we did in 2011, '12, '13 and '14, a lot of good football players. A lot of memorable games we went through together.

A strange coincidence that those four years correspond exactly to the tenure of a certain former 49ers head coach.

Shhh. The same fans here upset with back to back 10-3 seasons rating Harbaugh a 'B' are probably the same fans who would have fired him at the 49ers. Just stop it. Harbaugh is an amazing coach and these last two seasons have been. Electric. In every game played we have been competitive except for one. Harbaugh is an A+ hire. An A+ coach. It just sucks that Baalke like some of our fans don't see it until it's too late.

I am assuming that someone, somewhere asked JIm Tomsula for a statement on this, and in a fashion only Tomsula could manage, he said about half of a sentence, let one rip, then mumbled something incomprehensible before taking another bite of his Subway sandwich.

Man I can't believe after the terrible coaching changes that we have had, people are already saying some negative things about Harbaugh. The guy puts every ounce of effort into everything that he does. The teams that are in the playoffs are absolutely loaded at every position and have had their system in place. We are still playing catch up. We are still lacking players at some positions, a new QB, a new DC. We will get there soon but have some perspective here.

I am very thankful for York, Baalke, and everyone who threw shade at Harbaugh in San Fran. Here at UM Harbaugh runs the show and not some wealthy owner or GM with no clue or appreciation of why they are winnibg.

People questioning Harbaugh are complete and utter .... <fill in the blank>.  How quickly we forget the crap seasons not 2 years removed.  How quickly we forget the lack of strategy and planning from Hoke. No headset.  Putting injured players back onto the field.  MIssing on elite prospects.  How about RR era?  Beating IL 67-65.

Bunch of babies.

I loved how Baalke and York attributed the winning Harbaugh years a result of Baalkes drafts and not coaching. Looking forward to the day that silver spoon gets his shit packed in like Baalke has

Did Ed DeBartolo's children not want anything to do with the team? How did his Nephew, this Jed York clown, take over? Thank God he did or we wouldn't have Harbaugh, but seriously. The apple fell really far from that tree. Ed DeBartolo is one of the greatest executives in NFL history and Jed York is a total ass clown.

I heard a report yesterday that York had wanted to hire Adam Gase, but Baalke talked him out of it and they went with Kelly instead.  Now Gase is a COY candidate with the Dolphins.

York has to be in full blown panic mode as 49er fans are all tired of him and his asinine decisions. York must have attributed those "winning culture" years that Baalke described to himself. He probably thinks he can do a better job than Baalke in selecting talent as he thought he was a better coach than Harbaugh as well.
