Auburn doesn't get bailed out by the refs today and moves to 2-2 (should be 1-3, maybe 0-4 if it weren't for getting bailed out by the refs.) It looks like the SEC isn't that great this year.

We need to find a way to get AI to ref, because human refs decide the outcome of way too many games.

Yeah, because when the computers were put in charge of rankings and the national championship game and/or winner that worked out so well.

At least they beat Bama last season. Granted they were insanely lucky in that game but they still won. Michigan can’t even keep it close against OSU. Of course the SEC isn’t going to look as good because the don’t have 4 easy non conference games to prop them up. It isn’t as easy when you don’t have the Citadel to prop you up.

Malzahn is 3-4 vs Bama and they’ve been ranked in the top 5 in all 7 games IIRC. Now, two of those wins were incredibly lucky - kick 6 and last year’s - but at the end of the day they were in position to get a few bounces. We’ve only been in position twice late in The Game to get those bounces - 2016 & 17. We didn’t get those bounces but if we keep them close, anything can happen.

Auburn is not nearly as good as Bama. But we’d certainly take that record against OSU in the last 7 years. Can’t close the gap until we win a couple

Yeah, I was going to say, without those 4 gimmes to give the records window dressing, all these 2-2 teams look a bit different than if they were 6-2 right now.

It is pretty clear the SEC is down a little bit though compared to last year and a lot of recent years.  LSU is way down, Auburn looks down even from their usual above average benchmark, Bama even looks a lot more vulnerable than usual.  Jury is still out a bit on Georgia.  The conference will almost certainly only get one team in the playoffs so that's good.

Combine that with the Big 12 being out (barring a major run by Ok St) and the B1G ten could have a shot at two teams.  If Michigan runs the table and loses close to OSU, they could have a shot at the 4th spot given their very difficult schedule.  ND being fully in the ACC helps because they won't be able to squeeze in without a conf title game like they did two years ago.

This thread title is . . .  way too long and uninformative.  Hawt take deluxe.

Whoa.  Hold your horses until Georgia and Alabama play.

Then give a hawt take.

I'm confused. If they had been bailed out by the refs, that implies that they would have had an unfair advantage due to the refs.

So which is it?

Are they a good team that's getting screwed by the refs?

Or are they a bad team that needs bailing out by the refs but they're not getting favorable calls?

Alcohol and big thumbs are a bad combination. After all these years of watching football, you would think people would stop bitching about the refs. Especially in games they don't really care about. Maybe he bet on S.Carl, so maybe he does have a rooting interest.

How does Auburn losing a few games show that the SEC isn't that great this year when they are only playing conference games? Maybe the rest of the conference IS that great this year. (they probably aren't, but it's difficult to make a statement about the "SEC vs everybody else" when they aren't playing anybody else)

They got bailed out by the refs once in the last drive, and I was waiting for another friendly hookup near the goal line. Great win for USC (not that USC)

Everyone looks out of sync in one way or another. Refs kinda sloppy, lotsa turnovers, but defense looks worst thus far. I have no love for Auburn, but they’re not the only crazy team out there. I have the feeling that the B1G isn’t going to be any better.

This has the makings of a weird football season.  Kentucky routs Tennessee at Tennessee for the first time since 1984.  Mississippi can’t score against Arkansas deep in the second quarter after looking unstoppable against Alabama last week.  Let’s hope the weirdness impacts Ohio State too.

Clemson and Ohio State are the best two teams this year and would have been in a regular football season. Ohio State will beat Clemson this time and they would have anyways.

Less than a month into the season, there are only 4 SEC teams w fewer than 2 losses (Bama, UGA, TA&M, and UF.  Tired of watching SEC and Clemson.  Ready for some Michigan Football.
